Whats with most people and not being able to draw あ properly?
How do you guys deal with frustration?, its part of being an artist but sometimes I try to bulldoze my way when I frustrated but it seems like the work I produce is subpar.
Does anyone else experience this?.
>>2488593
try to make what you're doing as fun as possible. always take some time to draw things that you enjoy drawing and ignore the quality. try and make finished pieces that you spend at least a few hours on if you don't do that very often
Hey I'm just attaching to this thread cause I don't want to make a new one. It's not really traditional art and not too original I know. What you're looking at is the (appropriated) images of 25 different women superimposed something something woman as deity.. I donno.. Just wanted to show some people.
And to answer OP, yeah frustration is a big part of making choices, which I guess art can be seen as thousands of deliberate decisions. It helps me to think back on other things I made that looked like crap mid-process and turned out to be not bad...

What's the best affordable flex fountain pen? I love my Pilot Metropolitan but it's got a fine nib and no flex, and I want line width variety. I'm thinking of getting Noodler's Ahab, but I'm reading mixed reviews online.
Is there a better pen out there around the same price?
>>2487753
I ended up buying it. It's pretty nice but it's kind of frustrating not being able to flex the pen on pushing strokes, and the line variation really isn't that dramatic, but certainly moreso than anything from a rollerball or felt tip pen. I guess I do need to move into dip pens if that's what I'm looking for.
Buy a decent pen with a #6 nib and replace it with a Zebra G flex. One can buy a Jinhao X450 for less than $3 on ebay and 10 Zebra G nibs for $10. For $13 you can have a nice flex nib with 9 replacement nibs.
>>2490704
This sort of works but the feed of the Jinhao can't really keep up reliably. For drawing it should be ok if you don't go too fast, but it still tends to dry up quickly if you leave the pen unused for even a couple of days. Having to prime the feed to get the pen started every time you want to use it kinda sucks.
The Ahab might do better with the Ebonite feed, but a nib holder is still probably the most reliable option unless you need a pen to take outside.
Are there any other decent art forums?
What's wrong with /ic/? You've got top-tier maymays, art celebrity bashing, tablet threads and anonymous posters reminding you how shit you are. Last Artist Standing alone is making /ic/ comparable to Sijun in its prime

Bought this yesterday and will be here Monday. It's my first pen display, and heard monoprice finally got it right with their newer model. I'm so stoked, I can't wait to try it.
Keep us posted fambalaya
>>2488794
I bought it two weeks ago... It has no replacement pen so if there's something wrong with pen send it back. They aren't selling pens yet, if ever... Thery keep saying new drivers are coming last are from 2015. So far no...
On top of that I think they're selling them low cause they are about to replace them with "better" new ones. Outside of that negative crap. I like it enough, no different than wacom minus some wonky ass drivers that hate wacom ones, remove all wacom drivers asap...

Got one for myself about a month ago. Works just fine with my Macbook. The driver was a little stubborn at first, but after running the quick setup it was alright.
There were some kinks on my PC, including an issue with the mapping when using a two screen setup. I managed to fix the mapping, but I haven't used it since as it feels smoother with the Macbook/Macbook is my primary computer.
The lack of shortcut keys on the display might turn a lot of people off. The screen looks great for the price. I've read about people finding dust under the screen. If you're OCD about that, it's a possibility.
The biggest problem is diagonals. It's my first display tablet, so I have no real experience to compare it to, but they can be a bit squiggly. Even when using a ruler. If it's a driver issue, it may be updated in the future driver, assuming that ever happens. I remember reading somewhere that the tilt functionality has been disabled until the future driver is released as well.
The kickstand feels sturdy. Easy to adjust. The cables connect from the side, rather than the bottom like the older model did, so there aren't any balance issues/cords sticking under the display. For the price, I'm satisfied.

I was doing the mathematics if you do 7 hours a day that is 2,555 hours a year, it would take 4 years to get 10,000 hours.
Assuming you work full time, you would need to sacrifice all your free time to get good.
Its impossible to get good unless you are a neet. Even if you are a neet, working 16 hours a day it would take 2 years to reach 10,000 hours.
Is 10,000 hours bullshit or is it impossible to get good.
>>2487706
>impossible to get good.
If you are satisfied with your ability, then you can't improve. So getting good is bad.
It is better to always think you can be better, and this does not require 10k hours.
>>2487706
Mastery =/= getting good.
10K hours is what it takes to become a "Master". If you take things slow you can certainly attain mastery over a slow period of time. You have a life time remember. Hell if 4 years is all it took to become a Master why isin't every kid that went to an Art school good?
Theres a certain amount of Aptitude and Skill + that 10K hours.
Fear nawt, Art is one of those things that you've seen your entire life. You probably already have a year + just by doing...

you don't need to be a master to accomplish a lot of things in art. Making a career out of it is at least as much as who you know and how you promote yourself as it is about being competent, and you certainly don't need to be a "master" to make work that people will pay for. The best time to start is yesterday, the next best time is right now.
Is it true that being an artist will make you immune to nudity? How will you still get off on stranger's nude photos if you've mastered desexualizing the nude figure?
mental sexuality. I guess. or become asexual. or get a gf and fuck a lot to keep your libido up.
the variables and outcomes aren't the same for everyone.
>>2483457
Become the Übermensch and disregard women and acquire aesthetics.
>Is it true that being an artist will make you immune to nudity?
no.
>How will you still get off on stranger's nude photos if you've mastered desexualizing the nude figure?
powerful instincts that have developed over millenia
You have 10 minutes to make a better job than this artist while preserving the same feelings this expression is trying to convey.

Here ya go, OP.
Hey /ic/, first time poster here, sorry if this isn't the correct board.
I'm looking for artwork that gives off a similar atmosphere to pic related.
bump for interest
one day when i git gud enough i will animate my own interpretation of this. the whole 55 minutes of it in beautifully fluid 2d animation, mark my words /ic/
also pic related OP, it even has the despot bear as a character.
I made concept art sketches for a student movie. I was wondering what you think? (Open in new tab for the bigger images!)

I painted this with syringes
>>2485638
why
Did you ask why I painted it with syringes? It is a style called pointillism. I used syringes to control the amount of paint more accurately. It has a lot of texture, hard to see in a photo. With brushes, it was hard to get the same amount of paint off the brush with each dot. But with syringes, I have complete control. I am also interested in the science of how we see. Rods and cones. So there is a lot of optical illusion happening as well.
