Yes, that spark. So, we're here to discuss the existence or lack of natural born talent. I want every resource, every study, anything pertaining to that of someone having the ability to learn how to draw and at an abnormally fast pace. All of my art teachers have told me that this is true, some people are naturally better at art for no specific reason. Is hard work nothing compared to that of something with natural born talent? Or is there still hope for all of us normal people who have a decent work ethic?
It's like a person born with naturally long legs. Will that give them some advantage over other runners? yes. Will they still need to work hard, train their muscles, and put in the effort to improve? yeah.
Like the runner with the longer legs, some people just pick up and understand aesthetics/art concepts quicker than others. But it's not like the guy with the shorter legs can't go the same distance, it may take him a little longer, or if he has greater determination that the one with the natural advantage, he may even keep pace.
>tfw i don't have "The Spark"
;_;
There is kind of a spark. I think that for everyone, there is a different point of diminishing returns. People that have the spark hit that point quite early, and normally begin to stagnate, whereas people that lack the spark are likely to take longer. The thing is, people without the spark are actually more likely to get farther, in this day and age. Now, because of the time it takes to develop those skills, they have the patience and drive to keep working past the point of diminishing returns that someone with the spark just doesn't normally have, with exceptions like...

How do caricature artists keep from getting robbed after a couple of hours of drawing? It's obvious at the end of the day they have a bunch of cash and are probably pretty scrawny little white boys because they are artists. Should I pack heat if I go out and do this or just run to my car as soon as I'm done?
Just move somewhere where aren't as many niggers.

Make lines and circles every day before you start working on shit. Also sick to the basic brushes.
I have to do a master drawing of another artist's work before 1900. I have to use the same type of paper the artist drew on in addition to it being the same size. I only have drawing paper & newsprint paper, both are 18 x 24. Can somebody please give me an easy example I can replicate? Thanks.
This is for a figure drawing course & I would appreciate your help. I use charcoal, graphite, conté, etc. If you have anymore questions to ask me, please let me know, thanks in advance.
Something easier than pic related or like it would be nice. I can't...

Although I don't like his paintings Antoine Watteau has some really good looking studies that should be easy enough to replicate. Conté even makes a Watteau sanguine that should come close to the tone. Don't see how you could possibly use the same type of paper as a sub-19th century artist, though.

Holy sweet fuck I am so triggered by this. Such a fucking pointless exercise. The flashbacks.
Do I have to grind my pigment as well?
I'd like to know painters that made old cozy city paintings a la Grimshaw. I don't know anything about art, that's why the description I'm giving is so poor, but oh well.
Thanks in advance.
God I love Grimshaw! There are about 5 of his pieces in this upscale antique shop in New Orleans. You really need to see his pieces in person if you have not before.
There is something about every picture I have seen online of his paintings that just kills the piece.
Part of a genre called 'nocturnes'.
getting back into drawing every day, i'm terrible at staying consistent with it and being rusty when i come back to it is discouraging so i decided to get some insight from strangers, the people in my life are too quick to tell me everything i draw is great.
just looking for honest opinions regarding any topic, style, linework, medium, any comments welcome. thanks.

I feel an unrepressible urge to create things and bounce between Art, Sculpting, Carpentry, game design, and writing. Because of this I'm unable to actually do any of them but have decided to begin creating a table top game so that I can at least channel all my creative bents into one single goal in spite of their incoherence.
Except the carpentry. I guess I can make little houses to fight among.
Hey everybody! I just made this Detroit timelapse today, and it was my first one ever using a Nikon d3200. Could y'all give me some feedback? Thanks.

Honestly? You need a little less of yourself in there. More outdoors less indoors.
More street angles. Also, your street angle is slightly slanted. Use that bubble level if you got it.

wow you managed to make a pretty architecturally interesting city look dull af

Her drawings look almost like photos while loomis looks like cartoony shit from the 1950s plus she draws cooler more contemporary internet celebrities like the amazing atheist and Bernie sanders and mrrepzion and pewdiepie
Fuck, why is Loomis more popular then her?
Ughh faith in humanity lost
this is an example of that shitty cartoony artist loomis http://www.oklahoma.net/~silvrdal/boy.gif
and this is her art https://twitter.com/Familyguyeatsa

Looking for a good, portable, tablet to draw on.
I heard plenty about the Surface, but I'm kinda reluctant to use Windows OS again.
Try /g/ buddy, also check youtube, there's a good review by this black guy artist
I don't know about the surface pros, but I have the surface book and it's pretty nice pen wise.
There is some weird issues when trying to use the hot keys with clipstudio however, meaning around half the time I have to manually click buttons.
Overall it's pretty good though, and from I hear the surface pros are much more polished out.
>>2432828
Do you also have that little yellow box pop up every time you use your pen and key like ctrl, alt, shift.
For some reason it really annoys me but i can't find a way to disable it

If it's your only way of interacting with the world. The idea of approval could be addicting.
Ultimately it would be problematic.
>>2471990
wouldn't be a bad addiction to have by any means
>>2472021
If it really is just an addiction to drawing then sure.
But I'd think that it's a symptom of a psychological problem.
This artist, who has a rather well-supplied Patreon, has admitted that she is going to take all of April off and not be producing any content as part of her "month long art break". But she hasn't suspended her Patreon and is still going to get this month's money.
Is this actually allowed? Doesn't Patreon have some rules against this? People are basically paying her to relax. Some of them might not even be aware of it, she's only said it on her Twitter, not her Patreon account.
>>2471770
Why do you care.
>>2471779
If I can scam furry artists out of their money by doing nothing and not get in trouble with Patreon, it'd be nice to know.
>>2471770
that's not how patreon works, the artist must submit a "paid" post in order for the charges to go through for a reward period.

The other ones of the other two series aren't actually that bad, a few of them even quite good. The "more" series condenses a few things and is quite good.
But people still produce guides which a five year old would rather burn than use. Amazon is chokeful of new shit on the same level as what is ridiculed here. And new twist: 10-20 page "guides" for things like drawing hair.
