calm your tits, he isn't necessarily invent this idea before anyone else but he is the first person I've seen demonstrate it. It is not just gesture drawing, it's an interesting abstraction of the body. He uses cylinders to represent the shoulders and hips and draws the body like a folded piece of paper to demonstrate the twist of the torso. I hadn't seen the idea before he demonstrated it and I found it very helpful in my figure drawing.
