I have such shitty carpal tunnel I practically paint like my form arm isn't there anyways since it is either in incredibly pain or completely numb. I just sorta grip the in a way that it stays still and move my whole arm to draw on my display.
I could see using a prosthetic like that easily.

my father was right handed and after he got shot in 89 he lost the use of his right arm so he re-taught himself left handed and actually managed to achieve the same level of skill

I was in a motorcycle accident a few week ago. Some dumb cunt took a u-turn right into my lane, and I smashed into the side of her car, and was thrown over the hood. Both of my hands got fucked up, particularly the wrists, but nothing was broken. Also smashed my thighs against the handlebars, and if I had hit them an inch higher, I would have been castrated. My motorcycle was totaled.
My wrists still hurt, particularly the left one, but at least I can still draw. It's not really relevant to the thread, but I figured I'd mention it.

My dominant hand's wrist has been fucked long before I started drawing. A combination of repetitive motion injuries and fucking up a power clean did it. It's acting up again now because I tried to play my guitar for half an hour and was too aggressive with my picking. I'm wearing a wrist brace now and I can still draw fine. I draw with my whole arm, and anchor my hand and use my fingers for details. I can still use my mouse OK by dropping the sensitivity and using my whole arm.
If the past is any indication, hopefully the pain will go away in a few days and I'll have to baby it for a while. Thanks to the US "healthcare" system I can't see a specialist, and even if surgery would help there's no way I could afford it.

yup. It's constantly completely numb and makes precision strokes harder and harder as the day goes on. It's gotten this bad because I'm an idiot and didn't take enough breaks while painting. I regularly paint 10-12 hours a day though.

Hear me out, you don't have to smoke it. Look into CBD salves. They're non psycoactive (meaning you won't get high off them), they're legal in the US (CBD derived from Hemp is now legal in all 50 states) and it's literally the only thing that has made the pain go away when I draw. just slather it on, let it dry and by the time it does you won't even notice the pain.
If you're in CO I reccommend the muscle salve that The Green Solution sells, I literally don't feel pain anymore when I use it.
