>be me and search "how to find a passion" on google
>Just remembered when I was 9 I loved graffiti and paintings
>Still like it after 10 years but lost all my skillz
>Spend the last week watching art graffiti and abstract paintings videos

Is that true that a passion as a child is a passion forever? Or am I just wasting my time just for the "recovery effect" ?

I don't know what are lingaments but finding my passion matters too.

I'm only telling you all this because I want to help you like I'm trying to help myself. I've come here as a fellow struggling artist who wants us all to succeed.

The videos I'm gonna give you (in order of how I think you ought to watch them) are for all of you, any of you struggling, the advice I'm gonna give is for us all. Stop the projections, stop the self-hate, stop being so self-critical you cripple yourself, stop the expectations, stop nitpicking artists (you may have legitimate complains but it's a waste of time and you know it, they...

What can ruin your career as an artist?

I've been involved in some "community" drama where I post my stuff. I popped off to some people starting shit with me and basically if anyone was so inclined they could find this dirt and make "callout" posts about me on social media.

How fucked am I? Do people stop caring eventually? This was last year but I did overhear people still gossiping about me, even telling fans to "avoid me at all costs".

People will make shit up if there isn't anything real out there so who the fuck cares.

Apparently in college I use to pimp out my GF for gas money or some shit. Or apparently I am obsessed with a certain bitch of a girl and all my paintings are of her. Also, my ex is trying to tell everyone I trick girls into liking me by telling depressing stories about my life so I can use them.

These are actual rumors about me. Started by some incredibly dickish people I once called friends.

Which would...

So everyone is pretty sick of namefags right? At least the ones who just shitpost but never actually post art soooo here's your chance. You like stroking your own ego so much, post your art here too and we'll judge whether or not your art is good enough that we give a fuck about the rest of what you have to say.

Not posting my work because it's irrelevant when giving my opinion. You don't need to know how to make movies to know if one sucked, and you don't need to know how to cook to know if your food tastes like shit so just post and stop making...

Favourite pieces in your local gallery?

Usually it's Giambattista Tiepolo's 'The Banquet of Cleopatra' but we're currently having WM at the NGV which is effay to say the least. Went with my brother, somehow he didn't make a sound while looking at it.

>we're currently having WM at the NGV which is effay to say the least
So does that mean it's simultaneously extremely self conscious yet hilariously not self aware? Or do you mean it's the laughingstock of all other galleries? Expound on this term "effay" please.
>>
>>2473896
Damn dude.

We're no Sydney, but the Andy Warhol / Ai Weiwei exhibitions are great! No need to get pretentious. Every gallery has a piece that you enjoy, implying that you think NGV hasn't one single piece you like is laughable.
>>
>>2473903
I wasn't talking about the galleries, I was referring to your embarrassing use of the word "effay".

Nobody? I assumed they had an internet presence from that book and their mlp tutorial book also for sale here. I was wondering if they were legit but didn't want to actually open the books.

In an unrelated matter, I'm still trying to learn to draw with my arms and not my hands.

Found it. Does /ic/ know of her?

Hi dudes. I want to get as much attention around my work as i can, but i don't know what i should do. I know my skill lvl is better than alot of stuff that's getting alot more attention, but i don't know what to do in order to create some buzz around my stuff.

The main reason my work isn't that popular is because it's mostly gritty and dark stuff that most pple can't relate to i think. Should i just start doing alot of fanart and stuff so i can start earning atleast some money from it?

Pic related. Not my work but similar.

>A new Rembrandt painting unveiled in Amsterdam Tuesday has the tech world buzzing more than the art world. That's because the painting is the creation of a 3-D printer — and not the Dutch master Rembrandt van Rijn himself, who has been dead for almost 450 years. "The Next Rembrandt," as it's been dubbed, was the brainchild of Bas Korsten.

Honestly these videos scare the shit out of me, even though they don't mean much now, but could mean a lot in the long term.

I'm scared that some day you will be able to make drawing easier, painting's already been made easier with the digital age, but you can't fool drawing. And what if in the near future someone with little to no knowledge will be able to feed specifications into a computer and get exactly the artwork he imagined? rip

Do you tend to have a hard time drawing in perspective? For some reason im able to do this kind of drawings pretty easily.
15 replies and 6 images submitted. Click here to view.

Anyone who has half a brain can do basic perspective. Its literally just lines. I guess it would only be a problem for women and minorities, but even then you'd have to be pretty retarded on the bell curve.
>>
>>2476350

A simple one point perspective with symbolic architecture is easy, but drawing complex objects (aka things that look real) in perspective takes a lot of skill.
>>
>>2476355
Takes a lot of skill but environments take time more than anything else. Just a lot of fucking time.

Boris is probably more technically skilled, but his work is overpolished imo and not as evocative as Frazetta's.

Frazetta was raw and and original; I like his stuff better, personally.

Who sees more flaws: Someone who's drawn and worked on something for 10 hours, or someone who glances at it for a second?

Be glad it's not the other way around.

Either you actually suck and people are just polite, or you suffer from the artist's curse. Either way, if you keep working through it you'll be fine. The ones who suck the most are the people who never realise how shit they are.

Hey guys, I have never been good at art. I have heard good things about some of the things I draw but I do know that most of the stuff I draw is Elementary is skill level. I need tips. I know skill is important but practice makes perfect but I want to know how I should be practicing, If I should use any tools to help in general, and what you guys did at...

I would but sadly I don't have any on me, also my best work I doubt I even have.

Art teachers are losers but going to art school is okay.

I personally think it is good to go to art school but keep in mind these few things...

Your art teacher is a nobody artist that nobody has heard of 95 percent of the time.

Even small local art galleries probably don't know who they are

When they give you advice on how to make your art appealing remember that they probably wouldn't be teaching if they knew how to be successful as an artist.

Some care more about looking edgy then improving their art.

You don't have...

It's a good idea to go to an art school where the teachers are unknown and will feed you bad ideas ?

Why not just start working as soon as you get out of highschool if you can't get into a great school or have a good teacher...

So you can have a piece of paper that says you are an artist, it helps differentiate you from a regular joe that draws as a hobby and says to the world "I am serious about art"
