Do you guys like my dino head I made out of rusty nails and superglue?
>>2396396
do you like tetanus
>>2396488
Considering I'd have to radically puncture myself to contract it I'm not all that worried. I've put 50+ hours of work into this so far and I haven't injured myself yet.
This is actually pretty cool. To take something deemed very unpleasant to work with and turn into a detailed art piece is impressive!
>>2396396
I'm always impressed at how some artists find use in the most underappreciated media.
>>2396396
Pretty neat, I'd buy it

Thx guys. I don't really consider myself an artist. This is the only piece of art I've actually done. Initially I just wanted to make a skull, but I had so much fun with it and I felt like I could improve it. I'm planning on doing the rest of the body in time.
Sort of a rough idea of the bodyshape and size. It'll be about 40 inches long when it's complete.
Any suggestions from some actual artists?
Neat desu senpai
I wish I had advice, all I can say is good job. I'm afraid of what it might look like in the end. I have a feeling this is one of those things where you really like it at first but as you progress it looks like shit.
>>2396396
Really cool! Get yourself in some welding and blacksmithing classes.
>>2396396
Pretty good so far, OP.
I think you inspired me to use alternative materials for a personal work.
Thank you very much.
Btw, what did you use to trim those nails man?
TIA.
>>2397310
Bam.
Nothing fancy. Just some pliers and sidecutters.
I pretty much suck at art in general, but something about recycling used materials to make shit with is super appealing. I don't even care if my stuff turns out like crap. It's just fun to do.
Pretty sweet, OP. Only thing I would say is the contrast between the the rusted metal and the clean is a little distracting. It keeps drawing my eyes when I want to look elsewhere; Not the eye, but rather the piece for the flesh in the mouth. That or its because of how straight that piece is. Look up some lizard ref; typically there are two pieces of flesh that make up that part. Obviously its up to you what you do with it.
That's my two cents Hope you'll post more as you keep working on it; I'd love to see it finished.
>>2397325
Damn man. Thank you for this. Got a blog or something I'll follow you on this progress.:D
>>2397368
Naw, I completely get you. I'm not too concerned with accuracy considering it's an extinct creature, so I can take some liberties with design. But, I have the same problem with the membranes in the mouth being too distracting. I used a beer can for those bits and crumpled the metal to give a more organic look to it, but it does contrast with the rest of the colour scheme. I'll probably redo them at some point.
And the eyes aren't stainless steel. My intention was that if I didn't like the look of them, I could rust them myself over time.
>>2396630
I work with wire and even I dont have anything to say about it.
Damn good job.
Hey guys . Got bored with the cryolophosaurus and decided to make a post apocalyptic dieselpunk necromancer. I'll post some progress pics.
I figured a necromancer needs a revolver. Right? I mean it just makes sense.
Anyways, this is as far as I've gotten atm. Still figuring out what I want to do with the helmet. The revolver is completely finished tho.
Opposite side.
And the bottom. Sort of a size comparison for you.
Cool designs from simple nails. Before I saw you hold that revolver in a hand, it was looking rather large.
>>2401135
Iz so teeny tiny.
Granted this guys gonna be super tall based off of how big is helmet is.
>>2401142
For an action figure that is huge. I guess full height of a figure you're working on might be compared to height of an average pc case. Helmet does look big enough.
I wonder how is this art called like. Looks interesting.
>>2401181
If the body ends up in scale with the head he's gonna be roughly 28 inches tall. I wanna give him creepy slenderman proportions. Exaggerated long long and slender torso kind of deal.
>>2401193
That's huge but probably would be looking badass. Keep it up.
I've googled a bit, seems art you are developing is called scrap-metal art. And I believe with practice you can get some good from it. Good luck in your endeavours
>>2401181
Nail art
>>2402534
By googling that all you'll get would be woman nail designs. But yeah.
>>2396396
i'd say you nailed it
nice, OP, nice. i work with nails, tree thorns and driftwood, glued with cyano and sometimes welded with a soldering iron.
what kind of glue is superglue? cyanocrylate? because i can't see exactly the kind of glue you are using.
do you rust the nails? how?
i remove rusted nails from old pallets, but if i need a special size or shape i heat new nails to bright red and then rust them with acid, if in a rush
>>2403123
Pic related.
Gorilla goo niggas. Specifically the super glue. The other shit they have available takes way too long to dry. Don't have a soddering/weldingtool but I'd like to get something eventually.
We did a reno job on a workshop at my parents and I collected all of the rusty nails from the floorboards.
>>2396396
noice, doe it looks more like a majungasaurus.
Is spooky necromancer.
>>2403123
Post some more of your art dude. I'm genuinely interested.
>Also necromancers left arm. Working on designing gauntlets for him.
yo if u make a facebook page for this art I'd def want to like it to keep up w progress, neat stuff
>>2406432
Seconded, I'd love to follow your work.
