Company putting out a different product in a different region isn't censorship you /v/ child.
not /ic/
>>
>>2431633
I feel like there should be no censorship in art, because art is supposed to be polarizing.

Still, like >>2431641 said, a company have their own rights to do whatever they want with their properties. Even if I absolutely hate it.
Fuck Konami
If you disagree with something, put your money where your mouth is and simply don't buy it.

They covered up the cleavage with an undershirt and made the straps of her shirt opaque.

The girl is the first image is suppose to be 16. She shouldn't be showing off any cleavage at all, it's disgusting to see cleavage on teens.
>>
waste of time and money in my opinion like the OP pic
but if the company wants to avoid problems I guess they can do whatever they want, I don't really care

only time I would consider is if they remove some chunks of gameplay like the petting minigame from the new fire emblem.

When a company is targeting young adults or adults and they feel something to be censored it's a bad idea.

Now now, anon. Just because you believe it to be disgusting does not make it true. Different cultures around the world think differently on what is appropriate and what isn't. Step outside your own cultural bias.

Plus there's the whole mess of it being 2d, that I don't want to get into.

extreme people
like first most people start out in the middle or have no opinion, next someone sees a loud extremist that's on one side
eventually that guy gets annoyed by the extremist and goes to the very opposite side because they don't want to be associated with annoying extremist
ironically though they sometimes become extremists themselves and only see black/white

basically people on both ends flinging shit at each other
if that's not the origin then it's something else like being born into it I dunno

If a company chooses to leave out content, that isn't censorship
If I'm making a comic and I decide to get rid of some text from an early draft that I felt didn't fit, I'm not censoring anything

I have 2 problems with it, most censorship in cartoons and video games are annoying for these reasons.

-Here in America, on the radio you can hear words like ass, bitch, NIGGA etc. Also on TV on show that air before 8PM you can see bra and panties, men in nothing but underwear in TV and even commercials. Yet God forbid in a cartoon or game a character has her ass showing or cleavage.

-The part that bothers me the most is I'm 25, I'm an adult. I don't need other adults telling me what it good and what's not good for me to see or hear. Fuck off.
>>
>>2431672

keep in mind that the content isn't censored for you, an adult, but for the target audience. You, as an adult, are choosing to partake in things meant for a younger audience, so don't be disappointed when they don't pander to you exclusively
>>
>>2431767
Why is none of this censored in Japan then? There is no difference in the target audience.
>>
>>2431771
this may come as a shock to you, but different countries have different cultures and values

/ic/ really is fucked. I mean, I knew 4chan was getting bad, but I never thought I'd see the day where artists here defended censorship.

I care. Couple years ago this place was unified on this subject, suddenly I'm seeing just how much like reddit it has become. I was just stopping in to get some help, but I don't think the same people are here at this point. It's time I moved on if this place really is this cucked.
>>2431818
Are their parts of the image being suppressed for being deemed socially unacceptable?

Hell, I think this game looks like garbage but this is not something artists should ever be okay with.
>>
>>2431771
The don't necessarily get their ideas right about their target audience or understand the effect of their assumptions. They have decided to perpetuate the let's-be-afraid-of-our-bodies-and-thus-cause-unhealthy-perceptions-and-unnecessary-social-problems meme of America. By disallowing such benign bodily depictions, youngsters will be only be able to explore sexual feelings by means of viewing the commonly violent and rape-like pornography. In their mind a rift develops between "sex" and what's "not-sex", sexual feeling not only being associated with mere nudity, but also only allowed to be associated with morally-negative things.
These things are important for the healthy development of young people, to cover it up is doing a great injustice...
I'm going overboard here. But still, this game's for teenagers. They see cleavage everyday in school, and censoring it is kind of ridiculous no matter how you look at it.
I also never understand localization like this because I assume people (like me) would get into such games because of the Japanese content, and quite possibly the fact that it's made for a Japanese audience and not an American one.
>>
>>2431827
>this game's for teenagers

It's a Fire Emblem crossover with Persona. It's not aimed at teens at all unless you count 18-19 year olds.

Also, sage. This isn't /v/.

I'm 100% against government censorship, but companies are well withing their rights to change their products as they seem fit.

It is up to the market to decide if that change was good or bad. See: New Coke
>>
>>2431822
As an artist, I'm 100% for artists changing what they want in their work
>>
>>2431846
And yet censorship is still an inherently negative thing that no artist worth a shit should be defending.
>>2431852
A localization team censoring somebody else's art is quite a bit different than an artist changing their own work.
>>
>>2431870
this isn't an artist's personal work, this is something they drew for a company and at that point it's no longer "their" art, but the company's.
>>
>>2431767
Can someone explain why they removed the underwear costumes for WII U Fatal Frame? While I dont support it, I can understand why someone would censor a game that is rated T or lower, but Fatal Frame was already rated M, so now they are saying that Adults cant even make the choice of what content they want to see?
>>
>>2431898
you have the choice of buying the Japanese version if you want to prance around in a bikini so badly
>>
>>2431900
Then whats the point of removing it in the first place if can just go and buy the Japanese version, or better yet simply go watch some porn. They wasted time and money to simply lose more potential sales.
>>
Censorships are initiated by the company or by the governments where the product is sold?

If it's the first case, damn, there should be more complaining.

If it's the second case, damn, we need to fight for freedom again.
>>
>>2431912
it makes more business sense to market your product to the majority, not the loud minority.
FE: Fates has sold well and all of the weebs boycotting the game didn't make a dent in sales
>>
>>2431923
are you implying the majority of people drawn in by the other facets of the game would decide to not buy the game because of the inclusion of those costumes (which even have story relevance), or even care?
>>
>>2431923
I thought it was that concerned parent or whatever lobbyists that were responsible for the level of censorship in america, not public demand. it's the same ground that made our retarded pg rating system for movies.
>>
>Original artists vision
>Change it because you think it won't sell, west is made of babbies
>IT'S NOT CENSORSHIP IT'S LOCALIZATION
>Localization is the same as changing the original vision of an artist
>Art can be changed because someone didn't like it.
/ic/ pls
>>
Fuck off /v/ this has literally nothing to with art. Stop posting your shitty threads in other boards to check for cross-posters and to see if other boards in 4chan share your retarded views. (Most of time, they do anyway.)

What crosses the line as censorship is really hard to say anyway, because stuff that you come up with in a group (like say, a video game company) is overseen by other people. Feedback will be given, and the stuff made will be went over and changed. North american departments adding clothes to get past ESRB ratings counts as company imput, so if you're an autistic character designer in Japan, tough luck, that's a business.

This isn't even that big a deal anymore. Maybe you were traumatized by your mom banning pokemon from your house for satanism in 'muh childhood', but there's no need to get triggered by an american company adding even the slightest bit of extra clothing. Aren't there other reasons besides jacking off for you to play video games?
>>
I like the threat of censorship, because it forces artists to become smarter about their implementation to avoid backlash.

During periods with no ideological strain put on the arts, everyone becomes comfortable, stupid, and ultra fucking preachy. Which of course fires up the morons and leads to movements that take us into periods of increased scrutiny.
>>
>>2431633
I could care less. I can draw them naked anyway.

>>2432708

what the fuck, a lot of the dialog removed isn't even 'bad'. I've heard/seen worse shit on nickelodeon. This just seems like laziness, not censorship.
>>
>>2435555
really? I was pretty young when I first bought the GBA one. I don't think I'd particularly care to know my kids were playing a game where two characters were bragging about how many people they murdered, especially seeing how fucking poorly it's all written anyways. I think some of the censorship is just admitting that the original stuff was just too wordy/bland/pointless that two ninjas just having an ellipses contest would be funnier than trying to make japanese angst less cringy.
>>
I dislike the accessories more than the cleavage covering. Then again I really dislike jewelry as a whole.

If you don't like what the company does, just don't buy. SMTxFE is a disappointment for more reasons than the fanservice you can find on pixiv or a booru.

Censorship is why America has a problem with breastfeeding and why Japanese porn is usually disappointing.

The only exception I can think of would be extreme gore but at the same time I don't think we should censor anything.
>>
I don't like censorship, but in some cases it's understandable due to different cultures.
Only for things like visuals however. Actual text, subjects, and what not is a different story.
>>2435884
With JAV, it's also the fact that 99% of the time the woman sounds like she's getting raped. A bigger issue than the censors, really.
>>
>>2431633
Censorship is terrible on principle. The problem is a lot of kids these days are ok with it or even encourage it if what's being censored is something they don't care about.
>>
>>2431641

It's not censorship but still stupid and disrespectful to the original artists and their culture.

"Localization" is just a word soft-racists use to justify their ethnocentricity and other bigotries. It's a form of cultural segregationism where a foreign culture is subjugated through control of their exports.

When the UK "localized" Steve Universe it wasn't censorship in the strictest sense of the word but it was still wrong.
>>
>>2435994

Your SJW level is over 9000.

People don't want their kids being exposed to faggotry in their videogames and cartoons it's their right to have the content made acceptable to them. Just because fucking japs like to make their kids play porn games and watch faggot cartoons doesn't mean that shit should happen in my country.

Look at what has happened to Japan with all their porn and faggotry, they're going extinct because everyone faps instead of fucking. Keep that shit away from my kids until they're 18.
>>

Le epic troll pls. All normal people lost their virginity in 15-16 years
>>
>>2431773
Well no shit Sherlock. Obviously what is up for criticism is a culture that think's it's just to censor the labors of another culture for its own profit. Saying
>hur dur different cultures different values durrrr
Is just another way of saying precedent sets arbitrary standards of acceptability.

Also your argument is retarded based on the simple fact that all cultures like looking at women wearing underwear, just that some cultures want to pretend they don't
>>
>>2435994
You aren't missing anything from Steven Universe. It's a bad show anyway.
