guys, i need help. i've got this friend in cegep who's taking art courses. i always thought he was good but a couple of months ago i came here and realized that he's literal fucking ass.
he symbol draws all his eyes, and when he's not symbol drawing he chicken scratches the fuck out of everything
he never tries to push himself and constantly uploads "sketches" (which are chicken scratched pieces of fuck) to facebook, deviantart, twitter, etc.
don't even get me started on the photography. oooh, and the paintings. holy fucking shit you guys. holy. shit.
i won't upload pics for fear that someone might track him down and hurt his feelings. how do i tell him that he's shit town 3000 without hurting his feelings? i want him to get better. i wanna see him progress. he hasn't progressed since i first met him. needless to say pic not related, i won't post his stuff.

OP again i forgot to mention it but also he signs every fucking thing he makes, even if it's totally unfinished.

In the art, any kind of art ,if you can't see your own error it's normal that this kind of things happend.
Here you go a good advice : "Do any draw with your max effort"dont worry if It take 2hours, 4hours ,dont give a fuck. That worked for my, maybe work for you friend, why? just because knowing your max effort with the time you will know if you really had a progress.That's how I know my progress.

Why wont you post his works or at least one of them? Maybe from that we could figure out what he has to improve on. I also have a similar experience w/ a friend who got to this really prestigious art school and for years, from what I observed, didn't really make an improvement. She consistently draws anime and hasn't strayed from the same style since.
