A picture from their new Age Of Sigmar
Its tragic really, I loved GW's Warhammer Fantasy art; it respected real medieval and renaissance history and art while providing something surprisingly unique and something that I could take seriously compared to say, Warcraft with giant cartoony swords and basketball sized breasts
Just compare this
This could almost be a classical painting

40k art is always good
What do you guys think of Jackson Pollock's work? What do you see?
I don't see much honestly, I don't even remember the process of those paintings except that it's splats of paints.
It's not even enjoyable for the eyes. I don't like the colors, the composition.

I dig it. Wasn't too big of a fan until I saw one in person. It spanned and entire wall and thick lines of textured paint raced and battled across the canvas. There were even a few handprints here and there. So long as you don't bring your preconceptions about what painting should or shouldn't be, you stand a chance of liking it, but he isn't for everyone.

Process is pretty simple, he drips and splatters liquid house paint onto the canvas using brushes, sticks, etc. Inspired by Native American sand painting.
Who are today's "illustration giants"? It seems in the past there were people who were huge figures even in their day, and everyone knew their massive impact and that they would be remembered in art history. I'm talking about guys like Leyendecker, Rockwell, Wyeth, and Cornwell. Even after the Golden Age you still had heavy hitters who changes the field like Frazetta, Jeff Jones and Syd Mead.
So what working artists today will be remembered the same way? Who has had the same impact in the field and will have their names written in the history books?...

Jaime Jones made everyone want their digital paintings to look more natural. Most people still can't really figure that shit out.
Maciej Kukoobookulalala made everyone give up and just photobash.

What are some practices for drawing human figures? Or just anything really that'll help later when I need it.
I think your question is too specific to get an answer, anon. Could you try to rephrase in broader terms?
What are some exercises for drawing body's and/or objects.
>Inb4 just look to the object to your right and draw it until you're satisfied.
>>2563075
Learning form and shape is the first step to constructing the human body, learn basic perspective then practice drawing cylinders and boxes. Next you'll want to learn proportions, how long and wide the bones are in body, the "how many heads from feet to skull" rule works too. Then basic anatomy, I personally like Micheal Hamptons books and videos the best, you can also try Glen vilpus vidoes.
I am a new aspiring mangaka, I wrote this in 2 hours last night. What do you think?
Marek the Vampire Slayer

>TL;DR recommend great art supplies with a budget of $300, preferably traditional
My 19th birthday is coming up in about a week and I was planning on buying a new console, but thankfully I've had a change of heart. On my birthdays I usually get nothing but money, so I'll have about 300 dollars to spend on art supplies (including the money I already had to spare). I've never put much thought into what I use to draw, but as a result I never took it that seriously and didn't use that much color.

Materials don't make an artist. You're better off buying a stack a printer paper and some anatomy books and then spend some time copying every image out.
>>2562710
Yes I know, but sometimes it'd be nice to have better resources to meet my full capabilities.

Can you visualize (in your "mind's eye") something simple as square, circle, triangle etc.?
Can you see it clearly? Can you see it in color? Can you hold it in your mind's eye for a long time or it quickly dissapears? Can you modify that shape as you wish?
>>2561292
I can visualize more than just simple shapes. I can make forms appear in my mind, and twist them and bend them and modify them and move them about in space in relation to each other. Usually I can only hold a few simple forms in my head at a time, maybe 2 or 3, though I can visualize a foggy version of entire compositions.
I presume most people can visualize about the level I can, though I might have slightly above average spacial manipulation in my visualizations because I've been doing art longer than...

>because I've been doing art longer than most on the board here
How do you know that?
>>2561311
Most people here have been doing art for a few months to a few years. This can be seen by both the level of work people are posting and from past threads where there were polls taken to get basic statistics on the board. I'm probably around 7ish years, so while I'm sure there are people here who have been at it longer than me, I think it is safe to say I have been doing it for longer than the majority of people here.
Any good art schools in Sweden?

Atelier Stockholm has a good reputation as far as a more classical drawing/painting school goes.

Who is your favourite artist? Mine is this one right here.
>>2562213
I don't have a single favourite artist. There are many people I like for different reasons.
Klimt, probably.
Right now probably Sachin Teng because an "accesible" style that I can kind of aspire to get to with enough work for the near future.
Overall idk,there are too many.
i want to eventually start a web-comic but i don't really know what tools i should or shouldn't use. any suggestions /ic ?

What happened with the book? Didn't AJ released the PDFs and allowed refunds? Or it's some other book? Why do I care at all? He's a hack anyway.

How do you approach coloring on such scenes? I've been trying to modify the values of different parts to increase readability but nothing seems very good. Any help?
>>2555949
Like this anon. You have a completely obvious and easy to use light source there, the window. You need to identify where the light is coming from, and block in large shadows. Then find where the light will hit the objects in the room. Last of all add in reflective light and subsurface scattering. I've shown it all roughly here.
>>2555949
Dont be scared to push the values a bit and use adjustment layers and filters to increase contrast.
Photoshop is amazing for editing color and value without having to work everything, so take full use of it.
