Typical motivational normie bullshit.
I want to learn to draw, but I hate the human form.
Don't get me wrong, I get a lot of satisfaction out of anatomy exercises and seeing how my work compares to what it "should look like." But when it comes to things like the human body, I have absolutely no affection for it; if anything, I find it repulsive and unpleasant. I only have a few exceptions to this, such as head busts or hands.
Exercises and practice aside, do I have any hope of becoming a good artist when I simply don't like the human body? I've noticed a lot of good artists...

Also before anybody asks, I don't like animal anatomy either. It's just as gross to me.

Go draw still life or something then.
It looks like you have psychological issues and it doesn't have anything to do with art. Seek professional help and not advice from unemployed digimon collectors on taiwanese-australian card exchange forums.
Here are 4 artists that have similar elements. color pallete, brush strokes and/or facial structure used.
I got a question for you. Anyone knows proto-artist who started with this style?
>>2345633
no idea. mind sourcing the artists tho?
it's basically anime with more realistic proportions and rendering in the mix.
>>2345924
yeah it feels like pchat artists
I've been working with gouache for some time and want to take a stab at oils
If I want to just do practice and studies would just white and a black suffice?
I'm afraid budget is something that limits me.
Also, any favorite brands?
>>2345573
white and black is enough. if you have budget problems I have a few suggestions.
instead of buying a canvas every time you can paint of cardboard.
you need acrylic gesso. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gesso
either that or wood glue (+ white acrylic paint).
I prefer the second option. I apply a thin layer on cardboard. I don't use white arcylic because I will paint over it anyway and it is waste of paint. Wait for it to dry. Now you can paint with oils on cardboard without fear it will fall apart.
>>2345573
this is you? its gorgeous!
i'd start with like a tube of burnt sienna or umber and practice underpainting on a white gessoed panel, cardboard is a little questionable in my opinion but particle board or cheap wood panels are great. ive had teachers in the past recommend gesso-ing rives bfk paper but i really hated working on that, and you had to heavily gesso it to get a completely non-absorbing surface. also pva size the panels before gessoing.
brands, in my opinion & off the top of my head:

Hey guys, wanting to be a manga artist using type B4 paper ( pictured right ) and was wondering if I should start drawing smaller compared to left. Also, how are my eyes coming? Started Loomis today and have seen improvement.
Picture got turned upside down. B4 paper on left sorry guys.

you're still drawing eyes in a symbol way.
draw the eye as a sphere and draw the eyelids over it.
Can we have an art literature thread?
Books that deal with art, different movements, argue different concepts, encourage, discuss etc.
I'll start with the obvious must read book. It's a collection of letters to students and notes than anything else, but I think it's essential for any artist for he really digs at what the art spirit is, encourages you to see from your perspective, puts into words an artists mindset, talks about the mental approach to creating art. Cannot recommend The Art Spirit enough.
>>2343797
i really love that book!!
seems more appropriate for /ic/ tho imo unless they delete this topic
either way, try posting new thread in /lit/ as well to see if there are interested people. don't forget to include creativity (so that it's not only for artists but also for people in general) that ought to catch attention from other ppl.
also, try postin shit in artbook thread too
anyway mine:

I still can't wrap my head around these michael bay movies, transformer designs, what d'ya guys think? I'm still fascinated at these designs.
pic is an example
>>2343419
I've always been more of a Zoids fan myself. The bayformers are too organic looking, and there are so many small parts, I feel like they would be shedding metal like dog hair.
Never really liked Bayformers. Too sleek and busy-looking for my taste. I like blocky designs.

do you have any tattoos?
what tattoo do you want?
is having meaning behind a tattoo important to you?
would you get a tattoo of your own work?
How do you go about designing your own tattoo? Or getting someone to do it for you
I have no artistic ability but I still want to be able to put something unique on my body
>>2343536
You could always come up with an idea, and then have a tattoo artist or illustrator make it for you. No shame in that and it's unique.
Honestly just contact local tattoo artists with your idea or offer to pay an artist you know/can find

Let's see how my shit evolves. (draw isn't mine)

this may seem like utter crap advice but your stuff is pretty awesome but may be too detailed / over rendered for the audience you are aiming for. People nowadays like concepts more than extreme detail.
Hence why shadman still makes bank. He can pump out sexy scenario after scenario because he doesn't sweat the small stuff.
Just don't want you overworking.
Loved Dmitry's stuff before he became obsessed with details.

I'm gay
How much time do you spend per day on art? I've always been a casual, occasionally doing some studies of faces or whatever, but now I want to get serious and actually learn to draw. I am also currently doing a degree in Electronic Engineering, however, so I'm unsure how much time to spend per day on art
At least 6 hours a day everyday, usually between 8-10. However I am an unemployed loser with no social or love life. I only care about getting good and eventually killing myself after Ive reached that goal. Also will be running out of savings soon and will be forced to work again after like 3 months of massive art gains, someone please just kill me now.
im studying to get into uni for graphic design and i work 6-9 hours a day (6 hours monday-wednesday and sunday, 9 hours for the rest)
I tend to work in 3 hour breaks, work 3 hours, rest 3 hours. Also i make sure to up the difficulty after every break. At start i will start easy and just study anatomy and stuff then up the difficulty and do perspective or industrial drawings or smth and then do entrance exam questions at last.(the entrance exam works differently here and a very small part of it is actually showing your portfolio)
>>2339198
Ill clarify that I dont do informal "studies" and that doesnt include my time studying things anatomy, color theory, etc. all of my drawing time is devoted to fully developed passion pieces, its what makes me whole.
Me Oog, me draw mammoth. What you think?
Blog?

Blog is no painter!
Oog chiseled with rock, big hack. Oog not even study from old masters like Unk and Ur, Oog cheats.
So I'm looking for a tattoo drawing, and since I cant draw myself, thought of look for your help.
It should be like this image, but i was thinking of a cooler bear, maybe some braid. More viking-ish, and probably wouldn't draw the face, just helmet and beard. Would anyone have a drawing like that or willing to make one if had any ideas with my description?
Would tattoo it maybe with a sketch-style trace..don't know yet
