What makes a western artist who draws anime shit less credible?
Let's say hypothetically he draws decent anime style drawings, ones which feature proper perspective, anatomy, etc that characters look "human".
Is he seen as more childish than the person drawing Steven Universe fan art merely because he is emulating an eastern style?
Wouldnt the former gain more respect on a technical level? Anime can look a lot more like actual people than tumblr noodle arms and western ''cartoony'' sloppiness, on a merely technical level anime style artists put more work into their drawings because their drawings try harder to look more human, perhaps not in the face, but in anatomy, some artists are very good.
So why the hate? If a western artist can successfully pull off an eastern style, then more power to them, but I dont understand why anime can be seen as a "lesser" style to western cartoons when so much of it is inferior in terms of anatomical features.
As long as it is decent I don't see an issue with western anime drawing. A lot of my favorite porn artists are western. And there are just as many bad japs as there are here.

It's not an issue if you learn proper fundamentals. I used to get told constantly not to draw anime and that I never learn. I relented and took life drawing and other drawing classes. Now I go back and forth between anime and more western styled things all the time and nobody ever gives me flack about it. In fact a lot of times it seems like people really prefer my anime influenced drawings. Not sure how I feel about that.

Anime is for idiots. It is a very specific cartoon style, and anyone who dedicates their art to this one style should take a long look at themselves before wasting decades on it.

Most anime is just realistic bodies with super deformed faces/heads and that requires atleast SOME knowledge and skill with human anatomy. While stuff like Steven Universe consist of characters that are all pear shaped or weird soft rounded blobs which don't really require any skill to emulate.

Drawing good anime requires skill.
A lot of /ic/ people seem to want to draw anime without practicing/learning anything.
Anime is more generic/limited than non-anime.
However, there can be both good anime and non-anime art.
In the end, none of this matters because people will draw what they want and practice as much/as little as they want, and seeing as we're not personally mentoring anyone here I don't see why we should give a shit.
