I was wondering as a aspiring artist who sucks at drawing by hand which on is more efficient / easier to pick up? Should i buy myself a graphics tablet or suck it up and continue to learn by hand?
Any help / tips would be appreciated.

learn through drawing. the intuos is just a tool and has a tendency to instill on you bad habits and crutches when you are starting out.
Pencil, pen, stack of 500 piece cheap photo copy paper.
I wish I learned that way rather then having gotten a tablet so quick and learning on that and struggling.

dan is awesome and his friend dave is cool
didnt we have this thread before, then dan or dave linked it to facebook and every one had a laugh "who is better dan or dave? " good times
"Yeah pretty much - I have a projector pc, so to trace the outlines I've been putting the paper on the wall and project an image onto it."
the most cringeworthy about this is the motive itself

Hello.
I've just started learning how to draw a few weeks ago, and so far it has been pretty fun. I love playing around with shapes and perspectives, and my focus so far has been edges (with a little shading here and there), but one thing that has been very frustrating is my lines. I can't make the line I want to make most of the times, straight lines come out wobbly, and curves are hard to control, even if I know exactly what line I want to make. When I try to make a quick line it often comes out straight, but I feel like I have very little control over it. It's really annoying when I say to myself "ok, I want to make this form, and I want to draw this line", and then I go to draw the line and it's not even close to what I wanted to do. This happens both with my tablet and with paper, so yeah.
I was wondering if you guys had any tips or exercises I could do to help improve this faster. I've decided that I would not concentrate in just one arm movement, I want to be able to draw any line without rotating the page (I've heard of people who can only make one or two movements right), since I think that will save a lot of time in the future. So yeah, how do I practice this properly? Should I just repeat one line over and over again until it becomes easy to do so, or are there better ways to practice?
I also still am very divided with the wrist vs arm thing. Should I be practicing both or should I try to always use the entire arm (shoulder, elbow and wrist) for every line, even the smaller ones?
Thank you for the help.
Linux is love. Linux is Life.

1. there's a question thread, go there in the future.
2. you just keep drawing to get a better line control, there are some excercises like doing elipses and tracing lines between point a and point b.
I reccomend you the first 2 lessons of this: http://drawabox.com/
Most lines you draw should be with your entire arm. Most people normally draw with their wrist, so assuming you aren't a special snowflake focus on that. The big thing here is to avoid wrist injury and fatigue. Hey Carpel Tunnel Syndrome
There are a variety of exercises you can practice to improve on your line work.
Draw a set of random dots on a sheet of paper, in one stroke connect the dots. Start a little bit before the first point, go through it, and then go through the next. The goal is to draw a straight line, even if you miss your points. With practice...

I need to see a Rothko painting just once to finally decide for myself whether this is all bullshit or not.
Has anyone here seen one in person?
>>2373166
it doesn't make a difference whether you've seen one in person or not. i did and it didn't change my opinion of it.
if you're the kind of person that thinks blocks of color is bullshit, you're still gonna think it's bullshit.

I enjoy the ambiance of the pieces, I can just let my thoughts wander without the distraction of figures and other realistic objects.
all i'm seeing is minions m8.
/ic/, is it just me or half of the color wheel completely lacks in vocabulary/cultural background?
I can tell the difference between blues with some attention, sure, but they are all BLUE to me.
Now, I know I can find a pretty fancy name for every shade of color humanity has ever seen, but only house decor people care for that stuff.
Do you also have some trouble telling what kind of blue or green you should use? Do you feel there are too many blues and foolproofing with Ctrl + U is the only way to tell for sure?
That never happens to me with the other...

It's called the visible spectrum. That's all you get with your shitty human eyes m8.
Your confusion might just be that the Photoshop color wheel has two black corners which is completely useless, and the ideal one would have three corners.
But a square looks better from a design perspective.
protip: left half of the wheel contains of warm colors

Explain and give examples and if they're really being obstinate I check my mood. If I'm not in the mood, I shrug and walk away. If I'm in the mood, I will fite u m8 swear on me mum. It usually doesn't come down to that though because I try not to be inflammatory with my initial critique.

After attempting to make several dozen comics and animations I came to the conclusion that acting is super important for figure drawing.
There is the quote "An animator is an actor with a pencil", which I didn't believed at first but now it feels true.
So what are some resources for leaning to act specifically for artists an animators?
Does a normal acting class works?
You talking about capturing stories and what not? Or capturing expressions? Kind of a vague question since there's a lot of answers you can get from there.

I can draw figures and know basic anatomy, but when it came to creative ideas I was stumped. I really wanted to draw draw and draw but the ideas didn't come.
I got fed up, got a camera and started acting some shitty comics. My acting was shitty and overblown but I had so many fun ideas and references to draw.
Then I acted some of my previous drawings and realized that the poses and gestures were too awkward and stupid, which could have been avoided if I tried to act those actions myself.

So question. I'm interested in finding a patreon that gives good tutorials like rossdraws for those that pay. Any good artists that give good tutorials to their patreons?
>>2383215
why would you need tutorials when you have vilppu, loomis, and whole internet of artists better than you to study from and copy?
>>2383215
google search mikufag tuts
amazing artist that got doxxed because he drew lolis
>>2383232
you gotta pay for those guys.
Hey /ic/, I wonder...
Is it possible to get good by doing nothing?
I mean we gonna die someday and we just need to wait.
>>2382868
Does this mean that we're talented at life?
Or if I daydream about being the best artist on the entire universe will I get good? But then I will be doing something and that's not the question.
An universe without loomis
I'm born in the wrong universe
how did tehmeh got good?
