How can I put this...

Reference sites and search engines have become too artificial for me. Everything is extremely symbolic, stereotypical, posed.

I want to find natural-looking images of regular people.
Does /ic/ have any solution for that? The best I can think of is stalking some Facebook public accounts.
>>
>>2292966
Don't even bother, go outside and sketch people in their natural environment. Sports games, transit cafes anywhere really.

Fucking can't even use photo refs anymore, I can reproduce from them but making a piece contain life is a ton harder.
>>
>>2292966
G-go outside?
>>
> The best I can think of is stalking some Facebook public accounts.

Why do you think this would be any better? It's all people knowing they're being photographed or photographing themselves, there's nothing natural about it.

I do get sick of a lot of reference images looking stiff and posed, though. Or are just in really impractical, stupid poses to begin with. I get it when you're trying to learn anatomy these can be useful but they're shit as references for anything else. I notice this most when I'm trying to find fighting poses, all of them are complete garbage.
>>
>>2292966
Movie stills, videos of your family
>>
>>2292966

No they aren't, it's just that your google skills suck shit. If you are using chrome you can right click and do a reverse image search on the image you posted and you'll also get similar images which brings up a TON of private photos. Finding reference images is a skill like any other. Be more creative with your keywords.
>>
>>2292979

He shouldn't use reference photos because YOU suck shit at using them? Great logic there anon. Don't blame photos man up your game instead.
>>
Go outside and sketch people or take a camera with you.
>>

>...search engines have become too artificial for me.

>>

As if getting mugged was any help.

It's not like I can find people acting naturally on the streets, it needs to be family photos, home photos, a christmas party, a barbecue...

>>2293008
I don't mean I have leveled up or something, I mean search engines have become too literal. Type in "barbecue party" and all you get are models posing and smiling, while a few years ago a lot of blog and family pictures would show up.

Help with searching more regular photos is exactly the point of this thread, so if you think I'm being pretentious, drop the pretentiousness yourself and offer some help.

>>2292997
That goes somewhere, good to know. But this is still a workaround. Any straight way of doing it?

I just remembered two methods, if I can find how to access them I will post it here.
>>
>>2293018
>It's not like I can find people acting naturally on the streets, it needs to be family photos, home photos, a christmas party, a barbecue...
>people have to act the specific kind of natural i want
>what the fuck does natural mean, clearly i have no clue
>>
>>2293018

"Workaround"? Huh? It literally takes seconds to make a google image search.
>>
>>2293018

People aren't acting naturally in fucking family photos or any photos where they know they're being photographed you moron.

What you seem to be looking for is people posing for photos but not in an artistic way, or something.

>>2293037
Are you honestly going to tell me there is no difference in how people act between these two pictures?

Of course both are posed, but the second one is still a natural event - ugly people, actual family, their personality actually shows. Faces are common, instead of pretty, you can mine a lot of character inspiration from just that.

But hey, don't get so hooked by a single term I used on my secondary post, about "acting naturally". What I really want is REGULAR PEOPLE in their REGULAR ENVIRONMENTS.

Even a renaissance festival or a Chinese new year event could look regular, as long as it shows how things are, without much artistic filtering, yes.

Here is one source I could think of:
https://rand.pics/

The best one though was a method for searching for unprotected pictures in Google Plus, but I can't seem to find how it was done anymore.
I remember we entered a date and it would start from there.
>>
>>2293055
You're comparing a shitty stock photo of a posed "family" of models who have never met each other with an actual family photo. No shit they're gonna look different.
>>
>>2293055
Photobucket might be another good place for amateur photos

I typed in barbecue party there and there's a lot more family photos instead of model type photos like in google.

OP here.

I just realized it wasn't exactly Google Plus, but the Picasa service for Android.

I still can't find it, but it's possible to search for common pictures name both in Google Images and 4shared to find stuff.
Examples:

This is the origin story of a voyeuristic stalker who seeks to capture reality in the quiet moments in life when people don't know they're being watched. Of course he'll be a photographer or an artist by trade, but that is only coincidental, a means to an end he doesn't yet understand.

Man, I get that. I understand some of these poses are purely for anatomical reference, but sometimes I just want a reference of someone sitting or walking and that can be a lot harder to find sometimes.

>The fuck are you talking about? Are the people in your neighborhood all working at the Ministry of Silly Walks?
No, but they will be walking, not doing menial stuff. Unless I go to some festival, exhibition or something. I don't even know how to go to these places, I've always been a shut in.

Apart from some photobucket and flicker mining, I was able to find lots of ordinary people by watching documentaries.

I was specifically looking for male asians (female were easy to find at PB and Flicker), so Comiket documentary for young men and a Factory documentary for older men.

>>2293299
Actually I'm doing some background character designs, and if I don't want everyone to look like a pretty protagonist - thus making the universe kinda flat, I need some fuel from the ordinary.

But on the voyeur part, you've got one point - it's pretty nostalgic to look at all these happy people living life, it gives me a mix of warmth for the happiness and concern for my future.

Shit like pic related drives me crazy.

90% of these models do poses like these and they might as well not bother. You'd never see any actual sword(wo)man stand like that.

Even stocks with good production values do this shit.

I used to use a website that had a large archive of pictures from some kind of a country fair. The people in the pictures were super rednecks, but that's also what made them interesting.

It was a pretty stellar archive but I can't remember the name of it anymore. I remember the url having something to do with astronomy/planets or something, like "mars" or whatever

You want great poses? just draw from porn. Porn is free, abundant and best of all you can search for close ups, point of view angle. There are clothes fetishes for your folding needs. If you want male, then use gay porn.
I just use a flash downloader so that I can stop, skip ,etc... in vlc. And use deskpins to have vlc on top of photohsop.

Just study movie stills, actors are trained to not look at the camera. If you're gonna say unnatural poses, then don't look at films with superheroes and the like.

If you're just looking for natural poses and don't need perfectly clear and proper reference, use google maps.
