How come there are tons of drawing books worth reading (primarily figure related) but only a few quality books on painting?
I've already read Alla Prima and the stuff by Speed, Payne and bits of Gurney. It feels like that's it.
Because drawing is foundational. You can become a good painter by drawing all the time but you can't become a good draftsman by painting all the time.

I'm at the point where drawing really isn't a problem for me, but painting is, like the actual handling of it seems so challenging compared to pencil and charcoal. I actually think my painting ability has deteriorated since I started focusing exclusively on drawing.
