>tfw I just turned in some commissioned storyboard work
>tfw in the same message, my boss asked me if I have a summer job lined up
My nigga, you can do it too.
I like art but I don't even know what kind of job I want to do within art.
Everything seems to mediocre.
Concept Art
Storyboard Art
Graphic Design (We do better work, go tell /gd/)
Editorial Illustration
Caricature
Motion Graphics and 3D Modeling
Fine Art
Portraiture
Where would I even get commissioned for something like that? I'd love to do Storyboards, concept art, character design, background art, 2D animation... Pretty much any of those I could do a pretty presentable job at, but I just have no idea where to get started. I'd even take an internship somewhere just for the experience.
In wat kind of Style do you usually like to draw??? I prefer to draw in cartoony style over Anime but lately i've been trying to do more realistic drawings
>>2476316
I like drawing old men
i grew up drawing sonic characters and anime type shit up till high school till i got embarassed and went to making more realistic stuff. now im in college doing it all. my style is somewhere in between idk
My parents never let me really watch too many western cartoons, only anime. So I learned my basics all wrong, and now I'm trying to fight to be able to do more realistic/western style art by relearning the basics, but my anime beginnings show and mess it all up.
So I have achieved mild success as a freelance artist. I'm completely self employed basically. No other source of income, and I make enough to put aside a little bit every month.
However for some reason I have insane trouble motivating myself to actually do the work people pay me money for. I bum around still in the neet mindset, do fuck-all every day and just order pizzas and spend my money on stupid shit. I could probably make twice what I make now if I buckled down and had a professional approach on things. Say I tried to consistantly work atleast 8 hours every...

Think about the environment you're living in. It plays a huge part.
Motivation is a bitch isn't it? One of the joys of going freelance. Sounds like you don't have the healthiest diet and you probably are out of shape too. I'm not freelance myself so I don't have to struggle with self-discipline that much but after I started working out I've noticed I have more energy for my own projects. Taking care of yourself is essential.
Just get your shit together. And do it.
On another note, share how you started and how you got exposure please.

IS THIS FOR FUCKING REAL?
shit, i'm sorry guys i'd meant to make it this size.
>>2479123
Why would anyone fucking waste their time copying a fucking picture when you could just photobash instead of shitting out an uncanny lifeless and dull face it looks flat and something you'd expect to see in the beginner thread.
>>2479123
He's even picking the colors from the photo. Just what is the point?
Guys , after i finish with exams this year , i want to find a somehow good fitness exercise programme to follow because i'm afraid i'm not that healthy but in the same time i want to use all my free time practicing drawing etc.
My question , how did you manage to make time for drawing but also , going to gym and stuff .
I apologize if the thread is not suitable for this board. I will go to /fit if that's the case
go to the gym in the morning
draw all day when you get home
granted i only go 3 days/week and draw every day and that must be why my fitness gains are slow but i'm getting better quicker
also you aren't taking three hours for your lifts (when you should be using 3+ hours to draw) so going first thing in the morning will open up the rest of your day
>>2479353
3 days a week is usual, slow gains are normal
>tfw no scans of the best book on observational drawing
thats all + 2 or 3 images
>>2478533
I own that book, its pretty good
>>2478553
scan it faggot
or if you have a good camera make a video
How do you feel about drawing real people for a porn commission?
>>2477938
i would not want it done to myself, therefore i would not do it to another person
>>2477938
>porn commission
Haha art prostitute
How do you feel about sweting it so someone can get off and throw 20$ at you?
>>2477945
I doubt anyone would want to see you anyway.
Is it possible to use a sheet of paper to trace a computer monitor? Don't ask, I'm thinking of a thing.
Yes, I do it all the time to transfer digital drawings on paper
>>2476451
Yeah but it will be fucking annoying, I tried it before
use a grid
what's your goal /ic/?
to be the very best
like no one ever was
to draw well is my real test
>tfw you have the spark.
>>2475493
i love you anon
>tfw you know you're gonna make it.
> tfw when you dont know what the fuck is " the spark" and carry a lighter everywhere just in case.
What is this spark you speak of?
/ic/, how do I deal with being a crazy perfectionist about my art? I never think it's good enough and expect to be the best at everything and get pissed off when I'm not. What do I do?
>>2475476
post your work.
>>2475477
Well I'm working on this right now but it's pissing me off
that's simply your big ego
you have to accept you're not the best and have to learn first just as other people
Ironlak sponsor "sofles"
"Sofles" is one of the most famous graffiti writers in the world right now.
Want to know a few things about "sofles"
He went to a private school called "Brisbane boys collage" this is one of the most expensive private schools in Brisbane city.
He grew up in an upper class inner city suburb called "Paddington" which is expensive real estate.
Sofles dad is an engineer who makes a lot of money.
He basically grew up as a highly privileged rich private school kid from...

>>2470437
That's not what this thread is about.
This thread is not called "what do weaboo losers think of graffiti losers"
>>2470427
the whole polticial connotations associated with anything that may be deemed "graphic design:
which encompases TAgging, burners, murals, and general vandalism

I was wondering if you'd like it /ic/
Please give me your thoughts.
And also this.
I like the portal one
but I don't get to like the other two, the cat and the moon look a bit weird
>>2478253
looks like toasted bread
Do you recommend putting your name or initials on your work? I never do it. I don't like cluttering any of my pictures with my full name and I don't see the reason why put would put their initials on digital work, there's no way to reverse search an image using just initials.
Does not signing your work hamper you in the long run or it doesn't really matter?
Pic is not mine, just using it as an example of initials on work.
>>2476649
No, signing is only ok for huge pieces otherwise only put down the date
>post your drawing
>on a blog stating your name/nickname
>still feel the need to sign it
Why? Are you afraid someone on DA is gonna steel ur Oc?
Anyone else have a backlog of unopened/unplayed games due to focusing on art? They constantly taunt me, but they're also a badge of honor and proof to myself that I'm dedicated to getting better.
I was in the exact same situation as you op. I only put like 14 hours into xenoblade x before dropping it to work on art. However I bought a PS4, MGSV, and FF type 0 last week and I can't stop playing MGSV. Its one of the best games I've ever played. I really want to work on my art but MGS too good.
Games are for children.
>>2475595
I actually try to play games during breaks in drawing, but I get an overwhelming feeling of guilt and dread. I just don't want to be another person who fails at art and has to work for some corporation like everyone else. I'd kill myself if that was my fate.
