While I tend to agree that (whether people realize or not) music / other stuff is a little distracting and it'll probably impact your quality, if it means you can stay engaged for longer without getting impatient it's still a net plus.
If music keeps you in the mood it's still better off than you fully concentrating but getting anxious and impatient.
Not to mention there are tons of parts in a drawing that are relatively mindless anyway.
Not a specific answer, but Im doing comics, so I always try to listen to something fitting situations I draw. So something sad - some sad music and so on. I also agree that music is kinda deconcetrating so I use music when I am doing easy or mindless work - for me it is coloring and shading. Because otherwise I catch myself just staring at paper listening to stuff instead of drawing anything. D:

I don't listen to anything while im drawing and blocking in, but when it gets to mindless rendering you can get away with listening to music I feel
