From last thread:
So before the thread dies, which will take about a year....
Anyone have someone under your radar for any reason? Any masterful anons that you admire? Any scrappy beginners who seem to have potential that you want to see grow? Or on the flip side, who are you gleefully watching to crash and burn either in the competition or in terms of their own artistic progress?
>>2349411 impressive
I got my eye on that anon 313
I spent 3.5 hours on pic and I fuck it up.
I will post it but I hate it.
Kill me.
Why do vertical lines as eyes seem more natural than horizontal lines, even though in reality eyes are more horizontal than vertical?
Probably because of cats and shit.
But also, the almond shape of eyes make it so the cornea touches the top and sometimes bottom lid and is interrupted either side by the sclera. So it's better represented by a vertical line touching the top and bottom of each lid, than a horizontal line suggesting it stretches to either end or that the eye is closed.
I guess because the iris and the pupil become a vertical ellipse when the head is not viewed from the front.

Wait, I think I mean iris instead of cornea.
So ive started this piece with some print outs from photoshop, going to be going over it with acylics so bear in mind i only just started this. On the right side of one layer i got worried about tearing the paper so didnt cut as close to the lines as i would have liked. Anyone got any advice on how to hide the paper edge?
>>2350651
Want to get a textured feel for the background with some molding paste, do you think this will be enough to hide the edge?
first time with paypal here and im opening commissions and stuff..which here?
>>2350388
Oh gee I don't know. I have a hard time reading too.
Any of you have any good references for the muscle anatomy of the body from different angles, specifically for the arms.
By the way, might as well ask while I'm at it. Which books on anatomy are most recommended which aren't in the sticky?
>>2350337
Get Bridgeman's book. It's the most intuitive, easiest to understand anatomy book out there.
>>2350336
Here is some things to get you started. If you like the references consider getting the book or pdf.
Strength Training Anatomy 2nd Edition
it has some of the best anatomy illustrations.
>be me
>get a pad tablet because I'm poor as fuck
>draw with it

How do people get so good without a screen? I know practice is a major factor, but is there other advice?
>Flash 5
What the fuck, nigga?
>>2345794
I actually have personal and legit reasons why I'm using this ancient technology that I won't get into.
>>2345788
>I know practice is a major factor
It's the only factor mate, sorry.
This guy I know has this posted on facebook (see attached pic) I don't mind the price, but what I really want to know is how the hell he does it? How does he get the paint to do that?
this is what happens when the colors are very liquid but don't completely mix
haven't you ever tried to mix colors before painting a wall? it's the same effect, he probably just pours a mix of liquid paint and lets it dry
>>2342457
Really? It's that simple? That's kind of cool. Thank you anon.
>>2342450
He just floats some thine out oil paint on water, then swirls it with a stick, then dipped the canvas in to it. I do this with Guitars, ll the time.
ITT Post the piece of art that you created in 2015 that you enjoy the most
>>2333655
ill bite, i really like how this came out, flaws and all.
>>2333660
I really really really really like this too, anon.
This isn't some anatomy, shading or painting master piece, but i love it, everything was made by my hands. My inspiration was those amazing Kingdom Hearts Stained Glass art.
Lets not beat around the bush, this man is obnoxious as hell
But his course worth it?
>>2348165
>Lets not beat around the bush, this man is obnoxious as hell
Fuck off.
No. Who wants to hear an instructor with nearly 30 years of experience ramble on about his process while he draws for 3 hours? So not worth it. Art instructors should be dead silent and not say anything. What makes a good art instructor is that he draws or paints better than other people, I don't want to hear him sit here and try and "explain" how or why that might be-as if that's relevant at all.
>>2348171
That's what bugged me about Lipking's portrait video. The dude just stays almost dead silent while painting his wife and sparsely chimes in with some very obvious commentary on what he's doing like "just blending the edges on the neck."
It's still cool to be able to see him paint, but goddamn banter a little, dude.
Hi /ic,
I love Facebook and I found this artist,
I am kind of new but I would like to know how do you draw and paint like that?
Is there some tutorial around?

Are you really that stupid.

I have a very myopic imagination.
Everything in my mind's eye is a fleeting ghost, a fragment or a piece of something at best but never a 'whole'. I feel incredibly stunted and cannot draw hardly anything from imagination except soulless, featureless figure mannequins and even those are riddled with errors and made haphazardly with no sense of weight and no real conception of what they're to be doing.
Do you have this problem or have you had it and surmounted it somehow? What can be done to rectify such a situation? I feel like having an imagination...

You need even more eyes on the inside
Read more fiction books, no pictures, let your imagination work out.

I have an Intuos 4 Medium
I am trying to fight some bad habits I have developed over years of drawing with tablets
Hunching over
and more importantly mainly drawing with wrist, rarely the elbow and never the shoulder
I always have my tablet flat on the table, no stand for it , idk if people even do that for theirs
But I want to use my elbow and shoulder more to draw, I feel I will get better lines that way , but the position and size of the tablet makes it very hard to do compared to using an easel
To draw with my elbow or shoulder I cant rest my hand on the table or tablet I have to keep it lifted the whole time and it gets tiring fast
Idk if anyone has any recommendations on how they do it or if anyone has managed to relearn bad habits I would appreciate some advice
Oftentimes I have my tablet propped on the edge of my desk, the bottom against my stomach, which can give you that tilt. Part of it is just forcing yourself to build the habit of using your elbow. I feel like with the space of a tablet using the shoulder isn't that convenient anyway.
>>2349759
Yeah, I'm always leaned back, relaxed with the tablet resting in my left arm like a sketchbook. Pretty much exactly the same posture I have when life drawing.
I can't even imagine trying to draw with the table flat on the desk desu. Just practice the posture for a few weeks
Ps: I use the same model, it's like I'm you in the future
criticize tf out of m ms paint work

Really nice drawing man. Could you maybe expand on what it represents?
The way you drew the eyebrow in an aggressive manner coupled with the dull expression on the mask really bring out the emotion of this piece imo. Showing how the character is suppressing her emotions, forgoing them in order to be the stoic person that the mask demands of her. The arrow through the head of the mask really shows how this facade won't last much longer and that this girl will be in for a ride awakening. And finally the way...

How do you go about drawing a character/figure that is 'gender' neutral? Im not a great drawer, but I this is proving tough for me.
any tips or examples out there?
thanks

When I go about doodling I mostly like to take the shapes from Mr. Game & Watch. I like the design, and it's easily transferable to 3D space.
