Still better than 90% of /ic/ and you.

What's even the point of comparing anyone to us? That won't stop them from being shit.
>>2250826
Anon doesn't seem to like it when his favorite shitty porn artist gets criticized.
I would like to get good at drawing and eventually(in like 6 years) make a living out of it.
I'm aiming for digital drawing.
Will following the sticky minimize the bad habits I will learn?
Should I even bother with learning how to draw with a pencil or just get a tablet and learn to draw with it directly?
Thank you very much in advance!
>>2250072
>Will following the sticky minimize the bad habits I will learn?
No. Getting a good teacher will.
>>2250073
Can't afford it, not to mention I don't have any good teachers in the area.
I felt like drawing on a tablet after years on paper felt like playing an electric guitar after some practice on an acoustic one.
You are not required to, but that will help.

CGHub's been dead a year and a half. What's different about this site from Artstation or Drawcrowd? Why should we care?
>>2249753
if they have a sketchbook section will open an account n post, seems like the front page is also stuck on orgasm mode only the tip top are show every one else aint matter, f that,..,.,.

>seems like the front page is also stuck on orgasm mode only the tip top are show every one else aint matter, f that,..,.,.
Dude what? That's what made cghub so fucking great in the first place. That their front page was always displaying work of much higher quality than you'd see on the frontpage of Deviantart, Artstation or CA.org. That's what I always loved about cghub, to just f5 the front page and find amazing new artists who I've never heard of before without...

Are any of you digital artists excited about the Surface Book or Surface Pro 4?
N-Trig now has 1024 pressure and 1 year battery life
I have a surface and I've never found it all that useful for art. In situations where I want to draw in places that aren't my PC I almost never want to do elaborate digital paintings so it's easier to just carry around pencils and a pad.
It's a lovely device but I've never found an artistic use for portable tablets.
>>2242658
the /g/ threads are moving too rapidly and don't really accommodate art related discussion. We've had Cintiq and iPad Pencil threads, so why not have a comfy Surface thread
I recommend Kakukaku Shikajika to everyone struggling with finding motivation for drawing. It's a short nonfiction manga about how Akiko Hayashi (pic related) became a successful mangaka.
>tfw you will never meet a mentor like Kenzou
>>2183350
it's funny because despite everything she said and did, her paintings still sucked.
it was a decent manga though

Is that the schizo cat?
Studying Louis Wain isn't probably a good idea if you want to learn to draw cats properly. His drawings tend to be somewhat off.

This thread is meant for artists who might want to try to make stylized work in-between their studies. It is strongly recommended that you use this thread in conjunction with learning the elements and fundamentals of art. You can also discuss the visual elements of various professional artists as well if you keep it relatively articulate and civil.

What is it about the 80's anime aesthetic that makes it so appealing?
Fuck off, /m/
>>2225714
It was designed for young adults that were more mature during the time that it aired. Now a days it's more about appealing to teenager's and a generation of people that never want to grow up.that's why all the grit was taken out of it, for maximum escapism.
idk but I love it tbh fam
Hey guys, can I have some tips?
My Intous 5 stopped working a while ago, and I was thinking about replacing it with a Cintiq, Now, is the 22HD version worth it compared to the 13HD version? It's obviously better regarding everything but I'm afraid it will be painful to move around and it costs twice as much as the 13" one.
Then there's the chinese alternative, the
Huion GT-185HD, almost as big as the 22HD and seems too good to pass up, but well, it's chinese.
I'm not making any money drawing, and I don't want to in the first place,...

I have the Cintiq 13HD; works great.
Cant say anything about 22Hd
Would just stay with Wacom rather than going to some other maybe not so reliable ones.
You say your doing it as a hobby, so id say get the 13hd, cuz it'll surely be quality stuff and its not so exspensive as the 22hd. Sure if you have money and willingness go for the 22hd.
>>2245059
I had 13hd, it was terrible. drivers not detecting pen pressure and awkward hand position, coupled with having to wear sweaty glove.
>>2245062
Hand position and gloves are your own fault and choice.
As for drivers mine work perfectly.

Design a character for a survival horror game.
>BRIEF
Platform: We'll be releasing the game on PC, PS4 and XBOX one.
Visual style: Photorealistic with about 20% styling/exaggeration. Think Indiana Jones, larger than life. Cinematography is on the style of Sleepy Hollow (1998 film) http://evanerichards.com/2009/1355
Gameplay style: 3rd person action/adventure with exploration and shooting. Ref gears of war, resident evil...

>ILLUSTRATOR MODE:
Design the game cover. Cover should preferably include the protagonist in some sort of action moment/pose. Try to make it eye popping but keep in mind the aesthetics described in the concept brief. Keyword for the mood is tension. Design and composition is up to you, just make sure to leave space for the logo/title and layout items (studio name, ESBR rating, etc)
>JUNIOR CONCEPT ARTIST MODE
Design the character in a finalized pose, bearing in mind the specs given in the brief. If possible...

Alright /ic/, lets see what you've got.
Here's the deal. I want to get better at drawing. Up until recently I've had no interest in drastically improving my art because I don't really draw all that much. I take really long breaks and I'm generally lazy. I want to get better at drawing because lately I've been feeling more creative and would like to express myself better through my drawings, something that is just not possible at my current level.
Now, some of you may know me, most of you probably don't so here's the thing: I...

hmm are you the same anon who keeps trying to "recruit" me for /pol/?
^^ ;;
Sorry, I just don't have time to learn the ways of a new board, 4chan can be too much of a distraction and my time is limited : (
update
god you are so fucking lazy
the most effort you've put into anything lately is this thread and the amount of shit you wrote
get off of /ic/
go draw
dont come back until youre serious about this shit, because youre not and its painfully transparent
I want to get serious with pencil work
what is the best brand of pencil I should look for?
Are clutch pencils good? what about mechanical pencils?
>>2139781
A good ol' Ticonderoga has always been my go to. I find the graphite in mechanical pencils breaks to easily when doing dark shadowing or what have you.
Mitsubishi Hi-uni are top tier. If you don't have the cash or suck just get staedlers tho.
>>2139781
Tombow Mono pencils are pretty highly regarded by a lot of pros.
I prefer a 2mm lead holder because it's easier to get a fine point and more comfortable to hold. Good 2mm leads are about $1 each most places, although jetpens has Uni Mitsubishi leads at half that price that I've yet to try but are supposed to be about the same as their wooden pencils (which are great).
Pic related is what's on my desk. I've got a lot more than that, and honestly I use the Pentel P209 with 2B lead and the Staedtler Mars Technico with HB lead more than everything else.
Hey guy I've been trying to find this artist he started a paypal beg draw thread on /b/ a few weeks ago if any one know who it plz help
>>2246904
Why would you want a commission from that guy?
Not only is he ass at drawing, but he's just annoying to begin with.
I know his name, but no way I'm letting you waste your money on him
>>2246976
But that post says nothing about comissioning him. What if he just wants to look at more of his art?

what are some good comics and manga i could use as reference? i only care about the art, not the story (for use as reference).
i don't know much, but berserk and sandman are really good.
>>2063883
also, related is from innocent by sakamoto shinichi, some anon posted about it earlier. it looks very good but sadly it isn't translated.
>>2063883
Not the manga, but the animation of Jojo's bizarre adventure had some interesting art in it.
Hive the manga has some cool backgrounds
Vanesa R. Del Rey
Frank frazetta which isn't exactly a comic artist but he is so good I can't leave him out
Brian Bolland
