So I was bored today and I've been watching the Harry Potter marathon all day on ABC Family. Never saw any of the movies but whatever I'm pretty smitten with the wizard world. Design wise from castles, house, clothing it's all very interesting and something that makes me want to draw.
How do people come up with wonderful ideas like this for art direction? I want to create my own ideas without stealing these.
Also, I gotta say that Hermione character got fucking sexy as fuck in like 2 years time. Goddamn.

Check out The Noble Aproach by Maurice Noble, it's about stage and prop design in animation but it'll help you a lot to put a misce en scene in an illustration.

Anyway, the art of the wizard world in the films is nice. The first two movies are pretty bad but everything picks up soon after. Also, as someone said they ditch wizard clothes early.

I didn't know it was just for diversity. I know that when you make a play you just use actors you have in the theatre and authentic representation takes a back seat. I mean it would be retarded when you have 3 black actors in a theatre and now you can't use them because you are doing hamlet or something where black people probably wouldn't be but it doesn't fucking change the story if they are there. So I don't give a fuck about a play. Even in movies I wouldn't mind that much unless it's an iconic character where you really want to capture the look of the character in the actor or race is important to the story. Like the Dark Tower movie. Race is really important in that story and the gunslinger is very iconic because King was very vocal about how he looks like Clint Eastwood and describes him in the book quite vividly.
