Floating heads, usually dudes. Futa. Lineart, no rendering or color. That's the shit I doodle when I'm not feeling up to pushing myself.
>>
>>2315072
anatomy, perspective, poses, i'm like the complete opposite of tumblrs, but I can't render for shit so all my stuff looks bad/incomplete.

Drawing all kinds of crazy characters.
Yes:
Drawing is awesome/character designer.
NO:
Its painful to draw/imagine backgrounds. Also every time i need to draw logo or game menus (after i will design characters) i feel like im an autist with no skills.
I can draw over 9000 characters in 1 day. But i will spend a whole week for drawing 1 logo or background.

Not drawing at all.
I want to learn but it's hard and I try to do different things to keep myself away from draw studies. I need to ask myself few serious question what I want to do in life, I guess.

I'm really solid when it comes to linework and cel shading, especially in a stylized manner. But I'm garbage when it comes to rendering things in a realistic manner digitally

Isn't comfort zones actually despair zones? In comfort zones, you basically do the same thing over and over. As a result, your creativity and skills stay stagnant, and you are going nowhere. Eventually, you will be stuck as someone who is mediocre, or worse.
>>
>>2315150
I'm the opossite of that. My rendering is ok but my anatomy and poses look stiff as hell when I try traditional. I recomend you Scott robertson how to render videos for the best introduction for this foundation you can find, what do you recommend for lines and anatomy, friend?

Not really. It's the opposite actually. People who develop a comfort zone get good at something and are having fun with certain subjects. They are the ones who will be hired to work on projects.

Most big clients don't want allrounders who are average at everything, they want experts who are great at their thing. The typical /ic/ philosophy of studying absolutely everything and never dedicating time to really getting good at one or two particular things will leave you mediocre at everything, never good enough to find proper work.
>>
>>2315481
I don't think it's a good idea to make sweeping generalizations like that. There are two competing theories--specialization and generalization of skillsets. As long as you are at a professional level you will get work with either approach. Studio positions often will prefer it if you have more generalized skills, especially for smaller or mid-sized studios. Freelance will often hire based more on specialty. But either approach can get work both freelance and studio, as long as you are skilled and work quickly and can follow instructions.
>>
>>2315489
>As long as you are at a professional level you will get work with either approach

Of course, but even that way you will still have developed a comfort zone. Comfort zone just means something you are good at and that you enjoy drawing. Every in-house artist who is tasked with drawing a great variety of stuff will dislike certain tasks and feel much more comfortable with others. Having a comfort zone doesn't mean you can't draw anything but one thing.

Fucking faces. I can render a face from imagination but give me an arm and im completely fucked.
If backgrounds than interiors.
>>
>>2315452
I really like george bridgman's way of separating the forms( i use his drawing from life book), i know some figure drawing from vilpuu and anatomy from stephen roger's Atlas of Human Anatomy for the Artist

This. I love to draw a bunch of characters doing normal stuff but if you ask me to place them in a background where they are realistically occupying the space and start to draw squiggly not-confident-at-all lines that shows minimal info about the space they're in.

faces, constantly. always gesture drawings, i kind of hate that it's all i draw. sometimes hands

Definitely not gouache.
FUCK gouache.
Holy shit.

>>
>>2316265
Its a bitchy medium thats for sure.

But it is a good teacher, so let it teach you to mix colors
>>
>>2316265
What gouache did you use? If your problem is how layers re-active with water, then you could try acrylic gouache which makes this problem much easier to deal with.

To prefix this all, I never go past the sketch stage of anything
>simple mannikins of figures
>thin, young, big bootied women
>no heads
>shitty boobs
>photo copies
>no lower legs
>no value work
>copies from art books
>never any original work

Comfort zone. Water color, pencil, pen, charcoal, acrylic, color pencils, crayons, chalk, pixels, wood carving, clay modeling.

Out of the zone, oil paint, carving stones, and rest of the art mediums that i have not tried or attempt. Like to try dry point and etching for printmaking, someday.

I can draw all sorts of monsters, dragons and the likes. It's very easy to me. I used to do those all the time as a kid so I suppose I still have that skill. I could probably make some sort of monster book if I'd give it a serious try, but I doubt I'd feel very satisfied in the end.

The thing is while it's fun and easy it's really not what I want to do nowadays. If I could trade that skill for some others I'd probably do it.
