I'm a beginner, generally I study anatomy, perspective and gather references.
I spend most days doing some gestures, trying to work on fundamentals.
Occasionally do something more long-form but 90% of my stuff right now is sketch.
Goal is to illustrate this story I've been developing (probably as a comic) and get proficient...

IT guy (mostly tech support), translator, I also go to college for CS.
I just draw. As much as I can, 50% of the available time just learning, 50% personal stuff and commissions.
Goal is to change careers and make a living from art, hopefully as an illustrator
specialist for a telecom company, about ~40-45 hr/week. Spent time studying anatomy and been doing gesture drawing everyday after work. One of my goal is to bring in an extra source of income while getting good.
Good to know there's some artist out there juggling a day job. We're all going to make it.
Sup nerds. Out of the game for a while, now back in it. First mixed media sketch : water color , colored pencil, microns.
Critique please. Could I git gud with more practice ?
Shameless self bump
Also I'm cringing looking at it now, but I think it's mostly to do with picture quality. She looks a lot better right in front of me. Also it's fair to mentioned I used a ref for this. Thanks.
Howdy, and welcome to /ic/.
You should post in the beginner thread - threads on their own are rarely taken seriously, especially for beginners.
You can ctrl+f the catalog for "Beginner" and it'll pop right up.

Found this again after having formatted my computer. Very important: http://neilblr.com/post/58757345346
aw fuck dude thank so much, I was like looking for this program for awhile now. U just made my day.
I'm having a problem. Lately, I push myself to get popular with my art. I post on social media. I put a lot of effort into my work and while I get views, likes, reblogs, etc, I feel that it's not enough. I've equated these numbers as popularity and worth. People have have been talking about my art outside of the comments sections as well.
What's worth more, numbers on your art (bookmarks, likes, favorites) or conversation about the work?
Genuinely enjoying the process, striving to improve and not caring about what people think of it.

this
>>2586602
what first commenter said, but if you gotta choose between the options u listed, i'd pick conversation always. favs just mean somebody saw and thought 'oh thats nice', or maybe they just liked one tiny specific part, and even if they loved it they probably forgot 10 minutes later. conversation means they thought about it and actually give a fuck abt it to some extent
So i'm fairly sure there have been many threads like this, but how do I become as close to Kim Jung Gi as possible?
Also if there are some interviews/videos of his worth any value please do share them.
love drawing despite the result, if you can't do that you're doomed from the start

How do you guys like my Hero 76 drawing, i know its a little janky, i definitely could have spent more time on it but it was also my first real time blending with prismacolors, How It DOO?
Well i dont think its bad, its far from great tho.
>>2586384
yeah, i know, I'm pretty young and i haven't drawn in a while, let alone coloured, but the background is supposed to have that texture
>>2586380
>Hero 76
is that like the bootleg Soldier 76 that they sell in the third world or something?
This is a drawing I made for my art course something like 4 or 5 years old at secondary school. I'm almost sure it's a picture from a famous painter but I don't remember who, can someone help me?
looks like de chirico
Its di chirico
All I can find is that adult colorbook crap about coloring by numbers, and can't find jack about color rendering because of that
No watercolors neither pls, just color pencils
nigga just paint the colors you see with accurate form drawing and edges between said shapes
differentiate warm from light colors. in cold light bright zones are cold and shadows are warm, in warm light viceversa
that's literally all you need to know about color
Literally just experiment.
>>2586033
Fucking this. See what works and what doesn't. Try to understand the why. Just experiment.
I'm making some giant monster concepts, and I'm stuck on one. Can't decide the color scheme. Any ideas?
