I wanna see a drawing next to a painting now to see if there actually was that much a difference
>>>/mu/60787634
For example, let's try to define the difference between "tracing" "lip syncing" "covers" and "studies"
or just post artistic album covers
Roger Dean

I just made my first Charcoal drawing
Shit was easy as hell to use but it's messy as FUCK

>easy to use

that's like saying a jet fighter is "easy as hell to fly" after you've crashed it and killed a hundred civilians
Low Poly Art thread
this is cool
what about this
i like this one
How do I develop my own style from a variety of influences without blatantly copying?
>>2304596
If you take from multiple influences then you will automatically have your own style. It's only blatant copying when you take from only a single source.
style just happens on its own
>>2304789
not for me apparently, i keep getting halfway through a piece then getting annoyed at the fact it's an obvious rip off of whatever artist i'm really into at the time
Well hiya fellas, I'm new around here and was wondering if I could get a critique from y'all
This is my most recent painting, in acrylic, I practice stream of consciousness or automatic painting
Put more of your consciousness into it by putting your head up to it and blowing your brains out.
>>2304538
That would sell
Hello new friend!
Don't listen to this faggot>>2304538
Unfortunately /ic/ is a naked model and space marine critique board. It's against The Code Of Loomis to make any critiques based on modern art.
>pic related
But don't be discouraged! we have a sticky http://hubpages.com/art/how-to-draw-learn
When you can "feel" the drawings you know you've made Vilpu proud!
tfw I've been learning for 4 years, still haven't had a single illustration job. Why is it so hard, should I give up and get some boring normal job?
You've posted zero indication of your skill level so nobody can answer your fucking question with an informed opinion.
>>2304523
I don't want to reveal myself as a sadboy crying about existential thoughts, I almost always have a couple of pieces of work posted by some kind anon in the 'images saved from ic' type threads. So take it at that, assume that I'm not a beginner.
>>2304556
just post something that has no strings attached to you. Just sketch something new, never post it anywhere except here.
Just tell me how to paint and draw like Dave Rapoza. God dammit just tell me all the steps and i'll do it.
Alright.

do you really believe any of that garbage?
>>2304424
Do a shit ton of studies and creative work. Repeat for years. There's no magic shortcut.
I remember him before he was famous, he was known as Mr Delicious and hammered out page after page of Bridgman and Loomis and stuff in his CA sketchbook. The guy always has had insane work ethic.
feedback pls

It might vary slightly depending what college it is and what program, but usually this is NOT the type of thing that they look for in portfolios.
Most programs actually list out stuff they want to see--mostly it is life drawing and other observational work. Digital is (often though not always) a no-no. If you do some googling you can usually find examples of portfolios that got accepted into the program you are aiming for, and you can see what things they included and what score they got.
I also don't...

not fucked? include some observational work, as well as some figure drawing. show a willingness to work through mistakes and a penchant for learning. best way to do that is with traditional work.
>>2304267
If you aren't doing enough work to have more choices than this for your portfolio, then I wish you good luck, because school does nothing for the lazy.
Don't waste your money, anon. Either lock away all your other hobbies and start taking art seriously, or start thinking that art is a hobby, and go to school for a different major.
>Can finally draw my own porn and fap to it
It was all worth it, anons

Gongrats fellow anon.
>>2304167
share your blessings and let me fap to your works too :^)

welcome to the clubb
Can we have a body paint thread?
I decided to try out water coloring out of sheer boredom the other day. I haven't done it since must be like 8th grade.... I'm 22. I tried to paint a bear but man o man is water colors difficult for beginners like me. I'm a history major, but maybe one of you art majors can critique my bear and tell me where I can improve in. It would be much appreciated, because I had a lot of fun doing this, although I'm much better at drawing.
Thanks in advance guys! I can also post my doodles if you guys wanna see em!
>>2303889
It alright, but it doesn't look like watercolor.
Use more water and less paint.
There are many ways to paint things, but the simplest method would be to lay down a base color (**leave some areas blank as highlights), wait for that to dry, then get a different color for the shadows.
Just don't overdo it. Keep it simple.
>>2303889
Isn't that goauche? You cannot add white with watercolor like that, can you?
>>2303889
i really like it mostly for that use of grey/white. me as a fully cell shading person often forget such things.
Hey I havent been active on /ic/ in a few years. I was wondering where all of the traditional academic artists went? Sick of all the ass holes and poor critiques. Not to mention all of the crappy digital art anime pedifiles and erotic crap leaking in from /b/. So if someone could point me in the right direction i would be forever grateful.
>>2303882
I've been here for years and there's never been any academic artists really. Now and then you get someone copying the first plate of Bargue with the eyes or doing a cast study but that's it.
I just remember people mentioning new places to put decent art up. But i wasent good enough at the time so i hung back i guess. I cant post a female portrait without d/ic/ks having something vulgar to say. Maybe they all reached success and had no need for /ic/ anymore. Or maybe somebody knows a forum like this? Maybe its just wishful thinking.

if you like to jerk off to traditional paintings, you sick perv.
(if you like something, you want to rape it, according to your logic)
I'm looking for criticism on anything I could work on. I'm just gonna show a couple of sketches. Tell me if they're good also. I always think my art sucks lol. Also if the images turn sideways my apologies. My phone does that for some odd reason.
