Go to sleep. When you wake up and feel better, read a book about whatever it is you want to study. Draw while you're reading it, copy the author's images and draw your own that apply the concept. If you only ever draw from reference you won't truly learn and you'll always be frustrated.

This is going to sound pretentious etc but I've always been very imaginative since I was a kid so that might be why imagining is very easy for me. (Doesn't mean I'm very good at drawing though, being able to imagine what you want to achieve is good but without the tools and formulas to reach that goal you won't go anywhere.)
I'd recommend people who have difficulties with this to mediate and practice visualizing things. Even if it's just a few minutes a day.

I've been using the Pomodoro technique for about two years, you could find apps for it if you haven't heard of it.
I draw at least 2 hours a day 7 days a week with no distractions, I basically haven't skipped a day in over two years.

i ended up going with traditional file storage instead of mysql blobs since my host limits sql dbs to 1gb. I have 100gb storage space or 250k files (whichever comes first) so even if the number of submissions doubles it'll still take years before the file limit becomes a concern

I've just been playing around with photoshop brushes for my submissions, I've been doing more useful practice along side it but I usually just submit the fun mess-around drawings because those are the ones I like seeing from other people.
