what exercises do you do to learn clothing?

i feel like i know the theory in terms of single pieces of cloth and the varieties of folds, but i just get overwhelmed when it comes to adding clothing to a figure

eh, practice drawing drapery from life? look at a curtain and draw it, look at your jeans and draw it, wake up in the morning but don't make your bed and draw your sheets...

check out the still life thread. drapery is also a popular still life subject and you use the same principles as drawing still life

Well from experience you gotta have a sense of gravity to make the curves and you have to have prior knowledge in the materials that made up the cloth.
