Does anyone have any good examples of western artists who have managed to break into the Japanese art market?
Picture related, I don't care what anyone says about anime, Weee's art fills my heart with warmth. https://twitter.com/weee_desu

those artists's primary audience is still western, whereas artists like weee actually get work from japanese companies and have a following in japan.
Why do you care? Only western kids are dumb enough to pay for this art

You're missing the point though, that there are western artists who are being hired by Japanese companies to produce card illustrations or game art (like weee). There are also animators like Thomas Romain, and recently Japan relaxed their visa restrictions for artists http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2016-03-02/japanese-government-plans-to-relax-visa-restrictions-on-foreign-animators-designers/.99300 .
I care because I think it's rad that some people are actually achieving their childhood dream of becoming a mangaka desu etc. and the barriers between the Japanese and Western game and art markets are diminishing a little bit.

japanese artists have worked for american companies and vice versa, this isn't new.
Paul Pope was actually a mangaka for a while.
