How many hours a week do you spend on art?
>>
Including shitposting on /ic/?
>>
>>2496386
Mon-Fri a total of 20 hours between work/sleep. Sat/Sun probably 20 hours total depending on family/friends.

Going to increase Mon-Fri to 30 hours by getting up 2 hours early.
>>
>>2496386

Why is that doge cosplaying as a uncut, feminine penis?
>>
>>2496428
Dude that's a seal.
>>
>>2496431
haha what that dick is a seal?
>>
>>2496438
It's a sea lion fool.

30 hours per week and trying for 60+ once I get my iPad pro so I can draw at work. Fuck having a life and shiet
>>
40 consistently for the last 2 months , plus I have a 20 hour a week part time job which I'm leaving soon. I'll be able to get around 60 then.
>>
>>2496386
3-4? maybe 12?
>>
Not enough.
>>
>>2496386
Not nearly enough
>>
>>2496386
Usually 40-50 while attending hs with perfect attendance, but lately i've managed to drop to a mere 30 a week.
>>
how many hour a week?

Fucking all of them. I browse 4chan between saves or canvas flips.
>>
Probably around 40 hours, I draw and sketch a lot, sadly not that great yet
>>
>>2496493
>perfect attendance.

I bet you're in honors, like every single other american in the world you swiss scum.
>>
Around 18 hours in school, then maybe 3 hours for personal drawing
>>
>>2496386
>15 hours per week
>takes more than 40 minutes to make a decent sketch
>months to make a great tier/upload-worthy pic, digitally
Let that sink in for a moment.
>>
>>2496663
I feel your pain
>>
>>2496516
swiss?
Also don't be rude to nile you fucking retard
>>
Probably 40-70 depending on the week, but I'm in art school and it feels like a full time job sometimes. There are weeks when I don't have time for much else except working on assignments

Nice, got any art to share?
>>
more than 30 i think, but i'm a NEET so i could probably do more if i wasn't a lazy slob
>>
Like 7 hours if I'm lucky.

I know, not gonna make it.
>>
>>2496386

40-50
>>
>>2496858
I am a NEET but my dad lost his job in august so he's one as well and i always end up doing many hours of cleaning and outside labor even though i am not a "lazy" person by definition

I am lucky if i have 2 hours a day to draw as i have to be in bed by 10 and wake up at 6 fucking controlling
>>
M-F like fucking 1-5 hours total, if at all. Work keeps me very busy.
Weekends, at least 10 hours total. Exhaustion from the work week has throttled my stamina so it's hard to manage more than that while also sleeping off the week and preparing for another one.

When I'm not working, I can very happily go all day everyday (with breaks) if I include reading study, and not just straight drawing/painting. Don't know what that would look like as hrs/wk.
No idea how long I'd be able to sustain that though, since I've never been in that position for more than like a month at a time. But I've never felt burnt out by the end of one of those periods.
>>
>>2496849
I work 9-6 so I only get 4 hours of comfortable time to study a day, an hour during my lunch break, and 3 hours after work (in between dinner, chilling, and sleep).

Weekends I try to fit in at least 10 hours per day, but allowing myself time for friends and family. Saturday is best because don't really need to worry about getting up for work the next day.

Going to start waking up an hour earlier during the week, and then two hours earlier to get exercises in before work. After a month it should be routine so I won't be too tired. I usually try to wake up as early as possible on Saturday, while Sunday I let myself sleep the week off to like, 8 or 9am.

Just trying to find a healthy balance is important, and knowing when to rest. If you're doing it tired you're not helping yourself.

Hope that helps full-time anon.
>>
>>2496864
You're right, not with that attitude. But 7 hours a week is still more that none, and it's still progress. It might take a little longer but you'll get there eventually.
>>
I don't get how you guys have time to draw so much. Once I get home from school at like 4 I'm exhausted, and then I study like three hours. So that leaves me two hours of free time, in which I draw, read, watch TV, meet friends and go outside. That only becomes like 7 hours of drawing a week, maximum. Why is there so much to do, and so little time ;__;
>>
>>2497456
I work 45 hours a week and still draw 30. No effort=no gains
>>
>>2497488
you're gonna make it
>>
>>2497488
I just don't understand how. Aren't there other things you want to do as well? Like fucking sleep
>>
>>2497518

Sleep is for the weak. Sleep when you're dead.
>>
>>2497520
>>2497488

bullshit, and of course you're not going to show your work to prove your gain
>>
Twist: How many hours per week you spend on art while having 40h/week full-time job?
>>
>>2497518
After work and 30 hours of drawing, that anon still has over 13 hours of each day left. With a healthy 8 hour schedule, there's still over 5 hours left for transport, eating, random chores, going to a cafe or hanging out or whatever.

What's realistically happening if anon works mon-fri, though, is probably that he's pulling 8-10 hour days on the weekend and spreading the rest out in smaller chunks before/after work. Draw 8 hours on a Saturday (10-18, for example), you still have time to go out in the evening or whatever you want.

Learn to manage your time.
>>
>>2496516
Nile is ic's gay son so you leave my gay son alone you bitch
>>
>>2497534
*healthy 8 hour sleep schedule

Also, to the idiots going "sleep is for the weak," take advantage while it lasts. Once you get a bit older you won't be fired up about multiple 3-hour nights in a row.
>>
>>2496516
Honors? American? Swiss?
>>2496728
He's allowed to, but thanks booboo

>>
>>2497562

>>
>>2497536

>>
>>2497518
>Aren't there other things you want to do as well?
Not really.
>>
>>2496386
So I spend roughly between 3-4 hours every day of the week, so about 16 during the weekdays and about 6 on the weekend.
Is that enough? Is 24 good?
>>
>>2496386
Isn't measuring how long you spend on art already the wrong kind of attitude? Just work on improving earnestly day after day. That's all you need to do. Yes, really.
>>
>>2497522
I don't see how that is not believable
>post your work
Oh, I see you're just memeing, nevermind.
>>
I have to admit most of my extra time is reserved for lifting weights and running so I don't draw as much as I should. I'd say something like 3 hours a week.

18 hours per day
FUCK EVERYTHING DRAW OR DIE
>>
>>2497662
It depends. Sometimes you need to take stock of how you're managing your time. To see if you're being too hard on yourself, if you could be doing more, if you're getting tunnel vision and neglecting either art or the rest of your life, etc. It's only pointless dickswinging if you want it to be.

Probably around 25-30. I don't really have an average amount of time drawing per day but that's my guess. I'd like to draw more, but sometimes I can't get into "the zone" and everything I draw turns out like shit.

You deserve that sinking feeling. Maybe it'll prompt you to change your scrub ways.

Nice to get other people's suggestions on this matter
>>

Me described.
My only problem is that it's actually hard to get on the actual drawing. Usually I have tons of stupid assingments or it's the concept design thing, that might improve your design skills, but I don't think they do much for the drawing skiils. And yes, for me design =/= drawing.

Between 6-12 hours a day.

How many of you actually use something to track what software you are using, like manictime?
I'm guessing there's a lot of overestimates here.

Assuming you only need 4 hours 30 mins of sleep to function and the point of diminishing returns on a study is at 10 minutes.

You have 24 hours - 4.5 hours in your day:
19.5 hours

You spend 30 seconds on a gesture drawing:
~1 hour leaving you 18.5 hours left.

Figure drawing is more important than colours so you spend 10 minutes on each figure for 10 hours:
This gives you 60 figure drawings in 10 hours.
You have 8.5 hours left.

Value is more important than colour so you spend 6 hours on it every 10 minutes:
You have done 36 value studies.

2 hours are spent on colour every 10 minutes:
You do 12 colour studies.

The remaining .5 is spent on showering and eating.

You have: 4.5 hours of sleep.
You have: 1 hour of Gestures
You have: 10 hours (60 studies) of figure drawings.
You have: 6 hours (36 studies) of value drawings.
You have: 2 hours (12 studies) of colour drawings.
You have: 30 minutes of free time.

Hours spent drawing every day: 19 hours

That's awesome, the card and the bill are ok but what I'm most impressed about that piece is the wall texture. Looks incredibly convincing especially those little small prickly white bumps. You can just feel them against your fingertips. I have no idea how you rendered that?

when you guys write like 20 hours a day are you actually students in art schools like college or whatever? cause i'm still in school and i spend like 5 hours a week approx. next year i'll be in art school so i bet i'll start drawing a lot and feel less guilty.
>>
>>2496386
40 at school (serious not arty woopsy)
15 homework so still art
10 drawing for me

and 2 or 3 outside lime museums or parks when i can
>>
all of them
>>
>>2497530
I draw in the morning for like 20-40 minutes.
Draw at my desk.
Draw for like 60-90 minutes at lunch.
Sneak in some drawing in the afternoon.
Draw on the way home for like 20-40 minutes.
Start drawing at like 9 or 10 until like 1am.

I have a 3 hour drawing class on Fridays and I draw on the weekends.
>>
How do I put in 20+ hours a week into drawing? Where do I find the motivation?
>>
ITT: Idealistic liars
>>
>>2500924
how did you do the bill? looks very realistic
>>
>>2507483
start doing it every day and it will become easy to do that.

i spend about 5 to 8 hours a day drawing or researching drawing related matters. i only started actually perposfully drawing every day like 7 months ago though. i do see the improvements though.
>>
Here's a better question:

How much can you get out of 1 hour of practice?
>>
>>2507497
those are mostly fairly realistic numbers for any remotely serious artist.
