as far as I am concerned abstract art tends to fit one of two categories, very good or very bad. and I rank those categories based on the amount of time/effort/layers/details that go into a piece, and for that reason Twombly's work fits into both categories of great and fucking garbage.

I love Twombly and the other action painters, but the color field artists (and anything tending toward minimalism) generally bore me.
