Wtf is that chart
I want to commission some artwork and I would like to browse through a bunch of portfolios to see whose styles I like. How is this generally done? I'd like to avoid trawling through terabytes of Sanic fan art and furry porn if possible.

How much are you willing to pay?
What do you want made?

Anywhere from a couple hundred to a couple thousand. I am looking for an illustrator for abridged books.
I am a season worker, so I'll be unemployed for the next two months. I am planning on using my time most effectively to hone my skills. I want to work out a plan. obviously everone works differently, but I guess this would be a good place to share some ideas and inspirations of how you guys, or some other famous artists work on a daily/weekly basis.
I am going to visit figure drawing classes and I want to study anatomy, perspective, animation, do gesture drawings, increase my visual library, ...

joseph zbukvic work is what got me into watercolor.

First tell me what's your end goal. And which artist you wanna draw like. (example would be: I want to draw fanart like sakimichan) Also post some examples of your art, so I can give you specific advice.
What do you guys think of the current trend of abstract acryllic/oil splattered on paper and then inverted and edited in photoshop. Artists like Michael Cina and Jack Vanzet, this stuff is everywhere from shitty EDM singles to instagram pages spewing 15 pics a day. It has been around for a while in Ghostly work and is kind of reaching its limit in what can be done.

Literally never heard of it. Sounds like you can just avoid gay af raves if you don't like it.
I think it's derivative from the TedX philosophy of "anyone can be a creator. Be unique. Express yourself". It's art without thought, which is how I would define kitsch.

Does it have anything to do with inflation fetishism?
I am very slow on my drawings because I'm afraid of fucking up and feeling like I wasted tons of time on a ruined drawing.
When I make a unredeemable mistake, I used to freak out and shred the paper or put it into a paperball and throw it away as my blood boiled. Now I'm more calm, and I only fold it in 2 so I never see it again.
This fear of messing up really slow me down, I draw for like 10 minutes and I stop. I need to think a lot to do something very basic like drawing a line with the ink over the sketch made with the pencil
>>2582332
even masters made mistakes. get over it.
>>2582332
what media do you use? it's very important because it affects the mind set you approach your work with
to train your confidence use a medium where you can't erase. Even if getting good in that medium is not your end goal, the knowledge you gain in it carry over. You could try charcoal since it's so black, or brush pens, or force yourself not to use ctrt+z if drawing digitally
if pencil is all you got, force yourself not to use eraser unless you want to make an highlight or something like...

it's always good to see the level you are at to know what kind of advice to give. We might even talk hours on a problem which you describe bad so we give bad advices for your situation, there is no one size fits all in art.
What do you guys think of my shitty Super Meatboy and Bit Trip Runner/Commander Video drawings. lol, gimme your honest opinion, but keep in mind that this was the first time I ever drew a character from something/somewhere, usually i just draw shit like iphones, or calculators. lol
Needs loomis

what is loomis, srry its my first time on this board.
I'm so fucking burnout of drawing /ic/, what do you do to gain energy back or what do you do while waiting for it to come back.
I was thinking of playing vidya or watching a movie but I fear that it may distract too much and forget about drawing for the rest of my day.
>>2582244
do some light reading. go outside/chill with friends. serious about the outside one. getting out in the sun helps a bunch. I can't stand being in all day. otherwise i get burnt out and implode a bit.
Get up, walk around for a little bit, and grab a snack. Something with plenty of glucose, but preferably slow burning rather than just sugary garbage foods.
The brain is a muscle and it requires a lot of energy - mentally straining activities are physically draining on your resources. Food and sleep are what replenish this - mindless activities don't 'recharge' you, they just deplete less. That's why I say you should always do your most important / cognitively straining activities at the start of your day and leave the brainless leisure for winding down....

buy a summer house. its great. totally silent and you can focus easily
What do you do to advertise your commissions?
Use every form of social media you got?
Join groups created for ad purposes?
Use only art websites to advertise?
Let random people find you and ask without actually advertising?
Also, what are your prices and about how much would you say you make a month doing commissions?
{That's not my commissions page btw}
-Thanks
Oh. And if you have a commission page like this. Please post it. I like looking at everyone's setups.
>>2582216
They could easily add $5 to sketch, $5. To live cost and then $10 to the colour ones.
Anyways I don't do commissions because I'm a shit
People charge way too little for commissions, no wonder artists don't make any money
Can someone please, PLEASE explain to me hot Rothko is good in any way. I trust there must be at least someone here who has studied art history and can tell me how the bloody hell Rothko became so famous and well-known in the first place. How is he a visionary? If the answer to that is "Well, because he did something completely different and gave the art world a completely new direction." then that answer doesn't satisfy me. In my opinion, something doesn't have to be good just because it is NEW and BOLD.
I'm not a Rothko hater, I'm not...

Just to prove how I'm not a general hater of modernism, I fucking love Bacon. So feel free to also post your favorite works of his.

Please, I'm a blockhead. Bring more details.
Last day of school today. Haven't done my end project which was pretty much all that was needed to succeed. Do you think they'll give me another month or so? I mean they are very flexible in this school. If you must know I was in a deep deep fucking hole and the last days I realised school was gonna end I was became incredible ill unable to do anything. Here's a failed pepe that turned out better than I intended somehow.

I'm an absolute mess right now. Why can't I be comphy in this life. Didn't show up since holidays in april.I just want to be comphy before the world is destroyed.
Why does time spent = talent/huge improvement? Why does /ic/ automatically assume that if someone doesn't improve a lot in [certain time period], it's shit, especially since not everyone just focuses on drawing every day? What is the best time period for drawing?
>>2582057
>why people think dedication is key to getting better
U nigga cereal?
Also, that's not the case. Dobson and shadman are walking living breathing examples of that.
>What is the best time period for drawing?
Night. I'm serious and it may sounds weird for being so especific, but you wouldn't know the amount of people that I have seen that mostly/only draw at night.
