Recently, I suffered a shoulder injury due to too much drawing. However, I'm lead to believe it may have been due to drawing with a poor setup.
I was aware of carpal tunnel, so I did my carpal tunnel exercises, my wrist is fine. Was aware of posture, so no back problems (even got a great chair). However, my elbow was always floating with no rest, thus crating some major damage to my shoulder for drawing on hours on end.
So I'm wondering, what is the ultimate setup (desk, chair, etc) to have to make sure your body can draw for hours and hours. And what...

Just out of own interest, traditional or digital?
>>2479507
Traditional.
Speaking of which, since I'm drawing on some kind of note pad or a clip board, was wondering ways how to draw the corners without bumping the paper. I know it's best to rest your hand on whatever your drawing, but when you reach the corner you're kind of force to have your hand floating.

looks good, but my concern is how apart from the background your figure is, seems like he was just plopped on top - at least his upper torso gives me that vibe
Which tablet would /ic/ recommend?
Correct me if I'm wrong on this, but
>iPad Pro: Great for sketching, lineart, hobbyist art
>Cintiq: Use on PC, access to all necessary programs and tools like Photoshop
>Microsoft Surface: ? (Microsoft Ink supposedly to compete with Apple Pencil?)
>Wacom Intuos: Ranges from decent to complete garbage
If you have the money, get a Cintiq 22" HD or a competitor.
If you don't have the money, get an Intuos or competitor.
Don't waste money on a tablet for just drawing. It's functionality is very limited compared to a desktop/laptop PC.

Why were these ever invented? It's meaningless to learn coloring with them, nobody past puberty uses them. Might as well use color pencils.
I believe what people refer to as "talent" isn't neccessarily what we think when we hear the word. Let's face it, art seems to come easier to some people than others, but they aren't born with a talent, just an ability to learn quicker.
I think part of the problem is that people learn differently. Some are visual, some are auditory, and some are mechanical meaning some have to see it b done to learn or read about it, some have to hear an explanation and others have to try it themselves to understand.
But unless you're in art school...

tl;dr sum it up plz.

There's different styles of learning, so what if people who seemingly have "talent" just happen to have mechanical learning styles, meaning doing studies comes easier to them, thus they improve faster than those of us who dawdle because studies aren't always fun.
>>2483564
Furthemore, what if we adjusted how we learn art to our normal learning style, would we improve faster?
Can you guys rate my fan art piece here? Give me constructive criticism please
Well you should have uploaded it instead of the DBS image.

You have to work on your foreshortening anon, it also wouldn't hurt to read some loomis.
It´s just an inbetween image for animation, anon, and not even a key image.
It´s not supposed to look great.
What do you guys think of Alexis' work? Is it a style worth pursuing?

While many great and successful artists have attended art school, the fact is many have not. Census data shows that in the U.S. only 16% of working artists have arts-related degrees, and 40% of working artists have no degrees whatsoever.
If you're European, free school earned through a lifetime of paying a 25% VAT on everything you buy besides bread and water means that you may as well attend whatever ambiguous institution is at hand, but if you're American things get more complicated.
We all know that a genuinely good art school would hypothetically...

This doesn't just apply to art school. This is a common conclusion to most upper education in general. BTW this entire post is about the United States, so if you live in a country where post high school education is free, you should absolutely continue your education.
The problem in the US is that a college education costs ridiculous amounts of money. Unless you are going into a field that requires board, state, or federal licensing there is really not reason for you to go to college. Going to a university for a bachelors or masters has become less about academic...

I don't know if that's true, though. Many solid jobs you actually do have to have a degree to be taken seriously, don't you? I don't know how common it is to get employed as an engineer without having the credentials of one.

Art education in most of Europe is fucking awful though and it's a complete waste of time for most. Just because it's free, doesn't mean you have to take it, actually that's the main reason you shouldn't do it. Good things are never free.
What are your thoughts on these
This ones about a train trip I took on the way to Brussels when they raised the terror alert to maximum.
Pretentious comes to mind.

This girl and I follow each other on instagram. We both like each other's work (in the literal "clicking the like button" sense). I asked if she would be down to do a collaboration and she said yes.
This will be my first time doing a collab with a stranger. So my question is: how do I even start it off? Also, do you have any hints or tips in general on doing a collaboration?
I'm sure you are perfectly capable of figuring this out yourself.

Will beginners actually get anything out of Loomis if they haven't grasped drawing in 3D yet? Why does every meme this guy if people aren't ready for him?
If you'd actually opened Fun with a Pencil you'd notice it basically starts with exercises trying to cram this concept down your throat by drawing contours around spheres and shit.

Sorry I'm right. He explains it right at the start of the fucking book, you not liking it doesn't make it not true.
What do you think of this video I made? I did everything, including; modeling, rigging, n-cloth, animation, lighting, rendering, texturing as well as the sound effects and editing.

God, /ic/ I hate you so much.
Photobashing is bad they said, mah real artists don't use photobash they said. For years I was trying to improve my brushstrokes struggling through learning basics (basics are important though). You hated every artist who used a little part of photo in his pictures or an overpainted 3D even if the final product was good. You hated concept art saying it's a fucking cheating. I was so blind. Now while working a little in gamedev I opened my eyes. EVERYONE ARE PHOTOBASHING IN GAMEDEV (and using 3D) in their 2D pictures, same with movie...

You're about as good as me if this was from imagination. That hair is awful, though.
Thought it was a girl sitting on a shrouded stool from the thumbnail. Probably because there's way too much fabric there to have been previously covering her jumblies.
