Which one?
Why the fuck does /ic/ never talk about cast drawing?
I only just by chance found this out and apparently it's an amazing technique for improving.
>>2270705
Isn't it just a glorified form of drawing from life, which gets recommended here a lot.
>>2270709
It's a modern practice for people who want to paint like old masters by taking shortcuts.
did this one recently, I'm proud
Does anyone on here still use deviantart? What are your positive and negative experiences with it? Is it worth it to make one?
Doesn't hurt but I wouldn't invest much time in it. Your stuff will probably get a dozen views at most unless you work to get it out there by posting it to groups, and the process of posting to groups has a bunch of irritating hoops where you need to apply to join it and then apply to have your art accepted. I'd say if you get it, just dump your art there and don't worry about it, and make tumblr your main place to post your shit.
Deviantart is so saturated with shit that your new posts will be buried almost immediately with a dozen ponies and other...

No, it is not worth making one you will delve into a level of delusion to the point you will hinder any form of improvement or pursuit of knowledge.
>>2270632
deviantart is synonymous with mental retardation

i wonder if this one will stay since you pretty much are calling us degenerates..so what if i'm incredibly horny for my Malaysian cartoons?
to the faggots in the prev thread i sincerely and politely ask you all to stop trolling great artists such as BBC, Smurf, Firez and Kyle otherwise they will not post their art here.
>>2270084
Do not use that word here, it triggers visitors from /pol/.
Any colorblind artists here?
How do you choose your colors?
What techniques do you use to blend?
Any advice to color properly?
>>2270067
daniel warren is color blind he has good advice for people like you and i heard rumors about him having special color wheels and brushes but i'm just an anonymous faggot so good luck..i'm sorry you cant see colors.
>>2270067
Im colorblind, tend not to use colors but that may just be why I wont get very far..
>>2270071
Thanks, I'll look into his stuff.
And for the record, colorblindness isn't always shades of grey; I for one am protanopic, so my vision looks like this. It ranges from mild to severe, but even at my level, picking out tones, especially for skin is nearly impossible. But colors still are beautiful, and I wish I could use them. Hopefully Warren helps me out
Anyone else here interested in taxidermy? Post pics of your work, references, guides, etc. Also, where do you guys find your specimens? I live in Arizona so it's pretty barren. I'm limited to mostly rodents and rabbits because I can buy them as feed for reptiles.
Pic related is a rabbit of mine.
Bump for intrest

jesus Christ..i bet you stuck bad dragon pussies on these dead bodies.
I have pet rats, when they die I want to put wires through their bones to have a little skelly rat to keep me company.
Dunno if I'd be able to do it without breaking down and crying tho, they're my only friends ._.
What do d/ic/ks think abot Bob Ross?
The problem I have with his work and what he teaches is that it's all some sort of cheap "trick" to make something that looks decent, but you won't go very far with this alone.
Let me explain. If you pay attention to his work, he doesn't seem to have any understanding of perspective or volumes. All he does is place flat plains one in front of the other, rather than fully build a scene in volume and perspective. The mountains never connect to the middleground and so on. If you look at his pieces where there is no background, he doesn't even...

I think he sucks but he's cool for being a chill funny dude. A meme sort of. As a painter though he sucks major balls.
>>2269844
Art is not rocket science. Even Vilppu said that you don't need perfect knowledge of perspective and anatomy.
Show me your SAI brushes, swatches and stuff like that.
I just moved SAI so I'm courious, how did you arrived to your current settings?
Pic related are some settings I stole from some guy on tumblr that I used to follow.
My shitty brushes

I'm just realize that's pen not brushes but fuck it
The only two I ever use.
this is my latest. give me your worst, niggers.
nose looks kinda fucked
>>2269485
eyes are fooked
hairline too (was this copied from a picture or a live model?)
flat chin
hair rendered too much kinda ugly near the bottom
If this is from an image (which is suspect it is, fuck me if im wrong) then be careful of how the lens distorts the subject, if you look back and forth between the corners of her jawbone and then to her cheekbones you can tell that theres some head warping.
eyebrow on right comes closer to bridge of nose laterally than the left one
imo

5head, go to the beginner thread
So, what is the outlook for a weeb artist who dropped out of high school and has no formal training? Did I fuck up? Am I fucked?
Everything is about self motivation and practice. Life is what you make out of it, but those that understand this don't need to ask this. Should've studied more, not just art, just in general. An artist should be well learned in more than just art. Draw inspiration from life and studies and interests.
>>2269226
>dropped out of highschool
>no formal training
>am i fucked?
Yes, obviously, doesnt mean you cant make it, but youre fucked yes.
You're in a better position than many students at formal art schools, but that isn't saying much.
please don't be gentle

Does anyone know of any contemporary art forums? I'm looking to find more artists. College is generally good but I want to find more ppl, I still haven't found anyone that I could help me truly work out a vision for the future. Most people aren't very ambitious. Maybe I just need to move to New York to find people
this has a very loose connection for what this thread is for, but listen.
Does anybody put a little effort into making their own sketchbooks instead of buying one, using a pad or just using printer paper and a cheap clipboard?
It's out of the way, but a nice handmade sketchbook goes a long way (and definitely cheaper then buying a moleskin).
>>2268526
I just started recently. It's super comfy and its nice to be able to make a sketchbook with whatever paper you want.
I do, because it's a lot cheaper.
The ones I've made are shit quality though.
I might try this, what makes moleskine sketchbooks supposedly good? Every instagram artist buys it
Post em now.
Rules:
-Do not rate or give critiques unless if the artist specifically requests it.
-If someone is RUDE tell them to not expect much from an hour's work.
-Posting WIP's, studies, "doodles", and random sketches are highly encouraged.
-The art must be fresh. Like you just drew it in the past hour.

this looks like shit.
going by the rules I would say this is a /i/ thread
Show me your best

>that delusion
It's insane the straws that people are willing to grasp at in order to NOT improve.
What do you like listening to while you draw? Favorite music to study too? Art podcasts?
>>2261261
Funky stuff when I want to draw dynamic stuff, and I personally like the whole Air gear soundtracks by the skankfunk team, fucking masterpiece.
Chillstep/lounge stuff when I did my last study was pretty cool.
I even enjoy putting gaming streams sometimes, inspiration may bloom from a cool move/animation, but mostly put music that fits what i'm drawing.
I've been trying to avoid stuff with lyrics lately. Even though I don't feel like I'm distracted, the brain listens to and interprets words whether we notice or not.
Soundtracks generally feel like a good option. I'll usually look up a soundtrack for a movie/game thematically similar to what I'm working on. I was listening to the Fury soundtrack while drawing some WWII stuff and it got me pretty in the mood.
