>>2252866
why are you using short fat rough jabby brush strokes to represent the human body when the human body is long, flowing and smooth.
longer strokes.
make use of crtl+z, you are drawing digitaly, dont for get that, instead of sketching one line with many small lines, use the computers power to attempt a single long line but many times.
proportions are not bad, you have an eye for that, but pay more attention to the negative space, the shapes created by everything that is not the body.
>>2253632
what materials are you using? i really like that aesthetic
>>2251948
God, I really, really suck.
Damn, I find it really hard to study things with weak/even lighting. I feel like I have to make it up myself, and then I end up making up more than I need to.
Also looks like a mexican, my face referencing is horrible holy shit. Think I need some condensed session where I draw hundreds of random faces.

Looks normal to me. Keep in mind that the lens used seems to be a long one, which reduces the apparent size change between foreground and background objects. The calf looks larger compared to the knee, and the foot looks larger compared to the calf than you'd expect to see with the naked eye.

>>2260246
Fuck, forgot image.
>>2260246
>>2260247
doesnt seem that horrible, you just made some small mistakes that start to add up.
you started her neck at where the choker begins, and ended it behind her ear, hence why it looks a bit fatter.
you also made the side of her face pop out more from the edge of her nose/lips (probably because youre afraid of doing two bordering lines too close), which makes her nose appear smaller and flatter than the original.
but all in all, i wouldnt call it terrible
>>2260247
Linework only needs to be pretty perfect to capture likeness. If you started adding shading to this and correcting it a bit along the way. Likeness would start to emerge.
>>2256185
Anyone else find id useful to do a quick redline on your own sketch before you go in to refine?
I've already done most of the refinement that I'm planning on though. Just listing anything that your eyes can spot that mine didn't would help a ton. (though I can see a few things as I upload this now. eg:shoulder level and posture.)
The girl is really fuckking pretty. Thanks for showing me Feyne.

>>2256185
studying some statues in my local park, any help with the values?
>>2260951
Maybe switch off the linework if you want to really test your values. The eyes and lips are flat, they need more planes and you used very few values to draw them. The image reads but I think the shadows would be a little darker in real life (or the light lighter). It's good that you actually went out to draw real stuff. I don't know if I should advise you to study some asaro heads from pictures because that would be a step down from real life observation but it would help you with breaking down the planes of the face.
>>2260790
mirror as you work, compare the slopes of the figure you've got
you probably jumped ahead to detail way too fast.
also datnose.jpeg
Try and picture what you're drawing as a 3d object, and what it would actually look like from that angle, instead of trying to plop features down

do those exercises where you blend a circle/basic objects to have an accurate value range.
treat your subject like 3d forms
>>2260246
start with a background that is a similar value to the original image, and use a color that is found on the image to sketch out what you want. should probably be looking into a ton of construction stuff as well
>>2259957
not going to learn edges by plopping those lines in, if you're going to keep lines in try and make it look nice/important
>>2256639
why are you scribbling in a painting program, use a bigger brush/lasso tool
>>2260100
Thousands of hours of repetition with self critique. Take a life drawing course.
>>2260946
mirror your image as you work and do more construction. the eye that is further in the distance is LARGER than the eye that is closer to the camera. also note the length of the midface is too long which makes the mouth too low etc.
I did a redline but i dont even know if its useful cause i just drew the face ontop of yours
>>2256185
I feel like I'm symbol drawing, I'm trying to see the form but I end up drawing the shape instead
>>2261496
try and draw a skull underneat what you are drawing and compare it to an actual skull, the eyes are way too far apart, the lips are lumpy etc.
detail matters less than good placement
>>2261696
You need to go to the basics, seriously. Symbols, no construction, and no sense of proportions. Back to Loomis and maybe Drawing With the Right Side...

>>2251948
Been a long while since I did something like this. It was fun. Gave myself a half hour.
Looking at it now, I see that the hips and torso are off as well as the musculature, and something about the head doesn't seem right to me. Obviously it's very scratchy, this was intimidating to do, but I had a good time.
>>2276732
i think this is the closest so far
>>2256185
Here we go. I see something in the mouth, jaw, and neck, the overall pose and direction the head is in. I haven't studied expressions or anatomy terribly much so this gives me something to aim for. Attention to the muscles in the face (eeek) and neck would be good too.

>>2277237
I think the biggest problem in the face is that the eyebrows dont really match up, like in the picture. And also the eye farthest away from the camera is a bit small and compressed. Really good attempt though, but still need some more darker contrast to make things pop a bit more. dat nose tho

>>2277250
>I'm going to take that as a compliment
I'm guessing you think I mean it looks too accurate for you to have done it on your own, but you're wrong. It looks like you did no constructing, merely threw down some weak contour lines, and some even weaker rendering beneath it. If you take pride in your work looking like that, good for you, stay where you are then.

you've got bigger worries than the leg
>>2278064
You're drawing too much what you think you should be seeing and not what you're actually seeing.
Try flipping the picture and your canvas on it's side and draw like that.
>>2276732
really good, consider doing the rest?
>>2277237
- rework the hair, it looks too tidy and uniform.
- the eyebrows are too smooth
- lips need more light and shadow definitions, as those are very prominent in the original picture.
- fix the ear, the piece of hair going across it at the bottom doesn't match the original picture, making it almost seem like the entire top of the ear is falling off of the bottom half
- forehead shading is too flat
- shading under chin and at the top of the neck needs more light and dark, its too flat (mostly just needs more definition between ambient and diffuse)
- use a harder edge around the left boob (currently just looks like it blends in to the middle of her upper body, when the original pic has a well-defined edge), and also on the rib cage center line
wonderful work by the way

Good, maybe you'll stop using it you meme spouting autist.
>>2277237
I disagree with the other anons. First and foremost it shouldn't be about details, it should be about fundamentals.
I think the main flaw in your image is the head shape and structure. The girl in the photo has more pronounced cheek bones, and a broader chin than what you gave her.
It feels like you are leaning towards giving your heads a more feminine, softer and rounder head shape than what they actually have.
>>2279332
The chest seems to be too dark. And the edges are too hard
>>2256185
I think I'm still symbol drawing, especially in the eyes. Then again, faces are always roughest for me because I come from a godawful animu-copying background, so this is an uphill as fuck battle.
>>2279829
i think you got the shape of the face down pretty well. the features are the problem though. try to really focus on copying what you're seeing. if it worked in anime drawings, it can also work when drawing naturalistic stuff.
>>2279873
Thanks for the feedback, anon, I appreciate it. Anything in particular that stands out to you in any of the features, or is it more just their general shapes?
