fun fact: i have to write in all caps to be legible to my own goddamn self.

i wish there was more actual neuroscience interest in handwriting as opposed to all the shitty pseudoscience. it taps into some other part of the brain, that's for sure. i've always had shitty, inconsistent handwriting, in english + chinese, but when i do chinese calligraphy, which is pretty much brushwork, i do fine.

meanwhile, my sister has incredibly neat, consistent handwriting in english + chinese, but doesn't draw and has meh calligraphy.

on the plus side, my signature is really hard to forge. cuz if it looks anything like my previously written signatures, it's a fake.

Yeah, it was not my happiest day at school. I'm struggling to keep up my art and creativity time, how a bout you?

Here, have a failed attempt at a complete cell cycle chart with my "official" handwriting, so that people can read it. Swedes generally have trouble with handwritten and loose letters so I sometimes change it for my friends sake.
>>
>>2382947
hgggghhhhh cell biology is awwwwful, your handwriting is still super neat though, which is cool. I'm the kind of asshole who learns best by writing things out over and over again so I rarely draw diagrams to understand things. As for art and creativity, I've started making a weekly schedule sort of thing to account for studying + practising drawing. It's split up something like ~8 hours studying throughout the week, ~3 hours anatomy and 3/4 hours drawing practice with at least one finished drawing, regardless of quality, every week. It makes life easier and kinda makes you feel like you can actually accomplish a lot in a week

Like, 8 hours every day or 8 hours spread out over an entire week?
I learn best by not attending lectures so I mostly sit at home and learn, but somehow never manage to get a consistent drawing scheme. I'm happy skipping class works since I need to commute to my uni. It's 1 h 10 min away by train. I'm only doing my second year and after the theoretical courses it's time for clinicals. By then I'll get shuffled to my local hospital where I'll attend from 8AM-4PM mon-thursday. I'll need a good scheme and a lot of energy to keep going with both drawing and medicine. I really hope I'll make it, and you too anon!

shit now I'm curious, what research in particular? I'm thinking of applying to work with stem cells in the RIKEN institute when I graduate, hence trying to get a leg up on nipponese first (also because muh chinese cartoons)
>>
>>2383173

WTF? I've been interested in stem cell tissue engineering since I was a kid. So far I have not been able to find a suitable research group at my uni (they mostly deal with diabetes and general pancreas faggotry (sorry all pancreases in the world, I didn't mean it like that youre important but a bit boring)), so I'll have to either look at other uni in Stockholm or abroad.

I'm a bit paranoid on the intrewebz but how can I recognize you here on /ic/?
>>
>>2383183
shiiiit are you me swedish anon? Currently studying at a Uni in the UK that's got a brilliant Stem Cell research centre, so fingers crossed atm. Shit I'm not sure, I'll come back to you if I come up with something swedebro, unless you've got any ideas?

I can sign my future uploads of the stuff I practice here at /ic/, maybe we can recognize eachother's handwriting? If you hang around here much I'll just try to catch you, but I can't pull an awesome idea right now. I'll just keep hanging around in this thread and hope it lives until I come up with something.

It just looks like my normal handwriting which is a constantly varying abomination between cursive and print.
>>
>>2385619
I think stylistically it reflects technical drawing of the few hundred years before CAD became common. It's associated with technical trades. Architects, designers, machinists, engineers, who likely began writing that way for title blocks, callouts, dimensions, etc. And as cursive fell out of common use when people started writing very little, caps became sort of the practical default for ease of legibility.

Capital letters also now carry a huge weight in text communication. We rely on them to convey emotions and level of formality, to separate jokes from insults. Maybe people handwrite in all capitals to avoid giving unwanted messages, a neutral format.

All that said, I see adults here in the US write in all lowercase just as much as all capital letters. I know German uses capital letters to more effect than English, maybe other languages do too. This allows for faster reading as does capitals at the beginning of sentences. Though non-greek (Korean, Chinese, Arabic, etc), based languages don't even have capital letters as far as I know, as evidence of their lack of necessity.

That's all the crap I can come up with... interesting to ruminate on-

I hope to one day find that I have some genetic cerebellar disorder or perhaps a degenerative disease to explain my awful handwriting because I don't know how else it's possible to not improve handwriting at all over almost thirty years of life.
>>
>>2385692
It's not that bad, definitely appears to be adult handwriting for whatever it's worth. lowercase f and g are nice.
>>
>>2385675
>I know German uses capital letters to more effect than English
True. Our grammar is a bit more distinct in that department. I never actually thought about how that improved legibility.
It would be completely unacceptable to write in caps only though. (First, most people would think you're kinda retarded, like someone using too much question- and exclamation marks and secondly, many people would probably feel like they're being screamed at)
