As for the low effort warning... how do you know that one isn't putting a 30 minutes effort or not? What is the criteria? I'm a noob and my 30 minutes half-finished sketch might look like an advanced artist's 5 minute sketch...?
In addition to this, more than half of the submissions I've seen there are gesture studies. I only do those rarely and mostly do mango shizz... and seeing lots of people Loomis-ng and being all gungho about figure drawings on this board make me feel like I'll be backslashed if I posted muh drawings.
Anyhow, where do you guys even get the motivation to do pose sketches all the times. Don't you ever get sick of it? (As for me I do human mango doodling 70% of the time, environment 10% of the time, non-human studies 15% of the time and only 5% of my time is allotted to gestures)

There seems to be a bug in the gallery where clicking on certain thumbnails opens another person's image. For example I was browsing day 2 of the challenge, clicked on sweaterfag's submission and it opened Loafer's pic.

the site can't survive without linking to everything instead of hosting it. despite offloading everything the site still maxes out on cpu and I/O during peak times.
more importantly i dont want to limit people like that. i like that people can link to their blogs if they want to maybe get a little exposure or they can dump it on an image host if they want to stay anonymous.

i almost did something dumb. i can set it so that if you link directly to an image file (ending in .png, .jpg, .jpeg, .gif) then you won't need to submit a thumbnail. it will just automatically download and convert it for you. with a lot of extra work i can make it pull from direct links to tumblr posts, deviations, imgur, etc. That would mean that 95% of submissions would have their thumbnails auto generated.
the reason it's dumb is because it's 4 hours before the deadline and once again im rushing to implement a feature that probably won't work well (it'll work for 99% but some weirdness will slip through.)
I'm going to go do my drawing for the day and fix the elimination bug. When the site rolls over I'll make it so that if you don't need to add thumbnails for direct image links. the rest can come later.

I think that the whole system should be changed. If you miss out, you're kicked out. You have to redeem yourself in the challenge arena in order to get back in the game. Make it truly a last artist standing, until there is only one. Like a fucking reality show. This could be like season 1, once you get a winner you'd start season 2, etc.

Plan a narrative, expressions, poses backgrounds etc. and follow them strictly.
Drawing with purpose and narrative in mind helps a lot.
Try animating simple thinks like a head, nose, body rotation or a walk cycle. It will do wonders for your understanding of form.
