Have a non shit imagination.

Use a smaller brush.

Be active when you interact with the world. Pay attention to details in books and movies. Look around you. Be interested in light, shape, and colour. Explore visual ideas. Look at good paintings.

Make a collage of things that inspire you.

Express yourself. All you're doing with your painting is "being an artist". It's worthless. A heart and a skull? Simplified cartoon men? What the fuck were you thinking? Is this supposed to be good? Turn your fucking brain on.

Dont use acrylics or whatever that is.
start by buying 5 or so sketchbooks and just fill them all with graphite drawings. It allows you to work fast but graphite has also a large enough range to do shadings/backgrounds/all sorts of textures.
