What style of fashion are you interested in designing? Personally, I generally go for haute couture, mostly because I like dreaming of my ideal wardrobe.

It looks like you're already getting there but I would suggest playing with color. Have you tried sketching fashion croquis? They really help with the graphic nature of the illustration.
I have a few okay books on the subject of fashion illustration and a few other books about designing and details if you want to read em.
