I'm looking for a word document posted here a year or so ago about "learning to draw in a year" or something to that effect, posted by a tripfag I can't remember for the life of me. It started off with telling you to download the "Perspective 1-10" tutorial series, and listed other good resources as it went down. Does anyone still have it? If so, please upload it!

You mean this?

YEAH, that's the one. Thanks man, really appreciate it.
>>
>>2306207
Huh, this one's more fleshed out. Neat.
>>
>>2306213
Is there an another version? That's the only one I've seen
>>
>>2306215
I guess I had an older version. It had a less-comprehensive Term 4 and nothing between that and the portfolio development section at the end.

How good is that guide?
Honestly
>>
>>2306663
It's really good if you actually study. The industrial design shit may get pretty deep, so that may optionally be skipped/done later on
>>

But as a serious hobbiest?
Obvs i want to learn as much as i want in order to git gud - but i'd rather not learn things that isnt necessary

Wtf man just git gud faggit
>>

I'm following the sticky and reading the books, but i wanna know that i'm not wasting time
>>
>>2306734
You're not. At a beginner level, your main goal is basically just that; to draw.

As long as you're following your studies and drawing, you'll be fine. This guide is good, back lacking in certain subjects. Luckily, it's easy to obtain basically almost any info here on /ic/ or cgpeers, so that should work out.

And by missing, I kind of disagree with what's the come AFTER perspective. Dynamic sketching is important before tackling anything major so you can understand how to simplify objects with little knowledge on the object you're trying to draw.

Don't bother with that shit. Just watch Vandruff's series on perspective, it's much shorter and is pretty much all you need to know as a beginner-high intermediate artist.

Dropping out of school.

You are making a bad mistake. Stay in highschool kid.

Also, it going to take you more than a year to get good. Your best bet is to make a sketchbook on concept art and try to become the next Algenpfleger http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php/114449-Algenpfleger-learns-to-draw-(He-really-does!)-2014-New-Sketchbook!/
>>

Bro it's just a set of recommendations; don't take the guide as gospel and do your own research.

This post would be more helpful if Algenpfleger hasn't actually removed all his old images. Anyway, I'm very well aware that it takes more than a year to get gut. But while I'm not good yet, I'm not /ic/ beginner threads level anymore. A year probably won't let me make living out of it, but I should be able to at least support my parents. Picrelated is Sargent study I did in a couple of hours yesterday.

>>2306893
>>2306912
I'm going to treat the guide as what it is - a guideline, not a strict set of rules. but it does looks like an interesting approach, something I've been looking for.
>>
>>2306893

At worst you're a year's food and board in the hole. His parents would be paying the same rate on their rent/mortgage anyway, at that. Definitely beats spending money out the ass on art school just to get the results many art school students get.

I don't remember saying he should go to art college anons. Reading inference not your thing?
>>
>>2306206
Pretty off topic, but why do people think drawing a bunch of cubes in 2 point is good practice? You should be off that literally in the first day of perspective. It makes me mad that whoever drew that spent all that time making it looking fancy and then had the gall to fucking write "practice practice practice" on it like it's impressive or difficult. Fucks me right off senpai

another anon here, followed your advice and started with Vandruff

I definitely think it is, it's cheap as fuck which is why I think it isn't even on peers and extremely valuable information. I was actually thinking of uploading it one of these days.

alright, I have lurked /ic/ for a couple of weeks now and its time to git gud.

Basically I have 1 to 2 years to git gud right (but lets settle with 1) no excuses, thankfully I have a steady schedule with my job and can easily find around 6 daily hours to focus on literally nothing but drawing, maybe even more, so I want to know if I am on the right track.

I am following this guide >>2306207

except I added vandruff in the perspective term, I also plan on using drawabox.com, seems fairly simple and reliable to add into the mix, but I will mainly focus on that 1 year guide.

I also got vilppu and loomis PDFs. and lots of books offered in the sticky, Im already done with all the exercises of right side of the brain and get around vilppu/loomis on a daily schedule hopefully.

Pic related, these are my battle supplies, saw another thread that really recommended the pentel arts brush pen despite the horrid packaging.

just saying, am I on the right track? anything else I should add or remove?
>>
I want to draw good porn so
>Fundamentals
then
>Loomais
then
>Anatomy
then Digital and repeat until i'm "good"

Correct?
>>
>>2311427
Sounds great.
In the mean time, I'll be watching Erik Olson work. If anything, I don't mind re-learning perspective with Vandruff
>>
>>2311451

No need to spend $12 on a fancy "official" glove. Buy a medical cotton glove (whatever those are called in english) for a tenth of that price and cut off the middle finger, index finger and the thumb with a pair of scissors. The glove that is. Don't cut off your actual fingers.
>>
>>2311451
Hey, sorry to burst your bubble, but unless you've already been drawing for years, you're not going to "git gud" in 1 year.

If you have already been doodling and drawing, but perhaps ineffectively, then maybe you can give yourself that push, though.
>>
>>2311499

I guess its entirely my fault by just typing "getting gud" but its more about just wanting to get fundamentals right.

all I want is those 5 hours spent everyday to not be entirely wasted. but I guess I can only find that answer by myself as long as the months keep going.

I just set it to 1 year to apply myself with sheer pressure, but after that year passes I will still be practicing till I die, hopefully.
>>
>>2311451
>Buying a digital pad as a beginner

Stick with pencil and printing paper. That's all you'll need for now.
>>
>>2311427

I have it from some download site, one with a gazillion direct download links. It's good but he mainly teaches what any guide to perspective teaches. Erik olson's has more depth, but the whole course is like a million hours long.
>>
>>2311451

If you need a friend who is also trying to git gud since this September, add me on skype:

robertpaulblartson
>>
>>2311670
not the anon you replied to but mind if I add you

I'm also trying to git gud and a fellow git-gud buddy would be nice I guess
>>
Ok, i've been watching the color of light videos. am I being trolled? 5 classes in and the guy is reading his resume, talking about irrelevant shit and looking at movie stills saying "duude look at the warms and cools bro". Are there any other resources about learning to use color and lighting?
>>
>>2311451
If you're beginning, do it traditionally, using paper, once you get good enough on that, do the same practices and exercises on a tablet.
>>
>>2311717

sure, anyone can add me

ill be starting my studies of Richer's Artistic Anatomy once school is over next week, and possibly setting up a twitch if my new wifi adapter is up to the task

Earing >500 a week on comissions + funding would be my goal, but i know i'm nowhere near ready.

Rushing just to appease faggots online is just typical on a lack of good eduction

>hurr i don't know how to write the music i play, but i know how to make a wicked rift on my guitar
>>
>>2314351
While that's true I'm earning monthly paychecks already and nowhere pro yet. You must remember normal people aren't even artists/want to do art as a profession and just want to appease their facebook friends and thus you can get away with bad art. The only people that will hate you for what you're doing is 4chan.

Let go of that fear; there are people to exploit. Do it now before the pool dries up.
>>
>>2314436
Nah m8, i only recently got into drawing and really, i'm enjoying it for the act in of itself

Of course i want to rip off morons for their cash so i can be NEET and draw 24/7, but if i cripple myself getting there then it wouldn't be worth it

Sticking with P&P until i can draw "well" then it's off to digital and possiblily even a career if i've got any skill
