>Color in A and B is exactly the same
How the fuck is this possible this is bullshit.
Might as well throw color theory out the fucking window.
>>2505964
Get gud anon
>>2505964
It's not, because it's all about how the rods trick you into seeing valuesin light. Read some medical books about the retina,on and off-bipolar neurons in the retina and you'll understand.
>>2505964
>he's not a wizard
>>2505964
Honestly senpai I saw this image years ago and it crushed my confidence to ever be able to see values correctly.
/monochrome math
>>2505964
This *is* part of color theory.
A color is never seen in a vacuum!
It is always influenced by its surroundings!
>>2505964
kek
>>2506043
I spent three years in a atelier squinting and doing autistic level cast studies where several weeks was spent on each drawing. Unfortunately this image remains the same to my eyes. If it eliminates the effect for you great, for me it makes no difference whatsoever.
>>2505964
That feel when can never get past this picture.
>>2505964
So you have to look at what you're drawing. No big deal. The effect is the same on the page as in reality.
>>2505964
i can get them to be equal by squinting really hard and i can unsquint and see them equal for like half a second. Is it actually possible to max out unsquint levels?
>>2505964
How do people still fall for this picture when it's clear they're different colors?
>>2506194
squint.
>>2506194
lol
>>2506194
you're
not
gonna
make
it
>>2505964
>Might as well throw color theory out the fucking window.
Rather than throw it out the window you should read it first becuse then you'd know what is happening you stupid shitposter.
>>2505993
what if all you see is the color and it's perfectly lit
how is that even possible
its not the same color but it still is, i dont get it
>>2506226
Color is affected by its surrounding environment, if you have a darker environment your perception of lighter colors is increased where as if you have a lighter background the same color you thought was a lighter color is depicted as being darker hence the illusion.
>>2506214
Rekt
>>2506226
The key lies here pay close attention to how the square is transitioned to a darker shade of grey which causes you to pick up the color from box A s being a lighter one.
>>2506238
wait so if i see them the same color after trying to deliberately is that good?
>>2506247
Doesn't really matter. Hues and values are always perceived relative, it's just a thing you have to accept and learn to work with. I don't think there's any point in trying to ignore that.
>>2506247
It doesn't matter. This is an illusion designed around how your brain interprets information, being able to see the two shades as the same if you stare at it doesn't matter. You're fighting against biology, it's a losing fight so don't bother.
It's a simple illusion obviously, the light grey square in the dark is the same shade as the dark grey square in the light. But don't fucking forget the dark square in the dark is WAY darker than the light square in either light or dark.
It's like you're all thinking about this way too hard, it's just a shadow. Don't freak out about being able to interpret values, which isn't easy, but with a scenario like this once you've set in your mind the value of the light and dark squares, just apply a shadow to both of them, darkening them both by the same level of shade. Done. Easy peasy.
>>2506395
hah no, try colorpicking the actual squares before you talk.
>>2506395
NOT
GONNA
MAKE
IT
>>2506295
>hah no, try colorpicking the actual squares before you talk.
Then do it and show me, but you won't because you can't because it's just not true.
>>2506466
weeeeeeeeeeeeeeew
>>2506466
If you keep being retarded I'm going to end you.
>>2505964
CONTEXT NIGGA
>>2506472
Do it
Kill me now
u are all so gay
Kill yourselves.
>>2506498
ur definitelygonna make it
tfw I had to concentrate really hard at first and even hide parts of the picture to see them the same color, but now I just do without squinting or effort
This is called color relativity and IS part of color theory, Anon.
>>2506494
even with this A seems a little bit darker
w-whats the point of having triple ligaments if i cant see colors right ; ;
>>2506744
that's because A is neighboring a bright pure white while B is surrounded by grays.
you'd know that if you weren't busy posting about retarded memes made by shitposters
this entire thread is embarrassing.
also this >>2506736
Jesus fucking Christ, only because I did this I finally see it.
Goddamn, I'm not gonna make it. Time to kill myself.
>>2508280
>gif
Yeah, no, fuck you.
>>2508280
It doesnt move and the quality isnt even preserved at all why is this a gif
>>2506043
Where the fuck did you go where they were teaching you about identifying values in middle school?
>>2508313
I don't know, I just saved it as I found it
>Might as well throw color theory out the fucking window.
Anon, the importance of how colors and values look different relative to one another is fucking central to it.
>>2508299
geez this is supposed to be an optical illusion in the first place so most if not all people wouldn't be able to see it.
that the A and B have the same value is something they did on purpose to give this image shock/surprise value.
as an artist, what you're supposed to get out of this is that values in the shadow area is darker than you might think.
a "white" in the shadow area can have the same value as a grey/black in the light area.
actually it is a common belief in grouping vaues that the darkest value in the light area is still brighter than the brightest value in the shadow area (considering that both sides are made of the same material).
>>2508350
I...I see. So if I'd be trying to smear one paint over the other trying to darken the area, effect might become wild especially when I have few different colors/tones there?
>>2505964
i dont see them equal when I squint my eyes, however when I unfocus (focus my eyes on a point about half a meter in front of the screen) I see them as perfectly the same color
also, optical illusions aren't something you can get rid off seeing. however KNOWING how they appear will help you a lot.
>>2505993
Is correct. Like a grey will look cooler next to a warm color and warm next to a cold one, this is just another aspect.
>>2505964
B is #787878
A is #787878
huh that is really cool anon, although I think this is just an optical illusion is all anon, because we know the whites are a different colour then the blacks on the board but we fail to consider the shadow which darkens the blacks and whites making the whites exactly the same darkness as the blacks that have no shadow covering them fooling us!
>>2505964
drew a line to illustrate the sameness of the colours for u anon
>>2506494
>>2506498

>>2509260

>>2509260
>you now realize that you're not gonna make it
>>2508321
I learned loomis in kindergarten. Step up nigga.
If you unfocus your eyes, you may see it then.
Yes, they are the same value.
But values can't be both in the shade and the light, which is why we are 'seeing' them as different.
