How do you develop a signature style, /ic/?
Like whenever your art is posted, people know its from you.
I wish i was the guy who drew pic related. People always mistake for someone else because i copy a lot.
I've heard that the more you force it, the harder it is.

Just find some stuff in your drawings that you think looks nice, practice exaggerating those things and focus on refining it so that they come out in every piece you make.

Copying will prolly degrade your style, mang.
Never seen it help an artist in the past. Copying a few small assets is fine, as that's referencing (at least how I see it as being defined, whereas copying not only takes the idea, but the piece itself), but copying whole pictures will get you guess where?

Draw eyes realistically.
Draw how your favourite animu draws them.
Draw them how you want your girl friend's/boy friend's to look.
Just screw around and learn what you like.

Some mistakes i did as an artist was copying animu shit and wanting my own style , still lacking anatomy skills , fuckin basics.
You just have to stop caring. Remind yourself that it will look good after some years and you will evolve .

If you're really bad, you tend to stick out. Malaysia, Chunbum, Illastrat, they all are instantly recognizable based on how shit they are. That's not something you should aim for.

You don't develop a signature style. You just become popular and associated with that style.
Look at Rebecca Sugar. There's a lot of people who draw like her, but since she's popular, that's become, "Oh hey, you draw a lot like Rebecca Sugar".
The only reason people are mistaking you for the other artist is because he's popular, not because he has a signature style.

Draw realistically from life, photos etc. Also draw in styles that you enjoy. Just continue to try and get better and the style will come naturally. But ya, don't try and force it. It will be a complication of all you and learned including your strengths and weaknesses. But don't use the weaknesses as an excuse of your style. The weaknesses I'm referring to are ones that are unique to you bb
