225 KB,
can you really make a living doing art? i have trouble finding the strenght to keep going down the artist path, even though i have already invested a fair bit. i just don't see it having much of a future. i don't want to be poor my entire life, or have to be an absolute outlier in order to make a middle class living.

If money is what you're concerned about, art is not for you. Go be a front-end developer, takes an artful mind and pays well, then do your art on the side.
>>
>>2459700

Of course. People use art in stuff they peddle themselves. If there is demand there will be jobs.

The problem is you won't always do it the way you imagined it when you started on that path. You might end up doing something ,where the art component is just a part of your work. Or doing pr0n. Or making retarded 3D movies on yt. You never know. It's a problem, because it demands that you recognize your current limitations. I can't do complex perspective and composition? My enviroments are poor...

I always wonder why it isn't more artists' goal to just go really hard on working and saving as much money as humanly possible, investing it, and retiring with a self-sufficient income on your investments without needing a salary to make a living.
If you go really hard and have a decent income, and don't waste your cash on frivolous shit, people have retired at 30/40 and lived on their own money generating their income. Then you can do art to supplement your income but not make yourself miserable trying to hold down a job in the industry and make ends meet.

Stop bumping, /ic/ is a slow as fuck board. As for your piece, there is not much to say and I'm going to give it to you straight: it's bad.

The composition is shit, colours are shit, the typesetting is shit, the font is shit, your shapes are shit. If you really want to improve and not just asspats, work on developing a feeling for what is aesthetically pleasing and maybe learn to draw.

Right now i'am currently in College but i really want to go into the Animation Industry doing Story storyboards, Character Designs and Work in plots for stories. So i wanted to ask here since it looks to be the best place on 4chan to do it, What do i have to study in order to succeed in my goal??? I know going to an Animation School ins't 100% necessary.

Noah Bradley is a wannabe concept artist and illustrator. What he says has nothing to do with the industry OP wants to find work in. Most of the big companies within the animation industry have talent development programs where they give out internships to the top of the class people at Sheridan, CalArts, Gobelins etc. It is virtually impossible to find work at Dreamworks, Disney or Pixar for example without either being an established professional with lots of high profile project under his belt, or going through...

He's pretty good and is good at articulating his ideas to help you get better and have an understanding of the face, figure drawing, etc.

As always, trying to use just Loomis to improve will end badly.

It's a good place to start for beginners, it teaches construction and basics of the head very well.

In the end you won't be constructing heads like this, you might skip a few steps or even block in to your own whim if you want. But for beginners yeah it's pretty good, it's not just a meme.

I'm getting kind of sick of people putting such a high standard on signing their art. It's a name in cursive, it's really not that big of a deal. Sure, you're suppose to only sign finished works but who honestly gives a fuck? And why would they?

That soccer mom payed $750 for that flea market painting with the pinkified corner. I don't really think it's about the ideas and creativity, but just about the sheer amount of followers and fame he has and people willing to waste money just to have something to talk/brag about. Can't really hate on him, it's a good business idea.

What does /ic/ think about tracing?
5 replies and 1 images submitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>2461214
bumping because i really want to know 'cause I trace a lot and maybe that's a major offense to visual art so and so
>>
It's okay if you don't hide it (like you're consciously cheating), but it shouldn't be an end in itself. You might want to do it for a better study of the contour (everybody learns differently) or maybe for modifying the form and creating something entirely new (a fantasy cat maybe).
>>
>>2461222
but what if it's out of laziness? i don't deny tracing though. I just like skipping to the coloring/details part because it way more fun

258 KB,
Alright guys, I realise this might be a bit of a long shot, but I really want to find this one drawing and I need your help.

Basically, to describe it as close as I can, it was a pencil sketch in which the artist drew his living room.
The trick to this piece was that he had drawn it as from a first person perspective, as if inside his skull, behind his actual eyeball. What this means, is that around the right edge of the drawing he had left his nose, as he could see it every day, and his brow to the upper edge of the sketch.
Then he continued to sketch out his torso,...

guys, i need help. i've got this friend in cegep who's taking art courses. i always thought he was good but a couple of months ago i came here and realized that he's literal fucking ass.
he symbol draws all his eyes, and when he's not symbol drawing he chicken scratches the fuck out of everything
he never tries to push himself and constantly uploads "sketches" (which are chicken scratched pieces of fuck) to facebook, deviantart, twitter, etc.
don't even get me started on the photography. oooh, and the paintings. holy fucking shit you...
