The fuck is everyone's problem on this board? You people call others faggots for stupid like, and totally neglect real criticism. Some are really willing to critic artwork, and that's great, but it's like a whole 3/4ths of this board is taking out their insecurities on other people, because they know nobody wants to buy their MLP deviantart bullshit.

Just find some place else senpai.

Hi there newfag

Would you rather have this board flooded with unnecessary tripfags and circlejerk threads instead?

>it is shit because it is shit desu
The quality of the content posted here depends only on the posters you know
It's not some imugbeard magic that makes things the way they are. It's the posters.
>>
Because it's anonymous. Not only does that provide the obvious freedom to be a shithead and discourage empathising with fellow posters, but it also doesn't help that half the time we have no idea of the skill level of the people giving or asking for advice, no one has a reputation that helps a lot in being able to give or trust a critique, and that a huge amount of posters are uncommitted beginners asking the same questions over and over with very limited willingness to actually take advice, which in turn makes those willing to give critiques grow jaded that they're most likely wasting their time for no reason. And giving an online stranger advice has pretty much no reward to begin with. It's like struggling with giving a dollar to a hobo in a world where 80% of hobos are actually spoiled rich kids trying to get you on their youtube prank channel.

This place is best used as a casual hangout for like minded people, and as a resources bin. These things are unaffected by anonymity at worst, and at best actually benefit from it in the ability to have much more candid conversations uninhibited by manners or ego, and to share pirated content.

Really, why WOULD this place be good?
But it takes all kinds to make a world, and sometimes a special cesspool like this is just what you need. You can get a positive art hub elsewhere, but where else can you get this kind of shameless negativity?

Don't be retarded and act like that's the single only alternative to having a bunch of people here just to shit on others and make themselves feel better.

That's constantly the argument I see in reaction to "why are so many of you completely shitty, petty and unhelpful for no reason?" People just go "B-BUT H-H-HUGBOXES W-WE JUST TELL IT LIKE IT IS!"

A lot of people here mistake bluntness and unkindness for honesty. They aren't the same thing. "Not sugarcoating it" doesn't mean "coming to the board hoping to shit on people."

blog?

People have different opinions, are on different level of drawing and have different approaches to it (hobby, doing it professionally, doing it for girls), but all have the same right to judge and post.

It's good and bad, but IMHO it's mostly good. Everything is buzzing. Conflict is interesting. People are (more or less) honest.

It's good for you too, since you can recognize when someone is just a faggot and when someone is harsh faggot that knows his stuff and you truly are more shit than you think.

As the other guys said - you want hugbox/different approach, go somewhere else. There's plenty of sites that provide different critique.

Ask yourself what would be best for you though. And seriously, for lots of people into drawing minimzing Dunning Kruger effect and coping with critique (and developing self-critique) can only be for the better.

Hey OP, you enjoying your first two weeks on 4chan?

This already happens. Just look at the porn or stylization general. If you actually think /ic/ is immune to circlejerk bullshit, you're a moron.

You should have been here in /ic/'s golden days when anime and stylized stuff wasn't allowed. Everyone was mean as shit but people also genuinely wanted each other to get better. The only thing /ic/ is good for now is gathering resources from others.
