>have a friend that got into drawing because he felt left out of our art circle and was inspired by all the things we make
>wasn't really much of an artist before that
>with each passing month, he draws less and less
>doesn't even put effort in drawing anything any more and just makes crappy doodles every now and then
How do I motivate him /ic/ without hurting his ego/feelings? I want him to improve, but his laziness isn't helping....

Maybe you should livestream your suicide so he can feel motivated that you're dead and out of his life?
Hobbies are for fun, not necessarily to get better. Maybe he just enjoys to doodle aimlessly.

You sound autistic anon
Does anyone here have any experience with this sort of stuff?
Im looking into doing it inside to hang on the wall in our living room, where I think something like it would look nice.
The only concern I have is with moisture that might create mold on the walls...
Would it work if I used a large (1mx1m) wooden board, covered one side with this stuff:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bituminous_waterproofing
and then paint the moss paint on it.
Do I have to water it every now and then? Im finding mixed reviews on that one. Spray in with water every day? Leave...

I don't have any experience actually trying this, but I can tell you that it would be a bad idea to put it directly on the wall, due to the moisture. Mounted on a board shouldn't be much different from a regular houseplant, though. The moss will need to be kept moist if you want to to stay alive and healthy, they don't have roots to store water in so they're happiest when damp. It shouldn't need watering every day (might get mold) but don't let it dry out more than just a bit before you spray it again. Try to keep it green, if you don't water...

Its bullshit, stop being retarded.

Well it still means we can grow some moss before and glue them stensils on the wall.
Does anyone know who RS's concept artist is? I just got back into RS after 9 years after hearing 07 RS was back and seeing this amazing art.
I have to know who he is, his work is overqualified for the game.
Doing a small dump of some of his work

How do you become Ruan Jia?

Buy his brushes.

Why is Ruan Jia so underrated outside of /ic/?
There used to be a time when japanese artists were some of the best in the world. How did moe destroy all of this?
>>2395734
>implying moe art isn't a whole different type of skill all together that requires precise measurement and placement to achieve a pleasant drawing that gives emotions of extreme appeal and adoration because it is cute.
Now combine that with sex appeal and you have something to attract the good goys that would make you those Shekels. Its easier said than done.
>>2395742
>Its easier said than done.
This. I don't really draw anime at all but I'm not delusional enough to think it's easy. There's enough god-awful anime out there to testify that not any asshole can pick up a pencil and draw it.
Every time I see a retard wail that "wahh its just symbol drawing you just need to learn the right symbols!" I wish he's put his money where his fucking mouth is and slap down some of those easy symbols into something...

The difficult part are drawing ellipses since they're more prominent on a moe face, they're indeed symbols but you add elements of perspective and form to convey something that could exist in space but without adding too much form and detail to make it uncanny and jarring this is the tricky part.
Who are some artists that have a really good sense for shape design? I want to study a little more about it but don't really know where to start.
>>2408453
what do you mean by shape design?
I think Roger Dean does for sure
>>2408464
I suppose it includes good use of negative space, nice curvature and the general relation of the shapes proportions to each other.
Think the guy who drew this was from /ic/, it shows a solid understanding of form and shape design imo
Has anybody tried Google Wallet for taking payments? I'm looking for alternative to PayPal and was wondering if anyone has had a better experience using this service.

oh, didnt know that, i was talking about you
Let's say mr. x went straight with his portfolio and his BA to company Y and was hired on the spot, working himself to the spot of art director and recently lost his job.
Now mr. X had never to compete in the "real jungle" outside of corporate world. He's confident in the quality of his work, but he doesn't know where to start.
Make a blog? Make a tumblr? How do you even get people to SEE your stuff.
Do people even like stuff that's NOT porn?
>>2397805
A Tumblr/Deviantart would be a good place to begin. Though, platforms like Twitter or Instagram might give you more attention in the short-term.
There's also no promise that people will see your stuff. Using lots of hashtags should help.
>>2397831
Wait... people now upload their stuff to twitter as well?
Oh god. When I started deviantart was the new hip thing for teens.
>>2397805
start with fake fans then try to get at least one gossipy fanatic. I mean those people who obsess and reblog like crazy. Those people, unfortunately, will be your heavier lifters in getting your work seen out there.
I'm not making this up. MIT did a study about influence on social networks and why certian things seem commonly accepted when they have no reason to be.
who is the artist next to Dowie?
Could you kindly inform me?

Fuck off with this anime garbage
The two anons on suicide watch are never going to fucking make it.
Jerry is pretty "IMAGINE LIFE THROUGH HIS EYES" and banana's shit proves he's a slow learner and prone to self-discouragement.
You guys are lucky. You now have two people who are guaranteed to be eliminated from LAS #1.
>>2408718
I've started forcing myself to draw with my elbow rather than my wrist and I think I'm starting to see improvements when sketching, drawing shapes or figure drawings.
I cant draw for shit. No matter what I do my drawings still look like a 10 year old did it. I don't understand how some people can take a photo and draw the person almost exactly. I draw for hours on end and don't improve. All I want is to be able to draw photorealistically.

What is a good active forum that actually helps you instead of spouting retarded nonsense like Loomis/etc? ConceptArt is seemingly super slow
>>2408704
>retarded nonsense like Loomis
stay bad. saged
>>2408704
There is no place anywhere on the internet where people will hold your hand and make you get better through invaluable, mind blowing advice and critiques that you couldn't possibly have figured out on your own. If someone tells you to read more Loomis, they mean you don't have a proper grasp on perspective, construction and anatomy.
>>2408704
i havent seen a Loomis post in ages
Hey friends I'm doing my first oil paint and need your harshest crit
not bad but everything seems blurry, either its the camera or you should sharpen it up a bit
the strokes looks like a beginner obviously you have to paint more
also add details to the hands
I don't like your haircut!
Online surveys aren't a real job!
A bowtie and sandals? Paging Dr. Dork!
Aside from that, it's nice that the subject comes out of the background a little, and you've captured a great deal of life in the face... but the values demonstrated aren't very comprehensive outside of the face, which makes the hands, the sweater and the pants all kinda look like you gave up in the middle of rendering them. Also the hand by her mouth has some proportional issues due to a line you dragged down farther than you should...
