I have a drawing pad (Ugee) and Krita. Is it OK to start with this or should I simply stick to pencil drawing?

Should I simply stick to doing various exercises or should I just draw whatever is on my mind? I'd like to make steady progress but want to avoid getting bored in the process.

Thanks for any tips.

Do both.
I started digitally and when I decided to go back to traditional for a while I started retaining things a lot quicker, because I actually cared if I fucked up since it was harder to fix. But that doesn't mean you can never do digital.

you will never be good at drawing, quit now

Also "do both" applies to exercises vs drawing what's on your mind too. Do personal projects, but learn your fundamentals. You can always apply what you've learned to the things you want to do.
