A concrete wall is beautiful by itself, because it's a part of the surrounding architecture and is sitting in its own place.
It's good design.
Similarly to how you can have a well designed table, just doing what it's built for, visually understated.
You don't usually inspect such things on their own, but as part of a scene.
Having shit drawn all over it ruins that balance, as the ordinary object now starts screaming for attention and breaking out of the scene. This incomprehension of compositional balance is why, for example, websites in the 90s looked like shit.
And that's exactly why graffiti "artists" aren't artists at all, but attention whores with spray paint cans. Fundamental ignorance of composition.

Most graffiti I see around where I live is on abandoned buildings. I think the graff is better than the burned out shells.
Relax; it's just a creative outlet. I've seen people who started out doing graffiti become very, very successful commercial artists, some of whom were art directors for major publications.
Graff can be positive in some lights.

I write for many years back in the days and if you dont do that you cant understand it.
