Does anyone have any good monster/fantasy characters tutorial?
>>
Combine different animals/bugs/plants/objects together. Easy.
>>
>>2374517
Can you post some characters you have done with that method?
>>
>>2374540
This is how most designs are made.
Look around you......
>>
>>2374540
Are you stupid? Look at any fantasy character design ever.

Why aren't you using your ability to observe the world and mix visual elements you find interesting and appropriate?

don't listen to this faggot. One of the most "retarded noob" way you can possibly imagine.

Surprisingly there are not so many of them. And i mostly draw monsters and enemies for games, animate them/design them for years already. I was searching for tutorials back in 2006 but now i don't need them. I just have "inspiration" that helps me to design stuff all by myself.
It started from me being interested in biology and paleontology as a kid + being a huge nerd about monsters and Kaiju movies during 90s.

Hmm...i guess i can just say for now - find best artists that draw amazing fantasy monsters and try to be as inspired as them.

Like for example - the rat on your OP-picture.
Imagine similar rat only drawn in your style.
Try to give it a different pose, design different rat face and do some research on fantasy armor.
May be don't give him a round shield but give him 2 swords with poison dripping from them.
Add for example "skull armor" on his shoulder.

And that's it - you have a unique your own monster. Even the start of inspiration was your example drawn by a completely different artist.

I can dump my collection here if you want.
PS:
Btw download an entire gallery of picrelated artist.

btw this advice is wrong too.
Forget about "muh draw from natur xD" stuff when you designing monsters.
It works only if you need to give them good looking "muscle anatomy" or visible bones.
the art of being a monster designer is a compeltely different thing with its own rules.

plz do love to see it. i have been on picarto.tv and try to copy some off them. but not so many that draws real monsters mostly forry and shit there

Your brain cannot create new information. You're still recycling what you've seen, be it inorganic geometry or animal anatomy. You may not even be aware of what visual memory your brain is drawing inspiration from, but that's what happens anyway.

picrelated is quite "new".
I mean i know its inspired by some fish including a Blowfish. But still you can't just imagine this monster with all its harmony and neat design just by "looking at a regular nature elements".
There are other rules that apply to monster design that you should use.
>>
>>2375379
wait, no not a blowfish but that "sea devil" fish that use light to attract prey.
PS:
Wait...
Not to mention that its actually NOT TRUE because the mouth has a completely different structure.
It's just a regular fish body with really creative thinking - exactly what im talking about. You can't learn this just from knowing basics about nature.

ok lets start from gifs. For example here is a mollusk that has really thick tentacles that build a body so it looks like a human with helmet holding a trident. while its actually just a mollusk

interesting take on some realistic stuff.
notice how that fish-thing has an upside-down head.
Also details are inspiring and easy to use on your own drawings without making it look like it was "stolen"

Also it's sounds unrealistic but to see monsters you'd better go to DA.
I already gavey you pictures with artists names on filenames. Just go to their galleries and go through their favs or folders.

That's pretty much all you need for now.
