Is inventing the figure just an exercise in memory? I ask this because I have no issue doing accurate figure studies, and I can reproduce that figure, gesture and all, without the source material with a good deal of accuracy. But whenever I try to invent figures on my own, the gestures never seem right nor does anything else. I have a good understanding of anatomy and the underlying structure, but I don't feel that it helps too much in a lot of cases.
Visual library + construction
Have you tried doing analytical figure drawing, i.e. Vilppu stuff?
>>2583810
Yeah. I've gone through tons of instructional videos and books. Vilppu, Robertson, Bridgman, etc.
It kinda stresses me out to think of not being able to draw the figure without any sort of reference. I really can't tell if it's just because I haven't drawn the figure from enough angles and poses, or if I'm just retarded.
>>2584228
Learn from my mistake, anon.
>draw just the simple construction frame
>Multiple angles. Sheets Of multiple angles.
>draw the frame with simple box/cylinder forms.
>Multiple angles. Sheets Of multiple angles.
Then add the muscles and drapery.
Any suggestions for art books that go beyond the typical Loomis, Vilppu, Robertston and Bridgeman? I'm looking for lesser-known art books that actually helped you improve.

What do you mean by "go beyond"?

Tried google found nothing
ITT: Draw a person or an object with your non dominant hand.
I thought we'd enjoy a little humor around here.
Here's my contribution.
Here I butchered a drawing of a croissant (not a boomerang) and coffee (not a toilet with sticks over it).
not very funny.

Hey all I am an aspiring writer that has started a website dedicated to my works, unfortunately I am not very good in the art department and was hoping I may instigate a help you help me deal.
I am wanting are for my horror fiction writing and in return I can offer a dedicated page for you to upload any art and links you may want to promo your art work. In addition to that you will hold all rights to your art as I can not pay, so if you want to stop you can retract your art no harm done.
TLDR:
- I am a writer want art for stories
- Can offer free promotion...

Oh shit, thats some good shit !
Just got a job in nyc at a museum. Im 18. How do i go from here and become famous and rich?
Loomis
>>2583472
what do you do there?
>>2583472
Befriend rich people that visit the museum.
So this is like my last ditch effort of trying to find a fucking speed painting video.
It's like 3 dudes, 2 twins standing on some floating rocks. It's got sort of an anime style but it's really well painted. One of them has like telekinetic powers. The 2 twins are like good and evil or something idk.
This is my best description of what it looks like. But I can't find the vid for the life of me or the artist. I just remember watching it once.
>>2583364
Needs more loomis, you don't have much idea of feeling form. Also you're symbol drawing two stick figures on the side.
>>2583373
Thanks for the critique. I speed drew that in about a minute but I could use some improvement.
Anyway, happen to ever see a painting that looks remotely similar to that?
the style looked like Kawacy, but I couldn't find it on any of his pages, so I don't think it's him.
o boy
here we go lads

I'll help you translate this:
What materials do you think this drawing is done with? And what is the modern equivalent of that material that can be purchased in dickblick?
Here's my best drawing from college.
Should I continue my studies, or am I too mediocre and should just try something more lucrative?
Haven't practiced in months because I feel like there's no point.
>>2582973 man why do people pay for this shit
>>2582973
what year was this? I would quit arts college if I were you tbqh. Otherwise you really need to step your game up, by a lot.
>>2582997
First year second semester. Haven't been in school for about a year because I felt like I had no chance professionally. It was a Uni tho, not just an art school.
I wanted to draw a graphic novel, sort of as a summer project, to pass the time, but have never done one before.
I wanted to ask you for any tips, what the theme or story line could be, and what types of books/ paper would you recommend?
Post anything you made!
>pic unrelated
>>2582929
I'm doing the same, anon! I'm doing all traditional, cus digital comics make me wanna throw up. oversaturated.
>>2582929
Learn about paneling first and foremost.
Story and themes are completely open ended. Do whatever you want to write about.
Just read this article and wanted to know what /ic/ thinks about publicizing their work via vandalism/graffiti etc. 'There's no such thing a bad publicity,' but as an artist do you think this can challenge your career as an artist? Not saying this chick's art was any good imo, but Banksy's art is doing well/popular.
>#whatsupbanksy
If her work was any good do and she didn't actually put her instagram name in do you think this would become more or less acceptable?

Drawing on a building is going against the establishment and fighting the man.
Drawing on rock is hurting mother nature by degrading and sullying her natural beauty.
Man bad, nature good.
What's so hard to understand?
>>2582863
/thread, though it's about more than just nature. This bitch would paint on the side of the Parthenon, banksy just paints derelict alleys and bland cinder block
>>2582863
I agree with you, I just wanted to see what /ic/'s opinion was. I suppose if this were to be on a wall of a building it would be more acceptable rather than an old ass rock formation.
Kinda reminds me of this

>in love with my art and making art
>come time to share it: anxious anxiety
do u no what i mean?
Why do you care what other people think? It's shit anyway. Be analytical about your own work and maybe in the future you'd have enough confidence. Just imagine all the likes on Facebook. You could buy the whole earth with those likes.
