My girlfriend spends loads of cash on me but isn't materialistic herself at all...she will cry buckets for a special card but a Michael Kors bag makes her notice that it's cliche and everyone has it. She likes special things so I've decided to try to do something sentimental and crafty for her once every two weeks. This is my first attempt and I'm not a very artistic guy at all. Tell me what you think. Would you like getting something like this?

Hey guys I would like to hear some critique on this painting and maybe advice on how much I should sell this painting for. This is my second portrait, I used acrylic paint and it's on a 20 by 16 inch canvas panel and it means a lot to me if I could get some pointers. So tell me if you like it or don't like it and please state why! Thanks everyone!
Here's another photo! Sorry for the lighting. I can take another if anyone's interested!
dude seek out the appropriate threads, many will just ignore you for making your own thread and this will just discourage you.

Hey /ic/.
Started drawing a couple weeks ago. This is both my first attempt at something human, and my first ever drawing session I went to. I know it's shit, I'm just hoping y'all could tell me specifically what about 'em is shit (other than "everything") so I can work on that?
I was also wondering if I can just draw poses from my computer or are these nude sessions really worth it?
Anyway, sorry if I fucked up and I was supposed to put this in some other thread.
>>2432646
Just draw poses from the computer you fucking retard
>>2432646
If you want to draw human body learn how to draw skeleton and length or bones etc. Then once you draw that 500 times and have it memorised you can put muscles over it. Draw all muscles 500 times and that's it.
You don't have the spark.
Quit while your ahead.
Hello, almost 2 months ago i just decide to start making a webcomic.
But there is no love :p I've been improving my style and giving it more and more effort.
I'm posting here only one CGI from my webcomic; hopping for some good feedback.
So, questions:
-What do you like the most about SDW2.1?
-What you don't like the most about SDW2.1?
-The lenguaje is strong?
-The girls are arousing for your eyes?
Have a good night/day.
Contributing/bumping with another CGI
Last bump, but OP keeps drawing around.
Checking by and by this post.

Hey /ic/
I wanted a nice screen tablet and my stupid fucking mom got me a waicom bamboo tablet.
Is there a good use for it, I'm having problems drawing on it because I can't see what I'm drawing.
There's not a single piece of art produced by a Cintiq that couldn't have been produced on a Bamboo in a comparable time frame.
Use it every day for almost every task until you get used to it--old clicky games work well for hand-eye training. Set it to tablet mode from the properties panel if it's in mouse mode. Keep your eyes on your screen, not your tablet. Draw a lot.
Remember, the artist makes the tools work for him, not the other way around. If you're a shitty artist, a $3000 Cintiq won't fix that. Likewise, if you're a great artist, you'll create great art with a Bamboo.
Also, don't shit-talk someone who just bought you a nice gift, you asshole. The cheapest decent screen tablet is ~$1000, and odds are that your mom's not as loaded as you think she is. If you want one, start drawing commissions with that perfectly functional Bamboo, save up, and buy one yourself.

Yeah the only decent cheap one is the huion gt220 not sure about burgerland but that's £500 Brit bongs new
>>2432036
Brain dead artist needs a screen tablet.
Just practice on a tablet and you will get used to it. Screen tablet is worse because your hand is in the way.
lets see what you guys do with this arm I drew

Ok faggots, recommend me some historical books in the cannon of art education.
Like what text do artists in the reinaissance and baroque used to learn art.
>inb4 some faggot says huh duh loomis is better than reading ancient art books
I'm not asking for loomis, fucking retards.
I wanna read historical books on art education, because I want to.
renaissance and baroque artists apprenticed under masters starting from a young age. though they were mostly literate, most of their training came from working closely side by side with their master working their way from menial tasks like grinding pigments, to making copies of works made by their masters or other artists. Students were trained in their master's style to assist him in larger works, sometimes the master would only paint the central figures and faces and his apprentice(s) would do the background work. Eventually when he's proven his proficiency, an artist...

I find impossible to believe there wont be some technical book after the printing press were commonly available.
>>2432408
If I remember correctly, the most commonly printed things at the time were religious texts and classic Greek and Roman texts. Considering the Master-Apprentice way of teaching, with the student basically living with the master, I'm not sure if it even occurred to artists at the time the need to mass produce their teachings.
I could be wrong though, I just never heard of printed books. Just personal ones like Da Vinci's stuff.
Where would you place certain artists to give people a picture of what to shoot for?

Hello fellow alcohol/ic/
So I'm an art student and now I've amassed a good deal of different pieces, what website should I use to spread my art ? DeviantArt was the hot stuff but now it's also the bastillion of autism, I don't even want to think about using tumblr, and the only other big is pinterest, which is see Is used a lot today, but on the other hand I don't feel comfortable with it and it's a fucking hipster nest.
What other options are left ?

Lots of people make a page on the online saatchi gallery.
topkuk.
honestly the best place to keep a gallery of your artwork is on facebook or instagram. its never going to get shutdown because its too big, and the ability to upload in bulk makes facebook great.
what i do is pic related. I have a seperate page from my main facebook account ( which i never use), and then i start albums for the different years of my work then upload everything to those albums as long as they fit the category.
instagram is the best place for exposure if thats what your looking for instead of a community. just make sure you use a lot of tags when...

Does anyone have any good examples of western artists who have managed to break into the Japanese art market?
Picture related, I don't care what anyone says about anime, Weee's art fills my heart with warmth. https://twitter.com/weee_desu
sakimichan and Doxy

those artists's primary audience is still western, whereas artists like weee actually get work from japanese companies and have a following in japan.
Why do you care? Only western kids are dumb enough to pay for this art
Is there any point studying art at university?
It seems like a huge waste of money when you could just teach yourself.
He actually got worse...
structure and socializing is probably the only plus. if you don't have a problem with this then fuck it, save your money.
>>2422361
i was thinking the same thing, how does that even happen?
So, newbie here, what exactly is a drawthread, or how does it work?
