How long does it take /ic/ to fill an entire sketchbook? I've only filled 4 sketchbooks this year.

>brb
>committing sudoku because poor discipline

ihve had the same sketchbook for about three years now. nearly done with it
>>
>using overpriced tiny sketchbooks
>not using cheap and generally larger copy
paper

3 months for a sketchbook ain't bad. Don't beat yourself up for that. Pat your stupid ass on the back, and then challenge yourself to fill one up in 2 months. Finished? Keep up that pace until it feels easy, then challenge yourself to do one in a month.

Small steps lead to big changes because they're easier to maintain. Negativity breeds contempt, so be proud you filled 4 more sketchbooks then the average d/ick/head.

Dunno. But I'm on my twelfth sketchbook book for the year. It was a fun experiment and I'll probably do it again next year.
Also, drawing everyday. Do that. It's good. Trust me.
Though last year I was pretty bad with keeping a book.
>>
>drew in first 20 pages or so this year
depression... but I did other projects, totaling about roughly 80 hours of art. So IDK. I will work on it more this year.

Depends on a lot of factors. But 4 a year is good.

When I was in school I went through 3 a year. Now less. But it's hard to keep track because I have 3 or 4 going at once: one for roughs and ideas, one for wet media, one for travel.. etc

Also, nowadays, I do all my roughs and figure drawings on 18x24 pads.

I'm working part time as an illustrator now and ironically use my sketchbooks much less. I'm just finishing one I got in 2014. It's mostly full of nonsense and garbage.

About 2 months usually. Depends on which sketchbook, though. I usually get a 144 page one and draw on both sides of a page.

Just draw every day, anonfriend. Don't necessarily worry about the rate at which you're filling sketchbooks. You could fill one real fast if you just spammed 1 minute gestures, or you could fill it very slow if you did much slower studies or other practice. Just draw in it every day.
>>
I wrote 'December 2015' on the top of my current book to motivate me to finish it before the end of the year. I'm about 1/3 through and 1/2 the month is gone so I have to step it up a bit. Usually go at a much slower pace though, on every few months

It also depends how much you use it for sketching down quick ideas or if its a book for more refined pieces that take ages

>twelfth sketchbook book for the year.

Good effort
>>
I've finished one and started like 4, yet I still tend to use printer paper in a binder because fucking up a good sketchbook makes me anxious.

>ooh anon are you drawing?

>y-yes

>can I see your sketchbook?

>hand over my sketchbook

>watch their face turn into a mask of disappointment as they see all my shitty half finished ideas, warmup sketches and thumbnails.

43 since June. Is it filled with fancy finished drawings every page? No, I save those for my fancy sketchbooks.
>>
>>2317507
this hasn't happened to me since junior high

are you still in junior high or just your drawing ability?

For one with sketching, about 2-3 weeks. for one with finished drawings, 1-2 months. for one with watercolor, 1-3 months depending on the weather.
the sketching and finished drawing ones have 100 pages. the watercolor ones have 60 pages
>>
>>2317308
i use a sketchbook with paper actually cheaper than copy paper.
>>
>>2317974

Where are you getting 500 page sketchbooks for cheaper than like 5 dollars?

Usually it takes me about a semester of college to finish one or two sketchbooks.
Summer vacation can range around 2-4 depending on travel and whether or not I'm motivated enough.

A good thing that helps is to use a sharpie for mindless drawing and experimentation, then switch to my comfy-zone 2h lead holder for more finished shit. Also experiment with markers and different pens. Sometimes if I draw a shitty head on a page, I'll skip or even tear out the page and tell myself "draw a better one, dumbass" and usually that works. The more you treat a sketchbook as a stream-of-conciousness, rather than a book-of-finished-works, you run through sketchbooks before you know it.

Same, instead mine are full of some twisted bodies, and then they ask how I get those ideas and I tell them that I hallucinate them which is true and then they slowly walk off

Nigger, I'm not even halfway through one.

Doesn't that really depend on how you use your sketchbook, how big the sketchbook is, how big your drawings are, and how much you like to cream on a single page?

One girl I know almost only does fully rendered drawings in her sketchbook, so it takes a long time to finish one.

Then you have faggots like me who like to just fill countless pages with practice drawings, quick sketching, ideas, thumbnails and experiments.

For me it depends on where I am. If I am at home I draw digitally and on normal paper, if I'm out a lot I use my sketchbook. I once filled 75% of a sketchbook up in a month, because I kept everything exclusively to the sketchbook.
>>
I have a sketchbook for home, one for my work truck, a watercolor/gouache one, and a pocket sized book I carry with me during the day.
>>
>>2317305
Never bought a sketchbook. I buy carstock by the thousand and it usually lasts me 14-16 months.
>>
Professionals don't use traditional mediums. So none. I haven't filled a single sketchbook this year.
>>
I fill one a month, sometimes two weeks per book, im on number 19 now
>>
two weeks per sketchbook for me.
>>
>>2320036
Yeah, professional faggots
>>
I haven't even filled out a whole one this year.
~40 pages until I'm done with it.
>>
>>2320036
Post your work faggot.
>>
Three or four months.
>>
>>2317305
the least ammount of time i had a sketchbook was 2 weeks.
>>
>>2317305
I bought a 100 page sketchbook a few weeks ago and I just ran out of pages.
>>
>>2317305
Anything i draw i delete or burn i dont keep my own failures
>>
>>2317308
I use blank accounting books as sketchbooks, the pages are thickier than copy paper, that way i can sketch with chinese ink and watercolour without going through the paper. they are cheaper than art sketchbooks and have a similar quality.
>>
>>2321218
but that way you won't learn from your mistakes
>>
>>2321226
What kind?
>>
Last one took 9 days, the one before that a month, Before that I was using several, Now I'm back to several.

I'm a professional and I draw traditionally every single day. At the start of the day to warm up at work, While eating lunch, When I'm hanging out with my colleagues grabbing a beer, When I'm hanging out with friends, While watching movies, Before I fall asleep at night in bed.
