Currently watching the masterfully made BBC doc the power of art, makes me want to post some great and classic works of the greats. Please feel free to post any of your favorite works of renaissance or post renaissance works of art!
Hey /ic/, I'm a senior in college right now currently living in Canada and seeking an art college not teaching shitty modern art, but technique, etc.
Does anyone know if there are any art schools in Canada worth it here?
If not, any ateliers?
Is it even worth it to spend the money to go to one?
If you've went to one, what were you experiences?
What type of art do you want to create? Unfortunately there's not much in Canada, but your goals/interests will help decide where you attend.
I did Sheridan for illustration but left because it wasn't teaching technique and stuff and was very conceptual and editorial. Their animation program is okay, it's not as good as the reputation is but is better than other options in Canada.
For ateliers, there's the Academy of Realist Art in Toronto, but to be honest it's one of those places...
Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
An important thing to note is that literally no one will ever ask to see your art degree, so unless you like being in debt for no reason, ateliers are a good option, or even community colleges can be pretty good quality.
And there's always self teaching obviously. You need to build up a lot of willpower and the ability to critique your own work, but you can get very good on your own with the amount of resources on the internet.
Share artwork you like to look at
Who else here likes to put their artwork folder on slideshow, play some music in the background and just chill and admire the paintings?
Im trying to find....Evil/Dark looking Sword/Axe and im having trouble finding something I like.
Im also going add add whenever I finally find going through another Dark/Evil looking shield. Help please!
I hope you're actually not a big enough dipshit to get some edgelord sword permanently inked onto you.
Also this board really could do with a tattoo containment thread, though I'm sure it wouldn't stop you assholes from making your own.
I hope you get it right on your chest and stomach like a real tough cunt.
..whos work (one picture) was posted in one of the threads around2 weeks ago.
The thread was about opaque painting (no pen presure for opacity).
The illustration was black girl siting. The author is very good illustrator and animator.
Can someone help me?
i made this story a bit ago, looking for criticism and an idea of what i should work on next assuming i do well with these kinds of stories its horror/suspense i tried to go for physiological horror
God-tier pixel artists?
>How tight do you hold your pencil?
I hold my tight, but lately since I am learning to draw I listen my grip and seem to do much better.
i try my best not to hold so tight, but when i focus too much and shit gets intense eventually i go check why my middle finger is hurting and turns out is even deformed with how tight i was holding the pen.
does anyone know how to stop this without changing gear? I only draw digitally, using SAI, a wacom bamboo connect and the pen is an Intuos pen small i think
>active area of 13.8 x 8.6’’
>We also know that some of professionals have to take their projects away from the office. Mobility feature is followed by a built-in 8GB of storage in Giano, which allows you to save projects and take your work anytime, anywhere.
>>> 119.99 (yea it's on sale)
>but the battery powered/rechargeable pen killed it for me.
Have you ever used one? It's not even fucking bad, I don't get why people are upset by it.
Plus, the pens tend to be a lot cheaper than Wacom. If your Wacom pen ever breaks, you'll be paying noticeably more to replace it.
The story is written, the script is in progress, I guess, only a few months in the making.
I think I have something special here, but I'm no Stephen King. Although, I probably would be if I could get famous enough.
I used to be a ghostwriter, and now I want to publish something for myself.
If I can communicate the story through a second medium, I think I'll have a chance at getting more attention and more feedback.
If anyone wants the pdf, let me know
Is the page DrawSpace a good place to learn how to draw? I am new at this drawing and looking for resources I have found with this product, I also like to know of other resources that serve me help.
Sorry for my English ;)
I've never heard of this site before, but just taking a quick look at it, I'd say no way. The internet is full of free resources for learning how to draw, this website seems like a scam. Take a look at this board's sticky, there's a guide on teaching yourself to draw and links to many free resources that we know are good.
I enjoy going to the art museum and throwing on tunes as I examine pieces. Does anyone here have specific albums they relate to pieces of art or artistic movements.
For me I like listening to Satie when viewing impressionist paintings, Janáček when viewing socialist realism and Arca when I'm looking at abstract expressionist exhibits.

/IC/ lets discuss
What is your opinion on art as a career ?
If you can get away with it, good for you. There are plenty of professional artists, their work is useful to the people paying them, and they make a living.
I think banking on it is an unwise decision though. It's not a basket you should put all your eggs in.
