How long does it take /ic/ to fill an entire sketchbook? I've only filled 4 sketchbooks this year.
>brb
>committing sudoku because poor discipline
ihve had the same sketchbook for about three years now. nearly done with it
>using overpriced tiny sketchbooks
>not using cheap and generally larger copy
paper
3 months for a sketchbook ain't bad. Don't beat yourself up for that. Pat your stupid ass on the back, and then challenge yourself to fill one up in 2 months. Finished? Keep up that pace until it feels easy, then challenge yourself to do one in a month.
Small steps lead to big changes because they're easier to maintain. Negativity breeds contempt, so be proud you filled 4 more sketchbooks then the average d/ick/head.
I want to get into digital painting, but there are some things I want to understand more regarding software;
I often see people saying they prefer to paint in Manga Studio, but use Photoshop for things like 'colour correction'. Does colour correction mean they're fixing mistakes they made? Or is it not possible to get the colours you need in Manga Studio? Is colour correction only possible if you have a monitor with 100% colour accuracy?
Ultimately, I'd like to create digital paintings similar to Jason Seiler, and Tsaoshin. Does their kind of...

photoshop has everything you need to do paintings. But it's primarily a photo-manipulation program. So basically if you need more contrast. want to shift your drawing to add more blues, less reds, change gamma and what have you... that's were it has a lot more options then other drawing programs.
>>2316796
Just a guess as I have only tried coral painter and photoshop but I think the key point is that photoshop is just unintuitive for most artist. They want to do everything with their brush and usually don't go much further than experimenting a bit with some layers. If you know how to use photoshop properly as a tool then it's great for digital art but most artist approach it on the level of trying to build a house with only a hammer.

that only applies to hobbyist.

i don't have one anon, atleast not yet
I have a question about practical application of 1 point perspective.
For example im drawing legs. One foot is slightly forward towards vanishing point. Hence i need to draw it with perspective convergence.
I can think of two methods.
Method 1. I project the front leg on lines connecting front leg and VP.
Th resulted rectangular i measure with pen and then through parallel lines 'move' to the side.
Method 2.
I start by creating big rectangular. I split it in two parts by intersecting diagonals. In second part i draw my front leg.
First...

and a method 2
Please guys I cant proceed with my studies unless I resolve this.
Oh cmon.
'Keeping your files and shit organised' thread.
How do you keep all your files neat and tidy /ic/?
I had a system a year ago, but it's gone to shit with file names like finalfinal123-final9.ai.
If you have a reference library filled with images and other artist's work you like, how do you keep it organised so you can find things by subject etc?
I was thinking of using OneNote for my documents and write-ups, but I don't know if its versatile enough.
Share your ways /ic/, help us out.
I have an art folder, with sub-folders "books" "drawings (my art)" "inspiration", "resources" (where I keep all my templates / palettes / etc), "scans" (where my scanned stuff automatically goes before I organize it into my drawings folder), and "tutorials"
I categorize my art in folders by month. I have a "wip" subfolder in each month for the various versions, and then the final version goes in the month folder. Eventually that goes into a year folder. I also have a folder where I put my favourite...

I create yearly folders and have a naming scheme using the international date format like
>15-12-18 random title.sai
Other than my own files I don't save much. Resource hoarding is a bad habit. I try to download one book at a time and work through it.
I get anxious when saving so I screenshot with sharex and put that on tumblr then I save the original on some folder like d:art then when that fills up I put it all in one folder called art old. Then I repeat when that fills up again (when Windows starts to struggle viewing everything ) .
It sucks but it's better than my old system of "desktop>desktop OLD> backup 2013 > unsorted >downloads > untitled folder (2) > desktop " that I have on an external somewhere.
It's good for hiding porn tho. And nostalgia spelunking
Do you buy paintings, /ic/? I bought this watercolor (pic related) a few days ago.
>being an artist
>having money to buy art
>MFW

Well, I have money to buy inexpensive art.
I'd like to, but goddamn it's expensive.

Hey /ic not sure if I should post this here but. Even though I've cleaned the shit out of my spray gun I still can't get the paint to spray consistently. What gives? Pic related
take it apart and soak everything in solvent overnight then dry and reassemble it you fucking moron
>>2317523
Thanks captain obvious!!! I'm looking for educated solutions you fuckin retard
>>2317525
how the fuck am I supposed to troubleshoot your fucking spray gun over the godamn internet with your vague as fuck description of the problem? my only reasonable course of action is to assume you are a completely retarded fuck up and give you the best, most diplomatic solution I can come up with because short of gunking up your piece of shit gun with lazy idiot maintenance routine your dumb ass probably somehow accidnetally shoved the needle up your ass and lost it
>when you stopped drawing months ago but still tell all your family and friends you are really into it
Damn is there a worse feel than quitting a hobby you you were extremely passionate about for 1 month and having to tell everyone you love you gave up on another thing?
>for 1 month
Just tell them you fucking stopped.
>>2314817
Just don't give up
Get back into it
>>2314817
extreme passion lasts longer than a month kiddo.
Study this, faggots.

Man that nipple looks gross to me. It's so open, wtf. Surprising though, it's in that spot I always hate seeing it drawn on anime girls and shit.
>>2292117
I didn't even notice that.
It is kinda weird actually.
>>2292117
Try being less of a virgin/rampant homosexual next time.
Be as harsh as you like. These are all from an art class I did at college, art isn't my major but I do think its a skill I'd like to refine. Also, while I think I have a solid grasp of how to draw with traditional media, digital eludes me completely. I own a tablet but I feel like everything I draw with it, despite hours of work ends up looking sub-par
Hey Guy I just threw together some outfits for this character I'm making. Which one do you think works. Please under stand these are not final.
>>2319049
That body shape is fucking horrendous.
have you even seen a woman before
Just threw it together, scanned and filled. Not trying to impress just trying to get an idea of the look of the outfit.
Who is doing art livestreams on picarto or twitch?
What do you do to attract new viewers?
Do you have some tips for successful streaming to share?
>>2319772
>Do you have some tips for successful streaming to share?
yeah, build a fanbase first so you have some actual viewers
>>2319772
One time I was watching a stream on picarto. it was a futa MLP character, I'm not a fan of pony shit but thats not what got me to watch it. What got me was they were playing the lion king in fucking the corner of the stream. It was the most bizarre thing. People weren't even talking about art, or MLP, they were talking about the movie and singing along to hakunamattata. I didn't think you could legally do shit like that in a stream either, especially one gather about 1k viewers late at night, so who...

Cant decide on what to put in mid & foreground. Trying to go for autumn theme with trees & hills. Any ideas?
>>2319720
if you wanted it to be an autumn theme you probably shouldn't have gone with a thick dark green outline forming what looks like a skinny persons ass. Your clouds dont make sense. Find a picture and take a look at the way clouds really work. nice blanket tho. looks pretty comfy
Nothing, you can tell that this is a lake full of milk.
Trees and hills
