Just do some studies a couple times a week and practice the fundamentals. Then continue to draw like normal while using what you learned from last time.
Quick question
how does one start a patreon? I have some work but it's not good enough
if you want a patreon. what should you be doing/willing to do?
and also is there anyone of you on patreon now? id like to take a gander

>what should you be doing/willing to do?
Sell your soul

Then dont make a Patreon, dumbass.
>>2376767
What do you mean by this?
How do I go about correctly showing form? I've worked on 3D stuff for a while. But when it comes to drawing some things I still look flatter than shit. And I am trying to do this without shading to start.
I've watched Proko/Loomis/Vilppu, and i've gone to drawabox but i dont seem to get what I am doing wrong.

Why do people feel like creating new threads when we have a question thread? Whatever I won't get all autistic over that.
1- While working on 3d does help you should really get a serious plane understanding via perspective, I recommend you reading scott robertson.
2- Shading does help a lot on this, again, I recommend you another book by scott (both of these things have to do with perspective and he will often reference it on his second book)
3- Apply all of the above to more complex figures, like humans.

Construct still life's from observation.
You get an actual sense of depth after consistent amounts of practice.
Lookin for a "secret technique" ain't gonna help you.
As unsatisfying as it is, the gratification of correctly doing something doesn't come soon after what you've perceived to be "alot of practice", let alone "enough practice". Alot of times, it takes three times longer to understand and correctly execute something than you initially predicted. The act of practice yields the results and if it still hasn't gotten results, you haven't done it enough, even if you think you did. You should be able to figure out these...

Is there any benefit to using newer versions of Flash, like CS6 or CC for simple stop-motion animation?
It looks like newer versions focus only on Actionscript and development and have convoluted the interface for simple animation.

>simple stop-motion animation?
Not sure what you mean, like puppet frame by frame?
Flash CC made the brush tool scale with the document, so line width is more consistent. And I think there's more puppet tools.
That's about it though.
I don't want to spend a long time rendering things. I want to make powerful images with lines of varying weight without tedious crosshatching.
Is this okay?
it's ok if it's good. if it's not, absolutely not.
post an example anon
do whatever the fuck you want man just do it well
The usual stories involve people ripping artists off and running away with free art, but have you ever had the opposite happen /ic/?
Pay an artist and they never give you your commission, take a year+ on it, or draw something that looks like crap compared to how they usually draw?
Let's share horrible experiences from both directions. Have you ever had someone not pay you or have someone run away with your money instead?
I can share a story from a friend
>Be friends irl with an artist
>my art is dA weeb tier while this friend is good
>commission her to draw animu characters cuddling
>she turns it into hardcore porn and charges a shitload for it
>too shy to say no and have to scrape together $150 instead of $50...
>we're not friends anymore

you are a fucking idiot
Post shit that makes you want to git gud
Anything goes: Stylized, traditional, studies, animation etc
If you think something is shit, you have to give a reason for believing why it's shit, and also post something that you like instead
It's been a while, let's have an interesting one /ic/

everyone can go home now. I posted the final form.
hey /ic/
I'm seriously considering getting into art, but I don't know whether I should draw or use a computer, I prefer using my hands, and feel like I would enjoy it far more, but I know it has limitations compared to a computer, especially when it comes to colour & lighting (which I hate/have 0 capability in), as for doing both, I know this probably isn't the case, but I feel as though all the time spent drawing would be pointless if I transitioned. What do?
In short, simply committing(and putting effort) to the act of learning one medium or the other will make you better.
However, I would suggest starting with traditional art. Painting, pencil, charcoal, etc. Why? Digital art has a lot of crutches and pitfalls you can potentially fall into that will hinder your learning; ie, tracing filtering color-picking etc. Irregardless, people can make fantastic art no matter the medium. It is much easier to pick up digital art after learning any traditional medium, than it is vice versa. However, doing one will not stop you from doing...

cheers senpai, time for the sticky, a pencil and this "loomis" guy
If you like using hands, do sculpture.
If you think all digital art is made with a mouse, you are a moron.
How many years do you need to git gud?
Ive started 2 months ago and i want to at least draw like pic related before a year

Quit now while you are still ahead.

tree fiddy years
Let's say I am interested in making cash from drawing and I have no idea about it. I know there are better methods to get money, but I want to draw and gain it from there.
How do I start? What can I do when I learn everything from the sticky, what should I do next?
find out what you want to do and build your skills towards that specialization.
What to do comics/storyboards? learn more perspective , anatomy, clothing composition a nd storytelling.
make work and compare it to professionals in the field, if its as good then go and market the fuck out of yourself until you get work,
If your work isn't as good find whats lacking and work on it until your as good as them and then compare again, rinse and repeat.
Also learn to figure stuff out for yourself, you have the entire internet and google, most information...

Also make sure you really know the fundamentals on an intuitive level, a good test is if you can't do it from memory than you don't actually know the concept/information intuitively
You don't want to be trying to do professional work and be constantly struggling because your constantly making mistakes and struggling to do the basics.
Is the neck too long?
its By Ross Tran, he has a really awesome personality.
Yes, it is

Yes.
It looks pretty ridiculous, but it's something the average person probably wouldn't notice.

Kinda weirding me out how he placed it in his portfolio, and I saw it right away

Post your current drawing here and give constructive critique to others!
Please make sure your posted image is clear, downsized to around 1000 pixels wide, rotated to the correct orientation, and that any unused space is cropped.
If you want critique on a drawing from the previous thread, you can delete it there and repost in this one.

wip, thoughts on what to improve?
I fucked up a lot of stuff and need some help fixing it. Any help is appreciated.
Pic related is what I'm working with to make an analogously colored painting. I'm doing it with the warmer side of the wheel, reds and yellows and what not.
I'll try and post the painting itself, but its so early on that its hardly worth it. Basically, on a cooler neutral grey layer, I colored the tin object in the middle a bright yellow. I found it difficult to find a neutral and warm color that could be used to mass that in. The darker area, the right side of it, ended up being greener which I'm not sure I like.
Should I mix a yellow with...

So /ic/ what are your opinions concerning the Italian Renaissance vs. The Northern Renaissance? Who's techniques do you find more valuable to artistic progression? Northern detailing and textural work vs. the revival of Classical naturalism of the Italian etc. Discuss.
i should hang myself
>>2382581
Gimme a month to finish learning about this
>>2382554
italians invented perspective wich is end game so ,flemish are godlike .its a very technical discussion , the kind of discussion nobody can handle on ic so...
the same for wet canvas, cgsoc, etc. even artrenwal cannot really handle this topic
Im not the best drawer in the world, but one of my friends makes me draw. I just want a bit of feedback about what I drew.
Also if you dont know who this is, I dont blame you. Not much people do. This is Pirate_Tinman from Shadow of Israphel
